- Pepe Romero Baby Baritone Ukulele strings are 'designed to convert your 17" tenor ukulele into a "Baby Baritone" tuning it DGBE.' But will these strings also work on a concert ukulele? Wouldn't it be cool and nice to get a baritone ukulele sound out of a concert ukulele? My friend Chris at Uke Stuff decided to put the strings on a Tom concert ukulele and see if decent DGBE tuning, play and sound, could be produced. This is a long video so feel free to skip ahead if you are short on time.

Will baritone strings fit in a slotted bridge?? See rockjam for details 😂
If I said you could, I guess you can.
The Baby Baritone has a more percussive strumming sound
😊
Great video 👍Gary
Glad to see you, Gary. Very best wishes. 😊😊
I thought the Tom with the stock strings had a very generic value uke sound. The baby baritone sounds really made a difference. While it did not have the same sound as a true baritone it was a nice improvement. If as Chris said you were more comfortable with the concert size and had more than one concert ukulele it would be fun to have one of them stringed with the baby baritone strings. A worthwhile experiment. Too bad Chris lives in Minnesota. You guys could make us a nice ukulele jam video with different string combinations! 😄😁
Tom ukes have a great headstock. I love that T! Having played a lot of tenor DGBE you make mental adjustments. You no longer say, "Is this as good as my baritone sounds." You say this sounds great and leave it at that. The compact size of the uke, for me anyway, makes it easier and fun to play than baritone. Yeah, it would be great if Chris moved to Lookout Mountain. It would be great to have a true blue ukulele friend close by!
@@richdavis4007 we Northerners could not handle those balmy too little snow winters and especially overheated muggy Alabama summers!I have been to Birmingham in July!
There are more Northerners living in the South now than Southerners, H ho ho! Being on top of a small mountain does help with the summertime heat. We get very little snow but tons and tons of fog.
