I am the grandson of the Warden who pulled the switch on old sparky and the brother of the person who ran the Texas prison rodeo for the last fifteen years it was in existence and I worked for TDCJ myself for 22 years the prison museum does it's best to relay to the public what prison life is like it's a good tool to show both sides of the Wall 🧱 it has its good and bad just like everything else in this world 🌎 but unless you get the chance to work in corrections most lay person's can never imagine what they would see working in one of those facilities and that's why the public needs to see the unfiltered explanations to understand what employees and offenders have to go thru it's one of the best resources available to the public to see the art the weapons and the stories that make up alot of Texas history in one building thanks for sharing the video

@@RobbZipp if you ever want a first hand guided tour I'm sure maybe we could figure something out because when you go thru this museum you generally want to take your time and really look at the artifacts in the museum and ask questions that way you get the full facts about the museum and what is myth and what is not there's also several other places in town that are worth the sightseeing trip

Today is Sept. 20th, 2023. I’ve spent over 25 calendar years in TDC beginning two weeks after I turned 17 at the Goree Unit for Women. I’ve many stories to share if someone is interested. I’m now 66, retired and widowed. I’ve been to the underground bowels of Goree. I’ve given birth to three children while in custody.

That Henry Lee Lucas featured in this museum was one bad dude. There are many documentaries and a movie about him floating around online. Here's just one of many: ruclips.net/video/oRp-kg6-Ong/видео.html. For some reason serial killers fascinate and horrify me. Lucas and partner in crime Otis Toole went on a horrendous killing spree.

Well sure. But it defeats the purpose of a prison. People sent to prison aren't supposed to enjoy it. They literally gave them an arena to perform in. I imagine the prisoners loved it. I was born in 87 but all of my uncles went to prison in Texas during the 80's. I'm sure hearing stories about being a rodeo cowboy in prison was no detourant.
