+Devious Raptor The Line isn't even that different from the other bosses lol, the most different bosses are The Edge and The Star, because they exclusively rely on melee and projectile combat, respectively. The Line has his timestop gimmick, just like every boss as some sort of interesting gimmick.
To add to that list of "different" bosses is the final boss in the Shuttle(or whatever it was called), where you had to attack different parts of the boss depending on the phase(trying not to spoil anything).
each shot on the mirror makes 1 ball , including charged , and 1-2 charged take out 1 mirror , and when hes on the pillar , each shot on it will make the wave thing , point is 2 take it slowly and make every shot count

This guy is the concept of bullet hell incarnate. This fight perfectly captures the chaos and zen you can feel at the same time when you have to *make every second count*
You have to be present the whole way in this fight, and most bullet hell games. Dodging bullets, moving around, and aiming at the target all at the same time. It is an amazing experience I only find when im drawing, being present in the moment.
I'm going for 100%, and let me tell you, when you manage to beat the bosses without taking a hit, while music like this plays, you feel like a fucking god.
Idk if I'm ever gonna be able to do that, last time I played this game was a few months back on furier, this guy must have taken me almost 2 hours just to beat while taking multiple hits and kos

Waveshaper is a beast, love he’s music, if someone makes a cyber futuristic movie with warriors battling out in alleyways and on skyscrapers in a city whilst wearing black armour with neon lights flashing then they need this guy to do the music
Idk why but this old man really felt like my teacher, teaching me to slow down and see how to really play this game to think then act. The music stayed with me with each boss after reminding me not to be afraid, to make every second count, to see the picture, to set it in motion.

Not because he had hopes to win, but because it would give you the strenght and skill to go out of prison and finally win over the Star. He knew they were all going to die all along, for their planet to be saved by you.
They died for their home planet. But they didn't die fighting the alien menace, they died training the only one capable of fighting the alien menace. And about that rabbit-faced man... he just wanted to see his beloved daughter while being a valuable advisor.
This is the most memorable fight for me, just all of the quotable lines, uniqueness of fighting yourself, this BANGER, and the implications that this guy knows he's gonna lose but fights anyways.
this boss is even more sadder than the beat for me. He knew why you were sent to the Free World, he tried to warn people, but no one listened to him. And i think he accepted that the world was doomed.
My favorite thing about this booss is that when you get out of the fight you really feel like like you got better, going with the bosses' flows instead of basically rushing in, because if you try to go force everything against him you're just fighting a wall

SHOOT AS FAST AS YOU CAN, CUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN, AND THEN- Die a lot. The Line was a perfect example of mixing gameplay with narrative. He is a gurú, and he is trying to teach you a lesson using both perspective and patience, and how do we defeat him? With perspective and patience. You need to use the charged shoot to destroy the pillars because in that way you will only need to evade 12 bullets, while shooting a lot will cause you to become a Touhou Girl trying to survive. Even the song is great... "Wisdom of rage", you can feel how even in his chillin out personality, that old man is trying his best to defeat you.

Surprisingly, this was one of the hardest bosses for me. Even compared to The Edge or The Burst, the patience needed for this fight really threw me for a loop.
As soon as I understood what this boss was trying to teach me, his fight stopped being frustrating and instead felt like a training montage,each obstacle became a lesson, this game really clicked for me at this moment.

I'm not sure about your description of the Edge. As I see it, he lost sight of his purpose. The purpose of the Jailers is to keep the Stranger locked in. That should have been the Edge's goal as well, but eventually his goal became to just master his craft and fight the greatest fight of his life. There's a world of difference between honoring your opponent, and straight up giving them advice and encouragement on how to make the fight better.
The Chain didn't lose only because he was arrogant, but it was because of his sadistic pleasure that he enjoyed torturing The Stranger, and saw fighting him as a game/was very cat-mouse with him., everything else was pretty spot on tho

@@saitamasama5743 I disagree, throwing away a sword in favor of an oar is perfectly valid if you have the strength to use it. The oar gives you more range and WAY more blunt force to work with. Realistically, range alone gives a massive advantage and power allows you to easily break guards. In real life simple staff's are very competitive weapons against swords for those two reasons. Only reason they weren't used in warfare is because people put points on them and made spears. An oar in comparison would be much slower but stronger due to weight balance issues, but the Edge clearly has the strength to use his oar without any speed loss. All of this is especially true if the Edge has more skill with the oar. Martial artists have been known to drop weapons entirely due to a lack of familiarity relative to their hands. Swapping out a weapon that isn't really working in favor of a longer, stronger alternative that you also happen to be more skilled with makes perfect sense.
The last phase is like taking adderall and just finishing all your work before you even realize how you did it. You don't remember how, but you achieved minutes of laser focus straight and you will never so do again.
I found this due to an Elden ring montage and have to say it has been a while since a tune grabbed me instantly. Sounds like the 80's synthwave revolution for scifi films.
I find it fitting how this dude has an "old master" personality. Cause beating this guy pretty much proves you have the skills to beat the rest of the game.
Haven't played the game, but this absolutely is it's own stand alone piece of art, like most of the soundtrack tbh. Composers, you did such an amazing work holy shit.
I really appreciate music in general, but the soundtrack for this game, and in particular for this game, unites so well the gameplay experience with the feeling of the music. It's just glorious. Excellent composition. This is why soundtracks cannot be passed off as just filler music - sometimes special compositions arise.
1:30 hits so hard the first time you hear it in game. you spent forever trying to get in melee range of this frail old man. and then it turns out the old man has a giant sword and he KICKS ASS with it.
Lots of people talking about how the Line is super cool and he is, don't get me wrong, but what he did for me was solidify how truly dangerous the Stranger really is. Think about it, this guy can in a field control the flow of time, he can peer into the future as if it was a movie and the Stranger did not incapacitate him, he didn't remove his ability to influence or peer through time... he "made the picture stop"
I haven't even played the game and I love this piece of music. There's such a contagious pulse and rhythm to it that makes listening to it very engaging when writing action scenes in stories and stuff
In my opinion my favorite thing about this guy is the final phase music you would feel intense if you listened to this on headphones while fighting the guy
The music in this battle cinched the entire game for me. Fighting the line was the testing grounds for your ability for the rest of the game realizing that it was only getting harder from there and the line was NOT simple.
Here's a tip for beating this dude: Do like Rich Homie Quan and never stop goin' in. You can interrupt his big swings and wave attacks by charging up your attack a bit and doing it right before. He'll then do normal, parriable attacks. Always try to hit him with charged attacks when he's not on shooting mode. If he's shooting, there is a pattern to it. If you have experience with shmups, you'll see it super easy.

Touhou path isn’t that hard as long as you consistently travel in only one direction. Takes a lot longer though.

I really appreciate music in general, but the soundtrack for this game, and in particular for this game, unites so well the gameplay experience with the feeling of the music. It's just glorious. Excellent composition. This is why soundtracks cannot be passed off as just filler music - sometimes special compositions arise.

Lots of people talking about how the Line is super cool and he is, don't get me wrong, but what he did for me was solidify how truly dangerous the Stranger really is. Think about it, this guy can in a field control the flow of time, he can peer into the future as if it was a movie and the Stranger did not incapacitate him, he didn't remove his ability to influence or peer through time... he "made the picture stop"

The music in this battle cinched the entire game for me. Fighting the line was the testing grounds for your ability for the rest of the game realizing that it was only getting harder from there and the line was NOT simple.

Here's a tip for beating this dude: Do like Rich Homie Quan and never stop goin' in. You can interrupt his big swings and wave attacks by charging up your attack a bit and doing it right before. He'll then do normal, parriable attacks. Always try to hit him with charged attacks when he's not on shooting mode. If he's shooting, there is a pattern to it. If you have experience with shmups, you'll see it super easy.
