    Most Indian weddings are crashable. Unlike a strict 200 guests for an American wedding with set seating arrangements, Indian weddings can have upto 2000 guests. My Niece wedding in Hyderabad had 2500 guests. The trick is to be dressed elegantly and appropriately. Even if they know you are crashing, they would not mind. In this case, they are in casual tourist cloths and their Indian friend is in Shorts and a check shirt. A Total no-no for a Wedding. This is probably the reason why they were not asked to stay for dinner or maybe everyone was so busy. But since Layne and friends are not dressed appropriately, the right thing would be to politely decline even if the hosts asked them to stay for dinner. I would be totally out of place in casual everyday cloths among a sea of elegant and regal wedding outfits.

      Yes it was a high end wedding. If the girls had introduced themselves and asked politely for the permission to see an Indian wedding, chances are that the host would be gracious and allowed them to stay and even attend dinner.
      Mind you most places have per head payment, and it would have cost the host money, but traditionally we treat our guests well...."Aththi devo bhav"....meaning Guests are like God.♥️

      Come one guys. A little reading goes a long way.
      Hindu was geographical term given by the persians. The river Sindhu was called Hindu. Because of the S and H swap by Persians. even today. Sapt is 7 and Hafta is 7 in farsi. from which we get Hafta for a week - 7 days.
      later anyone who wasn't Muslim (Persian, arab and turcik) was termed Hindus, Christians included. because it was a geographic term. But everyone knows this.
      Now to religion. Just because Hinduism is a recent nomenclature for the religion, doesn't mean there was no religion earlier.
      If i gave you a name after 21 years of your birth, doesn't mean you were born when your name changed. u are still the same person you were 21 years ago.
      So there were hindus long before the name Hinduism was imposed on them.
      Sanatan dharma is rather a recent name given during the Hindu renaissance by the likes of the reformers, raja ram mohan roy, dayanand saraswati (that era) etc... because hindus wanted to reclaim their religion and did not want to take an imposed name.
      In the past, there were hindus of various philosophies, Shaiva, vaishnav, shakta, mimansa, samkhya etc... where were what we call hindus today.
      You can divide PEOPLE in terms of brahman, kshatriya, vaishya and shudra. But the religion is divided into diffrent philosophies. like Shaiva, vaishnav, shakta, mimansa, samkhya etc. dont confuse them. you could be vaishaya, kshatriya etc and belong to these philosophies.
      The definition of hindus has always been people who hold the "vedas" as the primary scripture. If their name changed in the far future, doesn't mean the religion was invented that time. There were people believing in the veads since 1500BC. In today's term we would call them hindus.
      Religion is a roman concept, its a definition that most of the world follows. But hinduism is a religion and more. As it doesn't fully fit the definition of religion, and that's why there is confusion.
      Because the concept of religion is a bit different in India, there was no 1 name given (doesn't mean there was no unifying factor - like i said anyone who holds Vedas supreme is Hindu) you could be vaishnav, shaiva, vedanta etc... people used to be part of sampradayas. like madhava or shankara etc. the uniting factor was they all believed in Vedas. religion evolve, doesn't mean they didn't exist earlier.
      if you wish have a look at my timeline about indian hindtory 6000BC to present its a wip
      www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/872834/History-of-South-Asia/

    • @incubusk8r
      @incubusk8r 6 лет назад +2

      @Hustle
      Be very careful of the words you use.
      Aryavarta extended from the north of India, magadha region, to pakistan and parts of afganistan in the west and only till the Vindhyas, it doesn't include the south.
      Bharat on the other had is defined as south of the himalayas and north of the ocean.
      i see you have gone in the etymology of the word Dharma. i love it when people put in that much effort, its rare in youtube comments. kudos to you brother.
      But here is the problem:
      Yes the word Dharma existed earlier.
      Even Santana existed earlier.
      But have the been used together, to mean a religion?
      example: "Desh Prem" read: Patriotism
      The word 'desh' existed long before the idea of a 'nation state' existed.
      The word Prem existed long before the idea of a nationalism existed.
      But the term "desh prem" came together recently, after the idea of a nation state. Only once you have a nation can you be patriotic about it. As the construct of patriotism isn't a civilizational concept, but a nationalistic one. Patriotism emerges from nation state, it's a very new concept. Imagine only before ww2 (1945), there were kingdoms and not nation state/Countries.
      i mean i could go into the etymology of 'desh' and 'prem', but still not prove the idea of desh prem as Patriotism.
      like wise, you can go to the etymology of Sanatan and Dharma. but still it bares no evidence of Sanatan dharma as a religion.
      in fact, see my next comment where i show you evidence that would have made more sense had you given it, and then tell you why its incorrect.

    • @incubusk8r
      @incubusk8r 6 лет назад +3

      @Hustle
      Now i could have stopped after the first reply, as i gave you a valid, coherent, logical answer to your question. But, I dont consider this as a debate to win, but a chance to learn from each other, that's why i am giving you more points to prove your claim and then tell you why I THINK its wrong, thought at the first glance it shouts "BINGO".
      We are trying to understand, rather than win an argument. i hope we are on the same page. :)
      now, as far as i have read, the only place 'something close to sanatan dharma' is mentioned in the Gita (no where else) and that to with a different name. I will give you evidence to prove your point. but then tell you why it might be not be in the context of religions we know it.
      Bhagavad Gita 11.18
      tvam akṣaraḿ paramaḿ veditavyaḿ
      tvam asya viśvasya paraḿ nidhānam
      tvam avyayaḥ śāśvata-dharma-goptā
      sanātanas tvaḿ puruṣo mato me
      śāśvata-dharma is literally ‘the eternal law’ - You who protect the eternal Dharma
      Now in one glance it looks like, here is proof from gods own mouth. but
      point 1: It not (sanatan) but (sasvata) (dharma).
      So if you called it sasvata dharma i would agree with you at first then disagree on the context.
      Well let's say what's in a name, the idea is the same. so what if they are two words. how does the name matter, the meaning is important.
      The irony is we are discussing about a name.
      Point 2: Krishna mentions it as a Dharma. You have gone into the etymology, great. but what is the context. as you know dharma has many meanings and they change depending on the context.
      Does he mean the eternal path or a religion? in terms of civilization and duty? (what we know as religion today an connect with Sanatan dharma)
      or
      Does he mean the eternal 'natural law/order' of things?
      both are dharma, but very different. it seem to be it is the latter. read the whole verse to get the context.
      point 3: If it were a name for the religion, dont you think it would have been mentions some where else? And defined as such, after all, its the name of a region.
      I mean why is the frequency of use of the the word Sanatan Dharma is so low in the religious scrptures.
      And so high after the hindu Renaissance? or after Arya Samaj.
      Consider all 3 points together and you will see why am i skeptical.
      I am more than happy to be corrected, like i said the point is to learn and not to win and argument to please my ego.
