I was having a hard time figuring out how to describe paintings for my class (never taken an art class before) and your video helped me feel confident in describing what I saw on the canvas. Thank you so much!
That makes me incredibly happy :) You're welcome!
I am glad I found your video, I love art but I want to learn how to describe paintings of famous painters like Picasso and Van Gogh, thank you.
I believe you’re doing a smashing job. It was quite by chance that I came across your channel. I was looking for a negative adverbial inversion explanation. I was frankly surprised at how many good tutorials you have on your channel. I love how you’re so down-to-earth and straightforward, explaining things in a way that’s easy to understand. Even some native English speakers need a refresher course when they’re a bit rusty. I’ve come to realise that language is not a static thing, it’s a living, thriving entity that grows and moves forward with a mind of its own. It’s astonishing how many people in the world rely on English for their daily lives, whether it be for business or study, and it’s so diverse and multicultural, that it becomes overwhelming with all the different spellings and expressions. It is great to find a teacher like you, someone who can bring us safely home.
I only wanted to thank you for all the useful content and wish you all the best with your channel.
Excellent video! Thank you!
Thank you for the video, it's amazing! Could you recommend some resources where else I can read such descriptions? I would appreciate it 😊
This is video is really helpful. Great job!
A nice film! Thanks!
Firstly thank you for the video this will really help for my exam and secondly I want to describe Claude Monets painting. The painting is landscape of a river with a bridge above it. There seem to be flowers on top of the river. The colours all complement each other to create a sense of unison with all the colours being bright yet they have a cold tone. Monet did a good job at painting this, although I won’t say that it’s amazing or unique
this videohelped me alot i tried my best to write whatever came in my mind................ "this painting is of vincent van gogh. he was a brilliant artist in the 19th century. in this painting, we can see a man standing in the field of flowers, the flowers are of velvet red color and are highlighted as if they're the centre of attention for the
viewers. the forground is field and the man standing in it and the background is shown
as the gate of the crops, trees, homes and sky. it is a calm weather and because of it
, the evening is peaceful. the guy in the middle of field is standing and i find him confusing
, tho the back side of man could be onky seen in the painting but his head to another direction
and his hands are indi cating as if he is finding something, it could be as if he has lost something
or as if he is looking for a specific flower. other than that as we can see that the man is standing
alone, it could be that he is wanting to spend some time alone inn the calm evening. i like this painting
specially the clouds and flowers because of there contrasts. it wouldnt be wrong to say that it is one
of the masterpieces of Vincent Van Gogh"
Wow, you did a great job!
You described:
- what you see
- what you THINK might be happening (hands are indicating, it could be as if...) - this is very important.
You were able to provide us with information about the artist and you gave us your opinion.
Thanks for your description!

Brilliant blond young woman , art expert ! Excellent video! Thank you!
well, I wouldn't call myself an art expert - I'm just an English teacher ;) - but I'm glad you found this video helpful!
@@howtoEnglish1: Be or not an art expert, I think your video is very didactic , really helpful as it is concise, essential and clearly easy to manage so that I , an Italian teacher of English at 1st grade secondary school , could use your tips in a very productive way in order to organize a good lesson. Unfortunately thirteen-year old school boys and girls in my class are not " receptive ", football addict the males and pretty divas the girls ..... I should write a book ...[...]. Besides, your video is wisely framed into chapters that let us enter gradually and without any hardships the art-world ... I'm not an art expert, too. All that means that you have internalized communication skills on the whole and it isn't a pure technical ability .... this requires some sensitivity ..... 👋😘
@@silviaonofri5116 thank you, your comment means a lot to me :) And if you ever write a book about your students, let me know ;)

I wish the expression -“ beauty is in the eye of the beholder” - we’re stricken from our lexicon. This is the most innocuous statement ever and NOT TRUE. IF you have no art in your life; or never studied art, you have no idea of beauty. STOP USING THIS STATEMENT! It is false and misleading. One knows nothing of what is beautiful. Unless you have studied WHY something is considered beautiful, you are ignorant and blind to beauty. And beauty is not subjective.
Thank you for making such a informative video for us. Madam do you use whatsapp . I need your help.
