- Disney historians share their insight on why Walt Disney portrayed several American frontier heroes on his Disneyland Anthology Series. Through interviews, clips and memorabilia we get a treasure trove of Disney television history in this entertaining bonus feature on the Walt Disney Treasures: The Swamp Fox DVD.
Was a Walt Disney fan as an infant and still enjoy the early WD productions as a grey haired old man. Thanks
Every Sunday night at 7 PM on ABC … Wonderful World of Disney
I was disappointed to see that there isn't a ninth episode of The Swamp Fox, but am grateful and glad to get to see this documentary. I was not quite old enough for the Crockett craze, but I did as very young girl somehow absorb the example of the Swamp Fox and found a hero who has shaped my life in many ways. Thank you, Keeping Walt in Disney, for posting this find old series.
I’m glad you loved it! So did I! The series ended rather abruptly, right? Glad we have the eight shows though!
Wow, that was fascinating! I'm so glad you shared this. Great stuff!! Loved hearing about the Davy Crockett hat mania (I wonder what did become of those warehouses full of raccoon-skin hats?) Thanks for another wonderful program!
Poor Walt, he must be rolling over in his grave seeing what the company he built has become.
I miss the old days of Walt Disney.
Thank you so much for this video. Also love the name " keeping Walt in Disney! To bad this company now has kind of put him on the shelf and doesn't really follow the moral spirit of Walt. I'm glad I grew up and was able to see him on television the last few years of his life. I no longer feel the company is no longer Walts Disney .
Thanks for the comment! I think Walt is still a positive influence in the company, sometimes they stray and treat him as a corporate mascot, and other times he is revered and respected; so he is still there and it’s my aim to keep Walt a part of Disney today, and that’s why I share these things! I also don’t share these programs so as to compare with what Disney does today, rather, to just enjoy the things of the past, shows that put a smile on my face!
@keepingwaltindisney , a corporate mascot is better than Republicans perverting his legacy and making him into a mascot for their hatreds and prejudices.
"I do not make films for children... or, at least, not primarily for children."
"You're dead if you aim for kids."
"We design the films to appeal to ourselves."
"The adults have the money; ... children don't have any money."

To bad Disney does not support the morals and family values that made Disney a family American success!
ditto that
Well, no matter what Disney does today they can’t erase this solid gold History! Look for the good and toss out what you don’t like! That’s how you’ll be a happy Disney fan for all time!
Exactly. Don't ruin it for everyone. @@keepingwaltindisney
It's too bad the children of today are not being taught about American history and heroes. They are being taught to be proud of their sex preferences. We are doomed without knowing our history.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Unlike the idiocy of today's WOKE/DEI Disney, I still love the old Disney and especially Walt for all he did.
@@Hemidakota what I do is just completely separate the two and not worry about what I don’t like. I’m much happier that way and the joy I experience watching Walt’s content isn’t diminished whatsoever!
Those old timey white middle class conservative values of 1950s Disney were eye-rollingly dorky even back in the day.
You obviously weren't there
Perhaps, but Disney and these "middle class conservative values" were a significant part of American culture. If we all want to live together in harmony and respect then we must respect and to a certain degree, appreciate one another's cultural upbringing.
Thats just your deep seated racist hatred for people in the 1950's. Is it better to have what we have in todays world things like smash and grab, car jacking, massive auto theft, Massive murder ? open border nightmare ? Than living in the 1950's that had none of that nonsense. Is this what you are defending ? Yes, you do belong in todays world.
Too many people think they know who Walt Disney was when, in reality, their view was and is extremely superficial and based on decades of mischaracterizations.
