Hey...I had a question. It seems you use horse bedding pellets, which, upon research, seem to be mostly constituted of pine. From my experience, rats have a severe pine allergy. Have you ever run into any issues with pine involving your rats, or are your pellets made from a different kind of wood or substance?
The process in which the pellets are processed practically removes all the toxic pine oils and I’ve been using horse pine pellets for years and never had any issues
Great vid mate and some good tips for me to use in my rodent facility. Even though mine isn’t even close to my home I still want to give them a clean fresh smelling air as I can’t just push air out. It’s too cold in the U.K. to do that all year around 😆
Just picked up some PDZ. Im one of the weird people that are not all that effected by bad smells lol. I had jobs that were much worse. That being said I still want to try and provide best housing for my colonies and having 4 females 1 male per tub it gets pretty smelly around day 5-6 So Im just hoping to help with that smell and start cleaning every 5 days. Might make a future video and was wondering if you mind that I mention your video and just put how its working for me? Appriciate you man and hope you and the fam are staying safe!
Thanks for good video. How you you have the carbon filter set up in your room? Just free standing? Use it to circulate the air in room as well or vent out?
I keep my breeding rats in an open barred cage made for finches, like a flight cage, I only have have two pair of breeders right now, and keep them on pine shavings.
First time seeing you. Some great advice that haven’t see before. Thank you my friend!! I will watch more of you now.
Thanks I appreciate the feedback!👍
Best info I have seen on keeping smell down. What brand of pine shavings are you using?
Thanks for the amazing feedback! I use Gem from Tractor Supply or tge Tractor Supply brand (white bag).
@@ZenOrcReptiles Thanks for the info brother. I look forward to more content.

No problem, hope it helps, it definitely does for me. It gives me at least a few more days of clean smell. I change my rats every 6-7 days.
Thanks for good video.

I have one carbon filter circulating air in the room. I also have one blowing out the window.
Thanks for the tip, going to try PDZ
It definitely helps with the smell. Stay safe!
Great video 🤘🏻

You ever have an issue with wild rodents getting in and eating your feed that you sit on top of the tubs?
I thought pine shaving made them cry blood?
You need to use kiln-dried pine shavings. The sap and oils have been purged from the pine.
Oh okay thanks for responding
I destroyed my wall and didn't see the đead rat and its smell is so gross
Yeah the smell can definitely get out of control if your not careful.
