Brilliant video helps me a lot with other vehicles. It seems installers for Garmin hardwire can’t access fuse box on many modern vehicles and they are using OBD port which is constant live and therefore drains battery. I have changed settings now on Garmin as per video and works perfectly. Love the Chanel ❤
Thanks for the video. I had to move over to a switched live because of the battery draw, I'll put it back on the permanent supply and try out the settings. Just a mention from my experience, the internal batteries degrade quickly when subject to heat (sunny day car window). I have had the internal battery fail which in turn meant the dashcam was permanently charging as it couldn't reach a charged status.
Genuinely, such a useful video. What about the results on your whiteboard for the 522GW (what I have)…it looks like if I use the same settings as the 322GW (Parking Mode on / Auto Off off) it still draws power??
Hello Simon! My Drive Pro camera appears to close down completely and has never caused a problem BUT I suspect that the difference is that it lacks a movement sensor so if something attacked my car when parked, it stays dead which I guess means it is not draining. However it starts every time I open a door so appears to be on a permanently live socket. How do the inbuilt systems work..LR offer them as an option now…are those draining?? Good work and Welcome to Alicia!…your new trainee perhaps??😃😃😃😃Richard.
My brand new 622GW battery drain issue sadly wasn't fixed. Overnight regardless of what settings were used it was always flat the next morning. Transpires the 622GW has known battery issues which is a real pain with the car hardwired and rear camera also installed. All Nextbase were interested in was changing the battery for a fee of appx £48 but no guarantee that would solve the issue
Have you tried upgrading the firmware on the camera ? this is worth doing and easy to do with the Nextbase app... give it a go if you have not already.
I have a Thinkware 200pro which has a similar prob. Residual battery drain causes car battery to go so low it will not even download updates of software.
I've just purchased a 333gw. It was too hot to touch after first use and doesn't seem to hold any charge or work unless connected to the mount (Halfords installed into the OBD port for £55. I saw him do this and could have easily done in 10 minutes so don't pay for install just watch some vids) I wish I understood this video better but hope to work it all out as I live in rural Cornwall and people drive like maniacs here due to lack of police.
What model and version of software is the nextbase in this vedeo? could this behaviour you observed have been a bug thats now been retified in a later version? ...I'm only asking becasue when i had my 622GW (which arrived yesterday) hard wired to a perm live with "Auto Power Off" set to "Off" the blue charging light remained on well after 10 mins (it didn't go off like yours did) and i have changed "Auto Power Off" to "ON" and now the blue charging light turns off after 5 mins which is what i would expect. I am on the latest version R11.1
Hey why does my car side lights come on for no reason every 4/5 weeks evouque , when I disconnect battery overnight and reconnect it it's fine again for another 4/5 weeks. Dies it again , Thers no dash cam fitted. I can't work ut out what's your thoughts
Brilliant. Halfords fitted it and couldn’t work out why the battery was draining. This worked
Wow I am better than Halfords.... to be fair it was a low bar !

Interesting detail on internal battery… thanks
Top Man, this was doing my head in and its now sorted !

Thanks! But my Nextbase 320 XR doesn't have an "off" option under "Auto Power Off". The only options it has are 10 seconds, 1 minute, and 2 minutes.

Did you do this with a firmware update or out of the box? Auto power off consuming more power seems to be an early fix.

@@L663 Hi, yes was first thing I did before connecting to the car mount

I am not sure and Nextbase support were not helpful ! maybe i need to update the firmware on mine
Simon, does garmin mini2 have same issue?
How do you wire the dashcam? Permanent live or on ignition only?
If you want the parking mode function you need to wire to the battery +
