Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries before 2020 and all 7 continents, we have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
I absolutely love how Kara is able to live in the moment! From seeing her niece for the first time to enjoying sushi in the lounge. It’s nice how she found moments to step outside of the current situation and allow for a little joy and gratitude.
A good example for when something happens , you slip out of joy and forget how to get back. Starting by appreciating the small things first is the way to begin!
I agree! Kara and Nate make me want to be a better person and to always find the positive!
Must be nice not to have to worry about money..
She really is an example to live by 🥰
Lynn V she seems lovely and grounded
This is wild to watch 3 years after this time. Man, spring of 2020 was just a completely different world.
Actually, we are in the same situation COVID threat-wise, everyone is just pretending we're not.
"We could have easily been, like, very sick and nobody would have known" aaaaaaand that's why the US is likely going to be the country with the most cases of COVID-19 by the time this is all over. I'm glad Kara and Nate made it home safely, but the way they weren't even screened upon arrival from out of the country is very disconcerting.
The US has already became the country with most cases!
@@gerysphotos3519 Dang. Well, I'm not surprised honestly.
@@gerysphotos3519 Gee. Math is so difficult. Lots of people, lots of cases. Still not as bad as the media makes it out to be. The math is 99% survival rate. Not bad when compared to other health causes...
@@thevegastouristupdate Not 99% survival... every country has at least a 3% death rate.
@@listay1 Survival rate is not the same as death rate. Two different numbers.
the way that they didn’t screen them when entering the US just shows how poorly the country is managing it
not quite. The same happens everywhere else. You arrive home and no one is trapping you. You have rights and you have a brain to look after yourself. Having a daddy Stalin managing you is no fun. They have to self-quarantine which is now the norm all around the world. Get educated before you blame.
@@anialiandr Here in Australia you can only really get in on "mercy flights", the chances of you being able to get in on a normal flight are quite slim. And then you have to go into a MONITORED quarantine for 2 weeks (usually in a hotel or something). Every state has closed off their borders, and in my state you can't even travel between regions in your state. They legit have police check points on every major road.
Treating America's response to the coronavirus as "normal" or "acceptable" is ridiculous.
Please.come to india forever.ill take care of u
Ania Lian I am educated, most areas do screen and order quarantine for 2 weeks after travelling to another country. It’s not ‘trapping’ you, it’s preventing further spread of the virus and is actually beneficial to everyone! I agree that people do have a brain and look after themselves but unfortunately there are some very selfish people who wouldn’t quarantine xx
C Hunter missing the point on what i’m trying to say, the USA would have a lot less cases if they managed the virus better, and don’t forget, the USA isn’t the only nation in the world being affected by the virus so saying that the virus was released to kill the people of USA is naive
I'd leave some quarantine jokes but most of them are inside jokes
😂😂
🤣
LOL COMEDIAN RIGHT HERE
Good one! 😉
Ehhhhhhhhahahahhhhh
Right now USA is the dangerous place to be. Should have stayed in Singapore tbh
completely agree with you
it’s not that easy, they don’t know Singapore as their home and their travel health insurance does not cover covid 19 aboard. And they don’t have a long term apartment in Singapore. Unless they had ALOT of money to rent a hotel indefinitely, it’s probably best to come home.
D W very true
She did say at 2:50 that they tried to extend their visa but was declined.
their insurance would be a big concern, plus they mentioned that their visas were declined.
10:29 "Nobody checks your temperature. There was nobody in line at customs... We made it to the country in like 2 seconds."
That level of complacency in US is exceptionally unparalleled.
I think that’s just the states man.in Hawaii they screen you for anything before you step out of the airport.
They got screened and didn't even know it... I know Dallas is one that screens everyone.. and many other airports screen people with cameras... O'Hare Airport they have been screening since January with IR cameras
Mark Chew What are they going to do, tell an American you can’t come into your own country? Are you ignorant or stupid?
@@GotoHere yes, they will escort you to a isolation room and examine you with a doctor... all international USA airport's have a air isolation room for highly contagious viruses.. and they will test you there for it.. if you refuse that's what I think your getting at.. there are laws to make you mandatory quarantine someone.. in past and currently they have enacted them for covid19.. if you watch legal eagle video he goes over the law on it in the USA.. the 2 incidences I know they have inacted it was 1. Guy tested positive and refused to quarantine in his house.. they had a cop stay there 24/7.. 2. In the 2nd batch of reparation in California there was a guy that after a few day's started showing symptoms and refused to continue the government quarantine for 14 days.. I don't know how many days he was into the quarantine but he went before a judge and they gave him another 14 ma mandatory observation quarantine.. I don't know if he ever developed covid19 but he did get a court order for quarantine... so the answer is YES they can keep you from going home
This entire crisis is overrated
we were 3 months into our first year of full time travel but had to go home because of corona. currently quarantined in indonesia but just glad we’re safe and sound! with so much free time, we’ve just been watching past vlogs so thank you for keeping us feel like we’re still travelling! ❤️❤️
Hangry Abroad same! we’re just traveling vicariously through them haha
Claire Jones u are dumb
Remember to wear mask while outside. I see so many foreigners in Indonesia ignoring the government's order to wear mask.
Hangry Abroad we are the same. We quit our jobs and flew to Japan March 4th for our first year full time traveling too. We are stuck in Japan. Same as you happy to be safe but hoping to get to continue. How’s Indonesia????

Their arrival in the US speaks volumes
No wonder things got so bad 😖

They are Americn citizens... no one can ban them from entering US
kurger100 i think he/she is talking about how the arrival didnt take their temperature or made use hand sanitizer.
We feel lucky to be under quarantine in Turkey now, as even if our health insurance denies to cover us, the Turkish government is providing free healthcare for those infected with Coronavirus. Glad you are safe and sound in the US now!

yes it feels so heartbreaking seeing how our world has drastically changed in a matter of a few weeks. I still can't believe it
I was so heart breaking
Yes it used to be lively, exciting to travel and be around many different nationalities and now it’s just...dead and depressing :(
I just love airports

Well, technically Singapore is still one of the safest countries to be in because the government takes screening very seriously and our community cases hasn't spiked at all since the Circuit Breaker started. Dormitories on the other hand, the numbers are rising because the government is screening all foreign workers to make sure that they all get treated if they have covid-19 and treatment is free for everyone regardless of nationality. Up until 7th of march 2020, if you had covid 19 in Singapore, you wouldn't need medical insurance. The free medical treatment right now only applies to Singapore citizens, Singapore residents and long term pass holders. Having said all that, in times like this, it's always good to be back home, close to your family.
guitarfrozenintime Also the Singapore government doesn’t allow illegals and foreigners into their country.
rolback illegals definitely not but foreigners? 🧐
Free medical? Are you talking about your own citizen? I'm an expat working in IT sector only time I can only feel free medical is my company insurance.. not all get free especially if you're foreign worker
Jiel Manabs Yes, Free Medical for COVID-19 only. Perhaps you should read my comment before ranting about not getting free medical services. Free medical services only applies to Covid-19. Even Singaporeans rely only their company’s insurance, Medisave, their own money or their own medical insurance coverage when they fall ill, go for a surgery or when they require any medication for any sickness in normal times regardless of what sector they work in. So if free medical service is what you want, go get covid-19. The fact that you mentioned foreign workers, just goes to show that despite the fact you work here in my* country, you don’t have the slightest clue of what’s going on. Who do you think is paying for the medical treatment for the 28k foreign worker that test positive for Covid-19? Don’t read something without understanding it and try to write a smart arse comment.
@@guitarfrozenintime and again, fingers as fast as lightning bolt.
Makes me kinda disappointed that the US can’t even have someone stand at the gate and check them

Chlamydia
That's why the US is number 1 in coronavirus cases.
North Korea feels VERY ahead of the curve, right now.

Right?! I've never traveled outside a few states.... But to receive something....wow!
@@aleyshakluver8575 You need to enroll to STEP :)
It isnt a big deal. I'm living in Switzerland right now. Before the entire pandemic I received emails almost weekly from the STEP program. It was about protests that was happening in Switzerland. It got so annoying that I stopped the STEP program. When the virus ess happening I did enroll in the program again. I've been receiving daily emails about the coronavirus in Switzerland. They were just repeating the same shit over and over so I dropped it again.
Protests in Switzerland LOL I bet those are super polite affairs.
They could have stayed put in Singapore. Singapore is managing the problem better then Trump could ever do. No one is protesting lockdown. It is already a VERY clean and safe country unlike the US where people are often pigs in public throwing trash around. In a pandemic I'd prefer a population interested in keeping everything clean over one focused on the alleged taking away of civil liberties.
The Embassy actually sends them regularly. We're in Spain and have gotten them weekly, decided to stay put here though and not head home.

I love Nate's last line..."it's like we're adults." Thank you for this Vlog. I was telling Kim how it reminded me of how much I miss traveling. For many people, travel days are a hassle and they dread the airport, planes, lines, etc., but there is something about all the energy of going somewhere new, all the people going from one place to the next, that makes me feel like a kid again and creates excitement and anticipation. And of course we think about the both of you and how the last 4 years have been nothing but travel and how there must be a void right now for you and how weird that must feel. Love you both and we're excited to see what's next for you and look forward to the day(s) we can all hang out and travel again. We keep saying how grateful we are to have had such a big travel year in 2019 which culminated in our trip to Thailand and eventually Myanmar (and that was because of the two of you). Thank you both! 10:21 That's why a lot of my American colleagues live around SE Asia, telling me, that US embassies calling for US expatriates to go back home is a f***in lunatic idea.
But for these two guys (K&N) it's a different story, they don't live abroad, they just travel and at one point some safety net will start to break down (in this case, their health insurance).
Most governments cover covid treatments for everyone to avoid people not getting identified due to lack of insurance. At least in Morocco and Costa Rica I know they are covering even tourists.
Jeffry Syam I got that same notice in Japan, and I’ve been living here (Japan) for at least 15 years. My thought was “Let’s see. You want me to go back to the US. There’s a much higher Corona virus pandemic in the US than in Japan. Unemployment is much higher than in Japan. People are fighting for toilet paper in the US and even crossing into Mexico for toilet paper. I can get toilet paper and masks in Japan with no problems and they don’t fight for it. Let’s say I leave my job in Japan for unemployment in the US. Will there be at least a comparable job or higher for me, and can you guarantee that in writing by a non trump supporter? No, I think not, nor do I trust him and his idiotic goons in government. No thanks! I’ll stay in Japan.”

Not trying to be political but this video clearly shows how lacking the US is in dealing with the virus. Not doing health screenings is why their number of cases are so much. The country is still so careless and I guess theres still people who believe this is not a real threat. A first world country acting like a third world one. Yikes. 😓
America is a 3rd world country wearing a Gucci belt
@@originalg335 but the guns will kill the virus!!!
Unfortunately some people (Americans) would say it's a "violation of my rights!" I hate those 4 words.
A first-world country acting like a banana republic.
The average third world country is hardly doing a worse job of dealing with the virus. With an infection rate over 1 out of 300 people, Trumpistan is headed for a very, very dark place that will make the average '70s and '80s post-apocalyptic film look quaintly optimistic in comparison. And Trump wants to hold more of his mass infection events disguised as rallies, and wonders why not everybody loves him as much as he loves himself. (As if that were possible.)
Their next goal:

If they are not checked upon arrival, this should tell enough about how serious this is taken....not!
In Canada you can only fly/travel here if you have essential reason and you have to declare your plan of 14 day quarantining upon arrival. Where you will stay, how you will get there, how you will obtain essentials, how public health can contact you etc. If you don't have a plan you get taken to a hotel to quarantine for 14 days.

Your "new" home is amazing! Hope you have a nice time together as well as room for yourself❤
Great video. You guys are so genuine and real. It's beautiful to see. I felt like I was on every leg of your trip. Welcome back to the greatest nation on GD's Green Earth!
I hope everyone is having an amazing day and staying safe!!
I’m so happy I live in Australia especially the state that had been doing the best during all this (I live in South Australia and we only have 1 active case).

Woahhh I’ve never been this early lol. But I recently discovered your channel and I love you guys. You have the cutest relationship, and your videos are so entertaining and so well filmed. I’ve been binge watching them because they’re so entertaining!
If you guys wanna travel rn, Korea still offers 90 days travel visas to anyone, and flights are still flying between Seoul and the US, but mandatory quarantine of 14 days and 1400$ at arrival in Korea
Did you guys upload this after you’re 4:30 am run?? Also I love your vlog’s.
Yep!
“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” This was a quote in a book I’m reading. I thought it appropriate for you.
glad to see how well you’re following lockdown restrictions even being 5 mins from family but staying away, it is tough but it’s for the best
You two are great. You both handled that Crazy Experience with Grace, and Laughter. I’m so glad you made it home safe and sound. You’ll be back before you know it.
MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄☃️🎄☃️🎄☃️🎄
Aw, I teared up when your friends let you borrow their truck and had soap in it. So thoughtful 😭💕
I tell you all I do is watch your vlogs. Not sleeping living in jammies and so happy I found you 2 months. Great enjoyment. Thank you.
That's nice .... How is the pandemic?
I really miss travelling and vlogging, thanks for the uploads guys.

Oh I’ve been through so many emotions watching this , I need travel to restart soon 😔 n💕 Nashville airport carpet .... always makes me smile
the best thing about traveling the time you spend at the airport and traveling is just amazing
Me: *I'm going to bed*
RUclips: *Kara and Nate has uploaded a video*
Me: *Uhhh... SURE!*
Why am I teary eyed? It felt like the last chapter of a really good book! Gawd I hope I am wrong! 🥰 Do give us an update on your life back at home! US being the new epicentre of it all, makes me worry.
It's eerie watching this 18 months later.
Take care everyone! Crazy times we are currently living in ❤️
well now june holidays is may holidays... here in singapore :”
I would have been having panic attacks threw out the whole time. Props to you guys!!
That southern accent came out very quickly listening to country music in a pick up truck. 😂
So glad you guys are healthy and safe! 😊 Must have been so difficult when these times have so much uncertainties!
May be you've passed through such before ?
Hi Kara & Nate. I live in Frisco TX and at 11:51 you came really close to showing my house on the departure from DFW. I 'stumbled' across your channel recently and I love it. Congrats on all your travels. I have a bucket list and going to Anaractica was not on it but it is now. I've been checking out Siversea cruises. Best wishes and safe travels. John, Jennifer & Hudson. :)
This makes me so sad :( I’m glad you guys are safe and healthy but I’m sad you can’t travel like you love to
What with Covid-19, travel vlogs like yours are pretty much the only "breath of fresh air", that I've had for the last few months; and consequently I'm *very* grateful that travelers like you, have documented your journey for the rest of us to enjoy. Thank god, I have about 600 more to go through -- what an awesome find.
Content-wise, you guys are an amazing couple and I sincerely enjoy each and every one of your vlogs (even your older ones, which you might hate).
*Please* don't let this hiccup stop your journey. I know it might seem like things are bleak now, but they will get better eventually. If your content and blog have proven anything, it's that you both are extremely intelligent and diligent about planning, finances, and achieving your goals. I think you both are wise enough to realize that breaks like this are also opportunities for planning and improving; find ways to make your already awesome content, even better; rest, recharge, get back in touch with your roots, and get ready to get back out again. Best of luck!
Glad you’re both safe and hopefully still healthy and happy. We’ve missed your videos. How about a travel vlog of Nashville (even without entering the sites there’s still so much to share), Memphis or the Smokies. I think everyone would enjoy seeing it through your eyes. The Ryman, Natchez Trace, the Parthenon, Opryland Hotel, Bluebird, etc. Have you ever done a Nashville vlog? If so I think I missed it. 🤪🦋🌷🥂
Alex Pavicic i traveled to Tennessee a few years ago and loved Memphis for that rough beauty!
Alex Pavicic yeah I know, I felt it was even sketchy on Beale street late at night and I got some attitude at some areas .i know there’s a lot of crime.i stayed mostly in midtown by Overton square so it was nice but also stayed closer to downtown (medical district) that was bad
Oh yeah Nashville. Clarkson, Hammond and May have been there.
i would love to ride a motorbike inside that empty airport.
