I heard you can often use the corresponding blues scales to improv since it fits many situations. Just pick out the scale of the song and try out what kind of sounds good? I‘m also new to improv so please do feel free to add anything or correct me if I‘m wrong :) Also if it‘s jazz, just play confidently and anything should sound right lol
