It's the definitive version of the song for me. It has all the reflective emotion I would have thought Jim and Charlie had in mind when penning the song. Charlie's solo magnificent.
This was written last year for Lostboy! AKA but when Charlie Burchill liked it so much we decided that Simple Minds would "nick it!". Pleased me, as the lyrics are unashamedly nostalgic and centre directly on a few experiences Charlie and I shared as youths. Staying up all night, high as kites, wandering the streets of Glasgow, with our pupils dilating,
Just read on the Simple Minds website that the new album is produced by Steve Hillage, who produced Sons & Fascination / Sister Feelings Call. This is going to be the Simple Minds album the fans have been waiting for, I can feel it in my bones!
this is vey good. I love the bridge. the first time I've heard jim kerr not sound like a drunk pub singer in decades. reminds me of when he really sang. early/mid 80s and he sang with the perfect accent for simple minds - half scottish and half euro/german/french
You've got it in one. He sounds like his old self (i.e before Sparkle in the Rain), I just hope the studio version is the same. The melody here reminds me of 'Today I Died Again' except much more joyful. Definitely wouldn't sound out of place on the New Gold Dream album.
After the terrible 'Stagefright' (please guys, keep this well away from the new album), this track is a real return to form. Can definitely hear 'New Gold Dream' in the keyboards and guitar. I've wanted Simple Minds to return to the NGD sound for such a long time now, because everything they've made since has been a total disappointment. Whether Forbes/MacNeil will ever come back remains to be seen...
the guitar solo beginning at 4:42 is amazing. complimenti Charles Burchill!!

We are So so Priveledged...This is Outstanding..will they ever tire of Genuis???
best version. they really ballsed it up for the greatest hits thing
I agree with you ploperator.
But what about, the 'Big Music' album version? - for me, THAT really was terrible, whereas the greatest hits version was great.
@@timsmith1278 Yesh, dreadful.
Can't believe there has only been 78 views - this is an amazing track!
they do still have that knack of giving us that uplifting song and here we have it again. Nice one lads
this song is great material, its well blended, like a fine whisky
keep up the good work Jim n Co
This has to be the next single, nice to hear they'll be putting out studio versions of the newer stuff, including this great one.
The best band on the planet. None of them conceited either. THE BEST
Wonderful song , one more...Written by Charlie I think . I love everything anyway , no other music is so refined .
Verging on brilliance. Up there with the best songs on the last album, possibly better even.
Thanks for posting. It's one of the most beautiful song of SM where you can hear the magic an wonderful sound of Charlie's guitar!

die boyz sind auf dem Vormarsch. Ich freue mich so! The energy and the freshness of former times are back again.

Just great stuf. I love it. Thanks for posting!!!!!!!
Beautiful song! I just went to their first gig in Lisbon last week. With 53 years old, they still kick ass.
Didn't think much of this at first, have to admit it's a beautiful song. Best things often need time to blossom.
Top tune heard this thursday for the first time, still writing great material !!
I was at this gig live. Was an amazing night. Acoustics in the forest were amazing, I bought the CD and they totally ruined this in my opinion.
Good song that I'm sure will only get better as it gets road tested. Glad to see Simple Minds is remaining relavent after so many years.
Love this song from the first time I heard it,roll on 20th April Liverpool empire
