oh damn, i recently got on the waiting list....i know he says there's a list of 700 in a video from May....I've never wanted something so bad so far out of reach aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
It was the prototype video; I signed up right after I saw it. Even though it was a heavy commitment to make, I got hooked on the quality and innovation of his stuff after I bought one of the last Lyra 4 models. The non-linearity of his devices encourage new creativity, at least to me.
@@donaldpriola1807 Heavy commitment indeed, but I've never seen anything so insanely unique as the pulsar23. I've been rockin the Soma Pipe with a boss rc-505 looper and have been havin' a grand old time making crazy beats and sounds. Soma is one step beyond.
@@gonzosightseeing And let me tell you, it's just that; it's just as much modular desktop as it is drum box; I've made some otherworldly stuff with it.
So glad I got myself on the list for this, it's a classic. I know nothing of patching or electronics so a huge learning curve but it will be worth the effort.
Super happy with mine - and I haven’t even gotten to patching it yet! (Prep for a live set means I have to be conservative to start). Love the build quality, and the Orange is so cool. For some reason it makes me feel like I’m using some sort of vintage Russian space equipment! As others have probably said before me, in an age where so much hardware is built on the back of something that came before it (be it an x0x box or anything else), it’s very refreshing to have a truly new instrument. In my mind this is THE defining instrument of today’s hardware era. The first entirely original machine I’ve ever seen. A modern tool, with a modern sound, for modern musicians. We need more instrument makers like you :)
Just got my Pulsar 23. Thank you for making such an interactive, unique and inspiring instrument. Also appreciate these videos. Helps me understand the features and how to explore them.
@@ZenMountain I will take it the grave with me lol I use it at *least* once a week, sometimes still daily for weeks on end. It's not for everyone but if it's for you it's *for you* y'know?
The Pulsar&Lyra are 2 greats instruments. The Pulsar is a very inovative DM, the Bass drum sound deep and punchy with an incredible open field for experimentations . Vlad Keep on going inventing crazy instruments but please could you do the Pulsar more affordable (1800€ ^^)
Thank you! We do everything possible to keep price for all our gear as low as possible. But we are against this modern "philosophy" that the best product is that one that gets a trash bin ASAP we use quality components and European assembling and don't use modern tricks that reduce price in cost of sound. We are trying to create life-time machines that will be in good condition and still actual 20 years later and further. It costs money, please understand and don't compare with cheap-assembling musical gear that is flooding the market now.
@@jbowmanmusic well I'm glad we will both have matching set! I will make videos about it a lot when I get it! Excited for you because you're really good with Lyra!!
Such a great creative machine! Do the patch points contain protection diodes? Reverberation seems to be dirty... Maybe it's only with a feedback? Is it BBD or digital FX based?
Vlad , I just put in my payment for one, and I have a few questions. are there cables that have mini jacks on one end and the alligator clips on the other for use with synths with CV connections? or do I have to make those? or just use the CV connectors at the top left of the machine.
Fantastic instrument. I love it. Please Vlad, can you help me? I connect an ALM PNW (clock generator eurorack module) output to the BassDrum trigger pin, the sound of BD change drastically (very low velocity, strange sound similar to bass chord)... No problems with the all the other sound generators. What I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance
@@somasynths Thanks for your reply. infact. Solved just now using the Erica Synths CV Processor (scale/offset module), connecting between the PNW output and the P23. Thanks.
This (and maybe the DFAM) could turn out to be a real milestone in the evolution of drum machines. Everything that existed before instantly sounds static, flat and lifeless in comparison. I can imagine we’ll see more semi-modular drum machines in the coming years.
Hi 👋 is it possible to get midi control over pitch of bass drum ? I know you can control the bass channel 2 but is this possible on bass drum channel also ?
Thanks Vlad. I missed scrolling down to the bottom of the user manual. In fact I found it just prior to seeing your comment. btw. I got a reply on December 19, regarding that I am now on the preorderlist :-) when will I see where in the que I am ? Thank you. Gary
I love this machine... but there is an issue with the kick.. it doesn't do consistent transients. The vermona mk1 and 2 had a similar issue that was fixed on mk3. So if you make dance music you'll need another source for your kick.
@somasynths I literally bought this brand new last week. Are you saying I need to buy a new pcb, take the pulsar to bits and replace the pcb inside to make the kick work properly... seems a bit odd.
might be cool for a guy like me if there was a miniature version of the pulsar 23 or whatever it's called,. I like the quality of the drum synthesis but some of the circuit bending gets too extreme for me to care much,. let's get a smaller version of this more compact with less circuit bending and having the drum sounds capabilities,.

Yes, all inputs are protected, so you can do experiments without worry to burn the machine. FX dirty because of the patching. FX itself is HQ 24bit

There are no 3.5-crock cables in the kit. But you have adapters in the left top corner. And of course you can do such cables yourself
