Basically a perfect song. Some 5 years later I'm still in awe of it. Assembling Kid Cudi's hums, Stevie Wonder's harmonica, and the singing talents of Philip Bailey and James Blake on a song with production, melodies and hooks this strong is a match made in heaven. I like how the flock of sheep are used as a metaphor. Sheep are seen as the followers of Christ in the Bible, while goats are depicted as Satan or his followers. Travis is also sort of playing the roll as a shepherd, where of course in the Bible Angel Gabriel came down to tell the shepherds that Jesus was born. All on a track called stop trying to be god. My interpretation: All the sheep are ordinary people, they follow aimlessly (following stereotypes of sheep being followers), then the Dragon is someone empowered, "trying to be God". It burns the area. Everyone runs but Travis stays showing that perhaps he was envious and also "wanted to be God" and be powerful/have influence.
He is burned which can symbolise him becoming a new person. He now has influence, has the people in suits following him, then baptised people like Jesus would do again re-alliterating that he's attempting to be God with his new found influence.
Then he's on the Dragon roaming, and he only burns the area (could be a symbolism of his hubris) then the cycle continues where at first someone else was exerting that powerful influence that intrigued Travis.
Then God punishes him when he shoots him with a laser. Perhaps Travis is trying to show he was punished for losing his faith.
Then at the end the little lamb held by Kylie Jenner could be Stormi?? (I don't know about that one, it seems as if they replicating birth of Christ but in a twisted way but I'm not sure)
But ultimately i think the message is that celebrities have a powerful influence, and how they get this power isn't in "gods will" or comes with a sacrifice that can't be undone. And that no matter how tempted you are like h93 Travis and others that "sold their soul" became, you must've "try to be God".

I strongly disagree with many of the comments. My understanding is that he has unwillingly earned a God Complex. He is saying to himself and others who have this complex to not be almighty.
The first scene portrays him as a Sheppard leading the herd as a comparison to himself and his listeners. He may have been compared to as a God by others or his followers . A simple observation with nothing to over complicate.
Scene two shows the night time with the baphomet flying past the view of God in the clouds. The baphomet being foreshadowed by the drawings on the walls of the building. People are dancing to music in a damaged/run down location that could imply their carelessness of their surroundings and selves.
Scene three shows the baphomet coming to burn the people but only Travis (assumed to lead the herd/have a god complex) is the one to be burned. The aftermath shows only Travis to be burned and dead from the flames of the beast while Kylie (shown to be a form of a goddess, possibly by her followers or by others the same as Travis) consoles the burned and dead Travis.
Scene four shows Travis portrayed as God Almighty in the sky with provocative women (it is his portrayal of God which I can see how this may offend some) saying to "Stop trying to be God".
As it carries over to scene five, he has similarities to Moses (based on the clothing of Travis).As he raises his hands, so do his followers, just as one with power could command. The clouds stay open for God to watch but notice that Travis remains below God himself, with God still in the sky.
We move onto scene six with Travis baptizing his followers and them imitating his way of life afterwards with God still watching it unfold from above.
Scene seven takes us to Travis riding the Baphomet and causing destruction to the Earth. God displeased, he kills Travis to emphasize that there may not be anyone higher than God himself and those that try will face full wrath. As Travis is burning, he has descended into Hell, burning for being a traitor to God.
We move over to scene eight as we see people crowded to a shrine for God on a snowy and dark night. Then we are transitioned over to Kylie (again presumed a Goddess) caressing a lamb (Lamb of God possibly) as the last words uttered are "Stop trying to be God, That's not who you are" reinstating to be nothing more or less than human.
My opinion is that this is Travis Scott's interpretation of what a God Complex can do to a human being and the consequences for being more than just human that can occur. Not only can this be directed towards himself but to others that find themselves or may find themselves to be in this certain position and state of life. A very well put together and executed idea just as an artist would do in my opinion.

Like the title says “stop trying to be god” he’s saying to others in his position or higher ,don’t act high and mighty . I almost feel sorry for these narrow minded people . If it’s not what they want to hear or understand they do not care .
