That was helpful As a student of english as second language, I really find it difficult to undrestand the author's ideas or sometimes references on history which makes it even harder since I'd have to not only check the dictionnary every 2 minutes, but also make little research to get a sens of context x) I'm tempted to put it down for the moment, but I dont want to give up. . Do u have any advice to solve this issue?
Hi, Sarah. I hope you didn't give up! It's really helpful to understand why something is difficult, and that much you've figured out. I would suggest choosing maybe 1 historical reference from each chapter to look up, whatever seems most important. As for the rest, no one does a "perfect" reading. With this book or any other, at some point, you just have to go with it. I like what David Bartholomae and Anthony Petrosky say: Read as if you understand, and sometimes you will.
hey is there any chance you could mention important notes to have for the first 44 pages? it's my summer reading book and I wanna be prepared to know the general knowledge that might be on a test. any help would be appreciated :)
Thank You so much! I have to read this book for ap and I was so scared. This really helped me out.
Great! Hope you enjoy it. :)
