I was confused by your phraseology being opposite of the movements with regard to octaves. You would say drop it down one octave, but you were actually going up an octave. Otherwise and interesting and useful discussion. Thank you.
When do you use three notes per string system and why?
Depends what effect your trying to create. 3nps is suited to economy picking and faster idea. Use both! Don’t limit yourself
This is caged system not modes.. seems misguided
This is video 1 of 3, I split the big video up. At the end of this one is the Lydian mode. At the end of that is Mixolydian.

Applying octave pairs based on where the root is. You can build the mode around it.
