- This is the parade on Moscow's Red Square commemorating the 45th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, 9 May 1990. This would be the final Victory Day parade during the Soviet Union's existence. This parade would be the first to feature camouflage painted vehicles, as well as some new ones. Taking the salute is Minister of Defense, Marshal of the Soviet Union Dmitriy Yazov. Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, Colonel General Nikolai Kalinin. Music performed by the Combined Orchestra of the Moscow Garrison, conducted by Major General Nikolai Mikhailov.

Очень знаменательный и гордый Парад Победы нашей Великой Советской Родины. По удивительной причине с 1987 года именно эта странная версия гимна играла до 7 ноября 1990 с изменённой тональностью. Скорее всего знали о распаде, и тем самым хотели подчеркнуть события. Это Настоящий и Великий Парад Победы только потому, что в нём участвуют Ветераны(Фронтовики) Войны. Слава Нашей Славной Советской Родины, Союз Советских Социалистических Республик.

@Felix88 you need Anti Infantry Tank support such as the new "Terminator", when you got mixed units youre better protected, tanks are not for city warfare! Tanks are for large movements in the open such as in Ukraine in WW2, Charkow, or Kursk

It is just sad for T 80UD, it was showed in two parades and then being thrown to Pakistan or left in scratch.

Well this started when gorbachev became the president of the USSR and gave the speech on 1990 revolution day and the plan was to continue this trend for the following years but you know what happend on 91

Why is Mikhail Gorbachev not giving the speech
I don't know what the reason. Maybe its be a their tradition. In the tradition, Minister of Defence (or high level Soviet military leader) always giving speech: Victory Day and Revolution Day Parade (in November 7), not Soviet leader (especially General Secretary of the CPSU). Except in 1990 Revolution Parade-final military parade in Soviet era (in this parade, Gorbachev as the President of the Soviet Union and General Secretary of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union) giving speech).
From 1995-now (4 year after Soviet dissolution), Russian President always give speech in parade-Victory Day Parade.
I’m assuming that the defense minister is Marshall Yazov?
Yes, however he unfortunately passed away last February in 2020.

Even the intonation of narrater is sad and exhausted, which maybe a sign of the collapse of the union.

Unfortunately the name of this march has been a mystery, even experts don't know what its called, who composed it, and when it was created.

The country was dying at this point. You could tell something was not right in the country 6 months earlier at the November parade, but by the time of this parade, you could really see the country was dying. And then November 1990 was essentially the USSR funeral parade.
@@RedSamurai84 Yeah it's very sad to watch. Even the applause for Gorbachev and the Central Committee were as sorry as anything compared to the applause and cheers Brezhnev got in the earlier parades. I'll never understand why the party didn't oust him like they did Malenkov and Khrushchev.

This is all well and good, but *where* are they marching to? Do they just come to a point and go "well, that was fun, let's go home"?
It was done to commemorate the victory in ww2. And I guess the soviet people needed something inspirational. They had recently lost their eastern European empire( and the cold war) and there was discontent among the non russian republics in the baltics. A parade is usually done to commemorate something or to boost the country's morale. The Soviet people needed a morale booster badly. Unfortunately their country collapsed in December 1991.

Because the Country Is collapsing politically and economical,in the video is 9th May 1990,Lithuania had already declared indipendence at that point,there were several rebellions all alone the Union,for example Baku in January of the same year,had Lost the entire Warsaw Pact,that the following year Will be abolished

Because so there were so many rebellions and killings happening throughout the country. Local communist party bosses were stealing everything. Ethnic elites wanted to rule over their own republic as an independent country. Lithuania had already declared independence. Berlin Wall had fallen in 1989 and Warsaw Pact was de facto dead by the time of this parade. Soviet economy experienced a recession for the first time since 1945. The mighty soviet empire which was one of the strongest empires the world had ever seen was collapsing under its own weight.
