    As we all know, Poland's armed forces have been on a spending spree for the last few years. They are currently spending around 4% of their GDP on defense and will soon be a military powerhouse. They are buying insane amounts of HIMARS launchers, tanks, self-propelled artillery and so on, but how is the state of their air defense?

    In WW2, many Polish airmen made their way to Britain and joined the RAF. As they had battle experience, they were some of the most effective RAF pilots fighting the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. I am thankful that we have Poland as a NATO ally.

    Thanks Artur. Your Dudayev interview and related personal commentary was very interesting. I'm Australian and one of my good friends is an Estonian born in Australia. I remember being young, naive and hopeful in the time after the wall came down. I was having an "argument" with his aging father who had defended Estonia against the Russians in WW2 before being forced to fight for the Russians...probably a common situation. I said that Russia would become a new, democractic country and that the Cold War was over. He laughed and said to me " *Never* trust the Russians. *Never!* ". How I wish that he was still alive so that I could apologise and say to him how right he was.

    The reason 16% interest is bad, is that it kills business. If you are an entrepreneur you need capital to build youe business. Example: You build houses. People lend money to pay you to build their houses. But people can't afford loans with 16% interest. Nobody is buying houses. Your house-building business goes bakrupt. I don't know if this exact situation is very relevant in russia, but it applies to all business. It illustrates a trend.

    • @stupidburp
      @stupidburp 2 месяца назад +2

      16% is getting close to the maximum allowed interest rates in the USA, much higher is considered abusive. Imagine trying to fund a small business startup with only high interest credit cards. Possible but usually a bad idea.

    • @everettputerbaugh3996

      16% is what the banks pay to borrow the money that they loan to businesses and people -- they add 5%-10% for their own costs.

      Russia earns (profit) over a billion dollars per day thanks to its mineral wealth - new money coming into the country - meanwhile the UK and the US sink into further debt spending borrowed and printed money (net loss) and are reliant on imported food and energy. Yeah, Russia is a crap hole run by a dictator - but it's on a more solid financial footing than most of the debt-riddled west! Under Biden's administration the US has been running up 100 years worth of debt/QE every 100 days - this will cause an irrecoverable debt spiral - the end of the west as we know it. You will be spending more on interest than you do on defense within 5 years. This is the exact same trick New Labour pulled on the UK when they were in power - it's been managed-decline ever since.

    Artur, the central bank of Orcland has to raise interest rates to stop inflation caused by the collapse of the currency (rubbles or rocks or whatever they use.) This means everyone has to raise prices, especially the military industries and any deficit spending the Orc government does will be costing them at least the 16%. When you raise prices the people spend more on basics and can not participate in buying bonds to help fund the war or the government. Crushing the rubble is the fastest way to destroy Orcland.

    (9:08) When I studied International Studies in university, it was very apparent that Russia simply lacked soft power on the international stage. Their culture hasn't produced anything (technology, the arts) that can rival Western culture which is one of the major reasons why Russia isn't seen in a positive light (not forget about its history) and their language is not widely spoken. Additionally, having the freedom of the press and speech severely curtailed (now virtually non-existent) led to a "brain drain" that further damaged and reduced their soft power. Finally, economically speaking, the kleptocracy of the Russian system in the late 20th and early 21st centuries has robbed the Russian economy of bright and eager entrepreneurs leaving most of the power in the hands of old, decrepit, oligarchs. With that being said, NO sovereign state that was once part of the Soviet Union would be eager to be under the Russian sphere of influence or rejoin it; thus, why Eastern Europe has joined the E.U. and NATO. Now Putin is simply a "boomer" who is angry that the world has changed and left Russia behind so he is "table-flipping" the game and attacking.
