For anyone else following this guide and having issues getting the ST Link to connect, pull the housing off and wire to the correct pin based on the PCB, not on the case screen printing. I wasted a lot of time trying to make this work before I found another youtube video pointing this out. The pinout on my dongle DOES NOT match the housing.
Looking forward to trying this out next time I have a firmware update, huge thanks to Moonraker devs and Eddie for making it accessible! Now if only I could update my SKR e3 minis without flipping the printer, future updates would all be effortless!
In my case there are actually 6 wires that are necessary to flash as the boot pin and 3.3v both have to be connected to the 3.3v source to flash. Maybe you have your connector already shorted?
Is anyone aware of a 3dmodel (step preferred) for the huvud or any of the can toolhead controllers for that matter. I'm thinking about gutting a commercial 3d printer and I'd like to see if I can fit one of these in the extruder on it. Thanks!
Thanks. I had a bit of a mess trying to download and open the files in Kicad 6 and when I did get them open there was hardly any parts on the board for some strange reason and the version number looked to be 0.41 not 0.61. Rather than slip into a rage I emailed the designer and he graciously sent me a step for 0.61. If the .61 files are on github hiding somewhere though let me know. I'm not super proficient with Kicad but would like to have a look at them. Great videos - keep up the good work !
I'll wait for your ebb36/42 guide :), I wanted to try it on my own but I am kindly reluctant since there are no pinouts or traces for connecting a st-link and I am fearful of bricking the board 😁

LOL at the dragon's hoard of stepper motors in the background
Yeah, your videos are great. Everything about them. Clear and to the point. And very calming to listen to. Please make.more.
Thanks!
Great video and thanks for helping the community.
Eddie, please share your knowledge more frequently. You are so knowledgeable. Your videos are so good.
The can bootloader is a true lifesaver for a multi board setup!
Hi Eddie, this video is awesome....followed your directions accurately and it worked first time. Thanks.
Can you do. Video on how to connect the EBB36 or other can tool boards directly through Octopus MCU board? Without a can har board.
Totally worked for the BTT EBB 36 V1.2 using some small mods. Flashed canboot using usb menuconfig settings per board instructions. Thank you
Awesome! Glad it worked out
That sounds great. I think I will give it a try 😉
Nice video as always, thanks Eddie 👍🏻

This is awesome, thanks Eddie!
This was the best video. Super helpful! How did you go adding the Huvud to your Trident with a Stealthburner?
Have you tried installing canboot with dfu-util? Can't seem to get it to work while i wait for my stlink (works fine for klipper)

great video working on EBB36 too. thank you
have you ever daisy chained CAn in Kliper
awesome stuff as always.

Yes! If you open the Huvud schematics in KiCAD (free software) and open the PCB file, you can click "Export" and then "STEP"

Any word on if this can be used with the Mellow boards yet?
Yes! There are different settings required though
Works perfectly - yeah
@@eddietheengineer Can you share the settings with us?
I am trying to flash the EBB36 from BTT but without success.

You're in luck! I just created one: ruclips.net/video/_FELCN8CbWA/видео.html
Saved a huvud board that had a bad usb connector. Thanks
Anyone else get all the way to determining a CAN ID and it doesn't return a value. Everything appears to be ok but no value.
I hope the BTT EBB 42 CAN works also ;-)
I have two of the smaller BTT boards on the way!
Huvud Board sold out everywhere :-(
I have some if you need
@@advanced3dprinting THX, i ordered some from BTT ;-)
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
