Oh my goodness! These young kids don't realize that they shook hands with a living legend!!! Despite the fact that they didn't know who he was or never heard of his music, Neil was so gracious and so humble and even gives them encouragement. Neil Diamond is an extraordinary human being.
Do you seriously think that the residents of the Drag Queen Kids Socialist Sodomite Republic or DQKSSR for short (formerly known as the United States) to recognize a legendary true musician like Neil Diamond?? They’re way too busy identifying sexually as “they” and “them”, unless of course they’re trying to figure out which bathroom to use. Between children being given irreversible transgender surgery and dancing as drag queens the DQKSSR is the world’s anus.
Oh my god how did they not know him?? And the older guy that came into the conversation later he didn’t either. I’d have stuck on Lady Magdalene and washed that man’s feet. That said the young lads were very civil and respectful towards him. But imagine you’d kids and they came home and told you that they’d met a guy called zNeil Diamond a singer??? I’d be gutted that they got to stand and chat to him and that I wasn’t there!😢
Great scene with the black guys! They don't know one of the greatest and most succesfull singer song writers from the last century, and mister Diamond doesn't mind at all. What a personality! Greatings from Belgium.
I'm imagining these teens going home & telling their parents, " Some guy who said he wrote Red Red Wine & Crackling-something was chatting with us today. Ever heard of him?" & maybe that Mom or Dad freaking out with excitement!
Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (110Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire spots of Cigarettes. It frustrated me.They have me removed me from the Neil Diamond Fan Club because I had this listed on their site.Never Excuse of Neil Diamond
This was probably shocking and refreshing to Neil Diamond to have some people not know who he was and for him to tell a story without someone asking him to sign this, sign that how much they love you and tell him they want to marry him. Ha Ha Love This!
Really cool to see him interact with those young kids. The only shame is they had no clue what music he was referring to! What a tragedy... they don't have the slightest clue who they just had the pleasure of speaking with! Oh my gosh...

I wonder if these 'guys' were curious enough to look up the songs Neil told them about only to discover they had talked with one of the most talented musicians/songwriters of our time? Since they were featured in the DVD, I'm sure they must have been clued in at some point. Gosh, I hope so! What a nice guy Neil is!
I was thinking the same thing. How could you have not at least heard of Neil Diamond? I guess these kids were brought up on hip/hop and their parents were probably the same way. But they missed out on a great. I still listen to Love On The Rocks.
I suspect when he said, 'I AM', he was referring to God. It would make sense, considering many of his songs do. "I AM, I said" seems likely to be a cry out to God from a man who was hurting and/or lost.
WOW!!! Neil says "I am just a singer" did you forget you write some truly wonderful songs! ahh these fellows never went to a ball game, NY METS playing Sweet Caroline. Your a real New Yorker
I got this DVD as a Christmas present from my son. Just love to see where he was living and to see the staircase which he was singing about in that most beautiful and personal song of `Brooklyn roads`. It really touches my soul,I can picture them in their dads arms. Back then kids still had a lot of imagination and life was so much easier.
I wonder if it was almost easier for Neil Diamond to chat with them since they weren’t freaking out on him... Nothing like being in your old neighborhood. Oh, he was lovely to them, wasn’t he.
@@billyzink they looked like good kids .what a racist thing to say. I see why black people don't like people like you. Thank God Neil isn't like you. It's called reaching out. If they were white would you make such an ignorant remark?
Okay let me explain, it’s not surprising in general that 18-year-old kids don’t know who he is. And it’s even less surprising that 18-year-old kids of more than likely west Indian (or now the proper term is Caribbean) decent don’t know who he is. If these kids heard a Neil Diamond song on the radio they might recognize it just maybe. And, I’m not surprised that the older west Indian gentleman barely knew who he was either. It would have been the random black kid in this immediate situation that would have known who he was or his music right off the bat. With all this said I’m not saying black people don’t know who he is it’s just not going to be someone in this crowd. Plus, their parents, friend and others in their inner circle are probably not listening to Neil Diamond songs either although they might be able to identify one on the radio more readily then these kids. Now, an 18 year old white kid may have recognized him or may have recognized his music on their own or through experiences with family and friends. However, a person regardless of color (but proportionally more white people) and definitely of a particular older age would have the highest likelihood of knowing him and his music. By the way I’m 54 years old and black raised in San Francisco (although I was born and now live again Brooklyn) and I definitely know who he is and have always love Neil Diamond's music. I was just hoping someone would have greeted him with,“welcome home Neil Diamond Brooklyn has been waiting all this time for your return!”
Jerry, These kids would hear his music and steal his beats and sample all over Sweet Carloline. He should have pulled up a cell phone and plays a few tunes or his playlist on iTunes.

1982, my wife and I were newlyweds and poor. We spent our last dollars to get tickets to see Neil Diamond in concert. When we got to our seats, we were told the tickets we purchased were stolen and we were escorted out of the St. Paul Civic Center. Never saw the concert. And we had no ride home. Very sad memory.
Oh Justin, that´s quite sad! Me & my husband saw him in the early 90ies in Munich´s Olympia hall after the "Iron curtain" went down and we had finally the opportunity. Awfully lot of money for us then. Slightly disappointed because he gave no " Da capo´s" at the end. And I missed a bit of the typical american spirit on stage. Nethertheless my favourite since the 70ies even in a communist regime!
I am so sorry about your unfortunate experience. I know I would have been heartbroken. I never got to see Neil Diamond in concert either, but I am enjoying the made video clips on RUclips of him performing. I hope you are too.

Neil Diamond's down-to-earthness, warmth, and humbleness is his most endearing quality of all!.
