Congrats Vaughan on10,000+ looking forward to the Swan maintenance series and tent trailer project - exactly what we have been looking to do to our trailer 😊
Keep doing what you are doing, couple of ideas that might work. Fault finding - common fridges, water tanks and meters, awnings, different control units. 12v - How to install an inverter 12v - Installing additional solar panels 12v - How to install anderson plug on vehicle 12v - Installing dc2dc charger 12v - upgrading to lithium batteries General storage tips and tricks Beginner caravan must haves and best places to source. Water hose etc Do some more reviews of the other Jayco vans and differences with newer models. Maybe see if you can test one out for a night or two.
Some great ideas there. Actually quite a few I've thought about and not formally added to our list such as storage tips, beginner must haves etc. I also have a few 12v project ideas and run throughs. Some are a bit trucks such as controls and the like as you need access to various types but let me see what I can do 😉👍
I have it and it's looking like a very straightforward install, so will get that done and out shortly. I'd love to have it in for our next trip in a fortnight so I can test it out 👍
No problems Cam and thank you. I do have this on my list and keep putting it off. I actually do need to do this so might add that to the Swan list including the draw bar tap which has also been on the list and requested 😊
Yes, I am very keen to do this also and will probably ADC that to the Journey. There are a few ways you can go so have been looking into what we will do but will cover as much as I can in an episode as I feel that will help quite a few 👍
Just found your channel, love it! You talked about wiring your external solar panel to Solar Input on your battery management System on your Journey, love to see it.
Obviously understand the cost factor of going lithium in the Journey, but I would love to see that fridge drawer go into the swan. Mainly so I can see how it might look in my own Swan. Keep up the good work Vaughn, I just finished collecting up the bits to try out the power bank powered camp lights and will be trying it out this weekend when we head off camping.
Awesome Ben. Let me know how it goes. Yes, I've been thinking the Swan for a while now. I think that's where it will eventually go as it makes a lot more sense. The good thing is the dinette seating cabinets are pretty much identical between the two.
Thanks for the support. Yes, 100% we do need to do that draw bar tap. I would probably include the 12v pump as part of that which I did start developing a parts list for. I will try to get to that as it will be a great video to add into the suite 👍
Congratulations on 10.000 subscribers. Enjoyed this update Video. We have a Jayco Wren, similar to the Penguin. Just take care winding up or down. Would be interested in a comparison Video on portable power stations. Bluetti, Jackarie or Ecoflo if you are doing one. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Vaughan. You must be a legend, as you even have the same spelling as me!! I feel a better understanding of the lifting mechanism would actually help a lot out. I do have plans for a portable power station review also. It's just finding 3 with similar specs etc. Actually I've noticed a few of the Bluetti's have a 12v RV outlet rated quite high which I think will address the lack of a decent 12v DC output and Anderson on many of these units. Bluetti previously approached me, so I might go back and see if I can get one of those to review 👍
Well done. Great channel. More videos on the Jayco outback. More videos on off grid set ups. How to set up an inverter inside your van. Keep the great videos coming.
Thank you very much. An inverter will be a great video, so let me see what I can do there. Agree with the more off-grid setups as well. We do a combination of both and to be honest after talking to a few over the past months there is some great content ideas running through even the basics 👍
As a new subscriber I have looked at all your RUclips videos on your Ranger just to see if I can adapt them to my Musso ute. Also interested in your Swan videos (next on the list for binge watching) as my wife and I want to get into some form of touring again. As a Victorian I am certainly interested in your heater installation as it has started getting cold again.
Hopefully the Ranger videos help you out. I certainly need to get cracking on the diesel heater install as winter has crept up on us quickly. I will also have that buyers guide out eventually however more than happy to send out the word checklist I've been developing 👍
Hey Champ, great videos that I'm finding a great source of information/insipration. Did you ever come up with a solution to secure the dune tub to the rack on the ute in such a way that someone can't just cut straps & walk off with all your stuff? When my Wildtrak arrives next month I'm going to copy our false floor but I'm thinking of covering it with a rubber mat only. Thought it might be easier to clean than carpet. What do you think?
Getting a Kings rack very soon so your videos are great. I have the Platinum V6. So many projects you have coming up, can’t wait. Do you have a link for the diesel pump please ? Found one on eBay but not sure if it’s the same as yours. Keep up the good work.
I will go through and see where we got the pump from. I'm pretty sure it will be a fairly generic eBay item however will check. With the Platinum just not the Kings rack will most likely impact the sliding sail plain, I did quickly look at one when they first came out but can't remember. Does it use the slot on the roller shutter we fix the rack to for the sliding mechanism?
I’ll be removing the sliding rack as I’ll never use it. I’ll actually be mounting the rack up on the side on my tub, not on the aluminium runner. I got j bracing installed but shouldn’t need Triple M aluminium slide bracing as it’s mounted on the actual tub. I have photos from another bloke off the Platinum FB site.
I’m interested in a portable air-conditioner system and was thinking about the EcoFlow wave 2 for my swan perhaps you could do a video on this or do you have an opinion on it
This is a really interesting topic. I actually watch a lot of RUclips, generally out of my 'genre' and more US car and truck based. Casey Ladelle often does EcoFlow reviews. I know he has done the fridge but not sure about the Wave 2. I'm also very curious. You also have the Breeze 2 available through Anaconda however I know they don't quite cut it in larger spaces like campers, especially on hot days. You really need at least 3kw, many suggest even 4kw. It could make a really interesting video, it's just trying to collect or get hold of a number of different units. I do actually have some temperature reading gear, so could probably quantify to some extent also.
Congratulations on hitting the 10,000 mark, I must admit I've been watching your vlogs for awhile but only just realised I wasn't subscribed! I've now rectified that. I just wanted to ask about the sponsored product's you use. I love the idea of a power bank to run the fridge in the ute but I assume and hope you would give an honest opinion on the brands of power banks you use?
Hi Andy and many thanks. Yes, I actually edited out a section where I rambled on about this. I've actually done a few videos and then binned them as I wasn't happy with the product. I also turn down a lot of requests as they either don't suit what we do or look a bit cheap and nasty. Others I've developed a great relationship with, such as Royce from 3D Print RV. A few others I've bought from personally and made a video or mentioned as I love the quality and they offer to send something else I er to try, such as a rack I have now to test for Matt from Triple M Tub Racks. EcoFlow, Bluetti and Jackery have a great reputation and all work very well. With the River Pro - I would now get the Pro 2 as it has a LiFePO4 battery. I actually use ours a lot and it has been faultless. The Jackery is a much bigger beast and so far I haven't had any issues. The one thing I do point out is that none of them really have a great 12v DC out other than the cigarette style port or USB. I noticed the other day that Bluetti actually do have a good rated 12v 'RV' port suited to running multiple things such as pumps etc. I'm actually now very keen to test one of these out if I can somehow get one.
Hi James there are still a fair few videos I could make. I will see how many I can squeeze in before it will sadly have to go up for sale. A few have requested the draw bar tap etc. I do think a video on how you would swap to lithium would also be very valuable, along with additional USB/charging points etc. I also had an idea for a detailing video - run through how to clean and care for the canvas, flies, clear plastic windows, outsides and even decal removal etc.
Thanks for making our caravaning more enjoyable.
Congrats!
I like to see some good caravan park reviews.
