I think the Cocoon virus might be referring to a bug that can happen in the creature stage if you expand out too fast and kill too many species all at once the game will try and spawn more species if you're early enough in the creature stage but if you kill too many they're all these cocoons that just kind of ooze liquid and they'll end up being like the only thing you run into for a while. I've had this happen to me a few times and you just end up wondering around the planet for like 10 minutes until something eventually spawns.

Fun fact: The Grob is the name of their species. Their empire is called The Grox. Grob backwards means Borg. This is where all the startrek theories come from.
Even in the game files they are called grob probably because it was a temporary placeholder name before it settled on grox. At least thats my take. There is a 14 year old video titled "Grox evolution" here on youtube named Spotecheater

Small correction @ 19:04 - Actually, using these on Grox planets still gives positive reputation, as long as you don't use it *directly on* a Grox city. Otherwise you get a reputation penalty for "using unfriendly tools." Meaning you can, for instance, Fanatical Frenzy a Grox planet and they'll love it.

In Spore there is a cheat called "blocksmode", which does the same thing as u shown in the video. Im not too sure what the purpose of this was but as a 3D modeller I could take a guess this was to either simplify the geometry, or show collision boxes of the creatures.

Hi. I'm one of those participants in the Fiction Universe you mentioned.
To explain to anybody who is curious: The fiction universe starts all the way back in 2006 (when the wiki was founded), and I believe a certain well known figure who made quite the well known drawing of their fictional creature started the whole thing.
Along with obviously writing about the game and its features/mechanics on the wiki, users (which are still on the wiki to this day and are still active!) began writing fiction pages, which eventually were (from my understanding) coordinated under the Fiction Universe project. At its height hundreds of people were writing about their fictional empires, creatures and even making their own galaxies until it ended up getting _way_ too out of hand. So we basically used what are the "evil Gods" of the Fiction Universe to basically wipe out 90% of the actual fiction "in universe". As far as I remember most of these fictions/galaxies weren't actually deleted, they were just ceremonially considered to "not exist" anymore. I've never actually tried to look for galaxies that no longer exist anymore.
Another correction to make is that this Fiction Universe has grown so large that it's honestly not even based in Spore anymore: It's only loosely based on Spore (such as, at least for the main continuity) including inventions such as the Staff of Life and the Grox. We basically at this point only use Spore for creature creation and or spaceship/vehicle creation to show off in our infoboxes, and even then some of us forgo Spore entirely to use other programs/games.
Spore is a pretty small game all things considered and it's such an old game that all the things that can be discovered and that are worth actually writing about have been written about, meaning that the only thing SporeWiki really has going for it anymore _is_ its Fiction Universe. You can imagine that over a span of 18 years that most of the people who once wrote on the wiki have moved on long ago- so it's quite slow and I would honestly say on the verge of dying at this point. There are still, however, a handful of people who have been continuously contributing to the wiki for nearly *20* years now, which is honestly baffling to me. It's also funny to me how the creators of among the most famous TF2 memes, "MEEM"... is an active creator in this very fiction universe.

For the "empires can settle suns thing", here's my thoughts:
According to the Spore Wiki, if you use Planet Buster to destroy all planets in a system, the sun will remain. Your ship will hover above it but be unable to enter the sun. I have not tried this myself.
I wonder if it's possible to combine this glitch with the "settling gas giants" glitch? Where an empire captures a star system, but there's no planets so they "settle" the star.

I tried posting this comment earlier but I wasn't sure it went through and I don't see it anymore, I tried editing it but RUclips had a weird error, so hopefully this isn't a duplicate :)
Some more info on Pause Boosting, there are 3 distinct methods:
First, this one only requires Wings and is the weakest. Start by pausing, selecting another creature in front of us, jump twice, then unpause and we'll launch. I believe this is the one the comments shown were describing.
Second, requires Wings and Sprint. Select another creature in front, activate Sprint, jump, tap backwards (S on keyboard), and continue to alternate between jump and backwards and we will gain a lot of speed. Then hold forward to direct our creature and this will give an incredibly fast launch. Pressing Escape or using the mouse to steer our creature in order to deselect the creature in front can help as we pass over them. Sometimes we can get a mid air stop when we reach the creature in front, same can help the first one as well. I credit @Slimeade for finding this particular launch, here's their example ruclips.net/video/3q1H_o5KPV4/видео.htmlsi=xGwv1XJaUSU28TLx
Third, exclusive to Galactic Adventures, this one only requires we have feet with at least level 4 jump. This one only needs us to pause, hold forward, while holding forward press jump, then release forward and unpause. This will give a very strong launch as well, and I believe this is actually the kind of launch being shown in the Galactic Adventures example. This launch for example can be used to beat the Bahaha 500 Adventure in less than 30 seconds fairly easily!
There's some other movement tech in Galactic Adventures like being able to fly up infinitely that's pretty easy! Doesn't require wings or sprint. Only need to hold forward, jump, get some good height, keep holding forward, hold Right mouse button, then together hold Left mouse button, the release Right mouse button, and our Captain will start ascending! There are other methods to make that work but that one is the easiest!

The harvester was a scrapped vehicle for the 'city' phase between tribal and civilization. It'd be used for farming of some kind. perhaps if it did make it to the final game, it'd possibly be the only way to harvest spice. It actually has a remnant in the final game; like the advanced cell editor, there's also a secret advanced vehicle editor, which gives access to all vehicle parts (besides the UFO parts) and allows the creation of any type of land/sea/air and military/religious/economic type. Included in the type drop down is the harvester; sadly creations saved as harvesters don't appear in the sporepedia, and crash the game when you attempt to load the png file the game creates for them (presumably because it requires a non-existant harvester editor)
The secret vehicle editor can be launched the same way as the secret cell editor, but with 'state:VehicleEditor' instead of 'state:CellEditor'
Apparently, that isn't the only leftover either! I've yet to test it, but 'state:BuildingEditor' looks like it loads a similar super building editor, and has another invalid creation type; farms!

When I played spore, I recall getting a bug over and over where the creature stage would start on land (or far into the water) and then my creature would walk to the nest, which was in water. Water and land physics were swaped. When I went on land, the sea monster would pop out. I would always get really sad when this happed because there was nothing i could do. The worst glitch im dealing with makes it impossible to make galactic adventures as the game always crashes, with mods or without. I tried everything.

My favorite glitch for playing as a hunter with herbivore/omnivore mouth is to flap wings in the air and click on a fruit hanging from a tree.
The creature will head towards a location in the air, since it cannot find pathing towards the tree, and eat the fruit from WAY far from the actual tree itself.
This is great because fruits heal and satiate a substantial amount better than carnivores eating meat on an empty den.

Heres two additional entries that haven't been said in either iceberg videos (as far as i know)
White spice: white spice is a bug in the game, instead of the normal spice options when you go to a planet, you could find white spice, it can't be sold or gotten without cheats or mods and if you place ot down on the planet either it'll crash the game or it'll be deleted by the game, its also rumored to be on gas giants and is there as a filler option instead of the other color spices
Mercury, venus and earth spice change: these 3 planets are unique and can change what spice they produce for each different save you use, Mercury and venus can either be yellow or in rare chances purple, but earth can be any spice option, but its commonly yellow (it even has a chance to be white spice but it was on a older version of the game as a bug)

I remember playing Spore Creatures Mobile!
there were a handful of "worlds" that you explored, socializing or killing a nest of another creature followed by a big boss that you had to kill. One of those bosses was basically a yeti that throws rocks at the player character creature.
then the final part of the game had your creature gathered around a campfire with other versions of your creature, the only difference between them all being your creature's torso being different lengths. Implying that you're about to enter tribal stage.
you could go back to previous worlds and unlock new colors and parts by searching the world, but once you killed a nest of creatures that was it. they would be extinct forever even when you go back.

I added onto the Grox theory much more and made it more compelling with real science. Here it is:
If you don’t know, there’s an Easter egg in Spore where you can actually find the real life solar system inside Spore. With every planet exactly how it is in real life. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Earth. But one thing is missing… if you go onto Earth, there aren’t any humans. Not only that but the planet is specifically Tier Score 1. To me that’s kind of specific, like the devs wanted us to think about that. I mean it has everything accurate to earth, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, you name it. All of it except for the atmosphere being nearly uninhabitable and the absolute lack of humans. That can’t be a coincidence. I think the humans in the Spore universe could’ve polluted their planet and driven life on it to near extinction. After nearly killing Earth they built spaceships and genetically engineered their descendants to be smaller, that way to have lower calorie and oxygen intake to save food and oxygen for longer voyages. They made it in their nature to want to colonize as many planets as possible. They gave them higher traces of melanin and as a side effect, red skin, to be protected from the ultra violet rays of other worlds and make them be able to colonize planets faster. Do you see where I’m going with this? As wild as this may sound, I believe that the Grox are the descendants of humanity. But you may be questioning how they got towards the center of the Galaxy when the Sol system is in the middle of the cosmic arms on the galaxy. I think they might’ve passed through one of the wormholes you can encounter in the space stage, as we know these said wormholes can transfer you from one side of the Galaxy to the next. There are even some near the middle. It’s possible they fell through one of these and ended up in the middle of the galaxy where they made it their homes and with their technology, resources, and biology, were able to take over most of the systems in the center of the galaxy while losing sight of their original culture and knowledge of their origins over the eons. Just one thing is that the Grox are so overly aggressive to any and all spaceships and civilizations crossing into their territory. This may be because of their colonization-crazy nature brought on when they were made by the humans. So that’s the theory. It’s maybe not the most sound but I think it’s very interesting to think about.

19:45 The reason the rocks cannot be deleted is due to them being part of the base planet terrain script, rather than being part of the adventure itself.

Jokes aside, thanks for the inclusion. Also, I gotta say, I thought I knew everything there was to know about this game after so many years of owning it, but apparently Spore is the gift that keeps on giving.
By the way, I think I saw the human-faced dog creation in a haunted-house-themed galactic adventure once. Didn't know it was particularly notable.
Also, when I mentioned the "Hidden vehicle weapon", I was referring to a singular vehicle editor weapon part (like the guns on spore's military vehicles) that goes unused in the final game. From what I remember, it can be accessed in a similar way to the hidden cell parts that only appear on the Maxis cells, through a hidden version of the vehicle editor. That said, though, it's extremely hard for me to find any information on as well, and I'm starting to think I could have completely misremembered all of that. I'll edit this comment when I find anything else about it.

I think I might know what the Cocoon virus is. As a kid I vividly remember multiple instances when I encountered it. Might be misremembering the details tho, it's been more than a decade after all. But I remember being met with a nest that never left the cocoon stage, which would then make all the next both start spawning only as cocoon nests and never evolving. The only thing that helped was migrating to a new nest which, I assume, resets all spawns automatically to more advanced species.

Fan theory about pirates: Every time you conquer a planet and destroy an empire while doing it, the ships escape your planet, and are classified as pirates when hovering your mouse over it. What if all the pirates are just rouge remnants of former space fairing empires? Unrecognized by other empires as they have no more empire to affiliate with, they just form in separate groups of former guards of their respective former empires. They just wander space and pirate planets to attempt to survive without the ability to trade to major empires, just selling their pirated spice to black markets in return for power packs and health packs. Victims of imperialism, war, religion, it doesn’t matter, these proud guards of their planets are left alone with only former heroes alike.

There was also a bug where u could try to befriend the epics during the animal stage but it would just eat u as u danced and sang for it. Although I remember their relation status would change from agro to neutral while they would still attack u sometimes. I did it once and it would randomly attack me and leave me alone, unfortunately, when I wanted to find it on another day I couldn't. I also remember finding a hyper epic in the animal stage which was one of my own previous creatures from another run, it crashed my game because of how huge the model looked in that stage. I miss this game so much. So many good memories.

You CAN use overcomplicated creations with the 'freedom' cheat in game! The only limit is that they can't be pollinated by game to npc creatures/tribes/space races/etc. The limit largely exists for performance reasons, so it tries to avoid spamming overcomplicated creations unless the player pushes them for their own species/empire manually.

A minor correction: I remember that the Freedom cheat (which removes creature complexity restraints) did actually allow you to use your creatures. What the game did not allow however was that your creatures created with this cheat would not be “pollinated” (they will not generate on worlds in your galaxy)

"GROB" - its one of the grox's name! it is a reference to something but idk
"HARVESTER VEHICLES" - its a cut content from the cut city stage! in city stage were two exclusive objects: the farm and this harvester vehicles thing!
"SUN EMPIRES" - i guess its something similar to the gas giant colony bug, but with sun
"HIDDEN VEHICLE WEAPON" - its a cut content again i think? but its like can be accessible through console or smth like that
"COCOON VIRUS" - i have no idea what this one is about. sounds like creepypasta thing

I decided to make a few creatures in the creator for giggles, as well as practice, and every single other tribe was a single one of my creatures, and most of my other creations were there too. Even saw an epic version of one (a spider with a rockne as a beanie) fighting a tribe. Fun stuff, really weird. Guess i gotta make more creatures then to diversify my tribal stage

I have a bizarre story about the first time I played Spore on my laptop (Also sorry if there are some grammar errors english is not my first language)
I remember installing the last version of Spore and when I passed the cell stage and I finally could play the creature stage as a herbivore I was confused bc the planet had no trees and no bushes and almost no creatures and I was softlocked.
I played in other planets and it was the same thing
I dont know if it was a bug or its because I installed a pirated version I just don't remember clearly

27:10 I don't think those are Roblox models in Spore, I recall there was an entirely useless (as far as I could tell) cheat that made Spore creatures into blocks. Typing "blocksmode" in the cheat window enables/disables it. More than sure the uploader enabled blocksmode and wanted to be a little cheeky.
Great video, love me some Spore content.

Since I couldn’t find 1 concise comment for all 5 things mentioned at the end of the video, here’s one I compiled.
“Grob”: Information gathered from users Swagicide420, Lydierayn, and Sevenizer1. The Grob is apparently the name of the Grox in the files, and it’s just Borg backwords. One theory suggests that “Grob” is the species name, with Grox being a demonym/empire.
“Havester Vehicles” and “Hidden Vehicle Weapon”: According to the users Cube6794 and Pacca64, there is a hidden vehicle editor similar to the cell one. In this, “Harvester” can be selected as a type of vehicle, and according to Cube6794 the hidden vehicle weapon might also be there (though he isn’t too sure on that). Pacca64 also mentioned a hidden building editor, with a “farm” building, which is what the harvester would’ve been used for, but no other mentions of that exist in this comment section to my knowledge and even Pacca64 said he hadn’t tested it yet. User PailofShale1217 mentioned how Harvesters supposedly would’ve gathered spice but were cut because they were tedious, and user Sevenizer1 mentions how beta audio files exist for the harvester. User RD3TC confirms their existence in the actual game in a reply to Sevenizer1.
“Sun Empires”: User Thick303 mentions how, if every planet (including gas giants) in a system was to be removed, and then that system was conquered by an empire, theoretically that empire should “settle” the sun. This is purely theoretical, however, according to the commenter.
“Cocoon Virus”: User _dire__ states that the Cocoon Virus is when a nest never leaves cocoon stage. User CuteFuzzyWeasel claims that if you expand too fast in creature stage, there will be nothing but cocoons left for around 10 minutes of gameplay. User _dire__, if i remember the comment correctly, also claimed that the cocoon virus could be undone by migrating to a new nest.
