The gospel of Thomas is said to have been written in 150 AD, by the apostle Thomas. Now keep in mind that Thomas walked with Jesus in the years 30-33 AD. How could Thomas have written this gospel? He would have to be over 140 years old when writing this gospel assuming he was about 20 years old, if not older, when he walked with Christ.

Sadly enough the reason for that is the watered down translation of the New Covenant from Aramaic Hebrew to Greek then German then Latin and finally English. Not to mentioned the enemies influence on man to purposely change scripture to deceive followers. For centuries man has altered scripture to the point where we have thousands of denominations and versions of the bible in Christianity. I don't think that's what the Messiah had in mind. Thankfully our creator gave us a spirit along side our soul to have discernment between right and wrong & Good and Evil. (Most people call this their conscience) However for this to work you have to have an invested relationship with God first. You have to heaved already committed your life to his work & not of your own. Books like this along with the book of Enoch, gave Gods followers too much insight on scripture and would lead to an outlook on the world and life that would cause followers and believers to question the governments control on religion. Few people are ready to believe what scripture says about what we physically live on. Scripture speaks not of a globe which is an obvious touchy subject. Which science has told us otherwise along with us rotating as a sphere. Scripture speaks of earth as it being stationary. So if these topics are argued about even in churches, how can people who still might be seen as blind, be woke and awaken to see the other truths that have been purposely kept from us. The attempt is to make us feel non important. That we are not created by a higher being. That we're just a speck of dust in a giant galaxy among millions of other. That this world and life you live is accidental and by chance so we don't search or look/seek God and a alter belief that is being told to us. They same scientist who tell us the world is round and a sphere are the same ones who deny that God created the earth. The same who tell us we were created from a big bang (which gives us an accidental by chance of living, no purpose. No place for your spirit after death) millions of years ago. I'm rambling sorry. The point I was trying to make is Man has removed books from scripture throughout the years that had irrefutable info on our creator. Not sure if any one knows this however there was also a book of Adam and of Eve which were in the original language. It's easier to control the masses when you indoctrinate them to a religion. Religion is not of God.
the gnostics were a heretic sect of the 2nd (and later) centuries. they didn't know Jesus any better than the 1st century Christians who wrote the New Testament. in fact, they knew him LESS. but who knows, maybe this will encourage you to read the real bible, which contains all of the "true" stuff from this "gospel" already, plus much more that actually puts it into its historical context.

Jesus as Guru makes sense to me, for the guru is the grace-bestowing power of God, and therefore the way, to the Truth and the Life. God the Father is our true nature, while our ego, through devotion, is made to serve that Divinity which we all are in essence.
Thomas shows us the true nature of the divine and ourselves. We are all children of the light, we come from the light, we are going to the light. The law of Moses was meant to be a spiritual law, not an outward obedience to rituals. The law is eternal. The reason there is pain and suffering is because we have lost out connection to the divine. Jesus came to show us the way back to the garden
By the way the law of Moses was just that, "the law of Moses"; it wasn't the law/divine instructions of the heavenly father. As Jesus said to the Jewish Pharisees you do not know my father, "your father is the devil".

Whether or not all of the words from Thomas are contained within other gospels isn't the point is it? The clear message from Thomas is that we are responsible for our own awakening, our own entry in the 'Kingdom'. No one else, no church, no authority, no ritual is going to do it for us. In practise they may well hinder the process since they will not teach how to turn inwards but rather to rely on them - which is not what Thomas is telling us. We are responsible and it is our task to find how to turn inwards to find Christ.
Empty. The gospel of thomas is esoteric. In each tradition there is an exoteric part (like catholic rituals) and an esoteric part (like hesychasm or contemplative prayer). Both are important and need to be tried out. But ultimaly God gave as freedom of choice. We can go towards him or not. We can choose love (paradise) or hate (hell). Nobody but us sends us to hell.
"For there is nothing hidden which will not become menifested, and nothing covered which won't become uncovered." He describes how we manifest everything into our life by our thoughts and emotions matching eachother. Just look back at your past life experiences and you will see that this is 100% true

Being a very visual person, this is perfect for me. I have for a long time tried to follow Jesus, not the religious rules that are the constructs of men, I have been there but left and opened my heart to light that I found in so many places I was at one time told was dark. The religious elite and power brokers of organized religions try to limit the knowledge of the followers of these institutions, limit what can be known and bind up the spirits of those who are gullible and in ignorance, and accept it as truth. I w=once was lost but now I see. Christ is the light.

mostly... the GOT puts a gnostic spin on many teachings of Jesus copied from the canonical gospels. It's not a reliable account, except as a curiosity of what some early Gnostics believed. as you read more of their "gospels" you'll quickly see what they were all about, and how it had nothing to do with 2nd Temple Judaism or Apostolic Christianity. certainly it was not written by an actual apostle, or anyone who knew an apostle.
I gotta say, this stuff actually makes sense. And well said too. Its kind of a shame this was not mainstream. Or at least that mainstream is such, where this would not become popular. Jesus spoke of love/oneness not only in the gospel of Thomas but also in the 66 books of the holy bible. Jesus spoke of oneness just as was written in the Hindu texts, just as was written in many other religious teachings from all over the world, just as was talked about by many near death experiencers including children. Most people who had a spiritual experience speak of this same oneness. All the testimonies and historical texts are not just a damn coincidence, although some spiritually dead individuals would want us to believe we are some random accident in an unintelligent universe evolved from a mysterious ape.

This is one of the more than 50 true gospels ever found. For those who do not understand or are lesser in knowledge, search them all and compare with bible gospels. Thereby, even bible was composed by man, the first churchfathers, and how could they know what's true or not, tell me!? So, if Yeshua says to seek and find, than do that, cause bible maybe correct, but surely not complete. in the 1st century there were only 4 gospels that we know of ("Q" is just a list of sayings common to Matthew & Luke but not Mark). not "50." Certainly at the time the bible was being compiled into the new testament canon there were not "50" candidates called "gospels" for inclusion. "true gospels"? according to whose standard? If you have ever read any of these other "gospels" you'd be mad to think they were "true," even if you knew they were written one, two, sometimes three centuries after Jesus! (the NT gospels were written in the 1st century, within living memory of Christ & his apostles).

Sorry, Dan Brown wasn't a scholar and "The Da Vinci Code" (and the books that inspired it) was not history. those early fathers knew because they knew those who knew the apostles, and they could easily refute nonsense like the 2nd, 3rd, etc. century "gnostic" works like this. it was pretty well known even in the time of Jesus that Moses didn't write the entire Torah. what you're going to have to do is explain why you think people living after Moses were uninspired men using their imaginations and guessing (or lying) but the same can't be said for those who imitated Jesus' voice centuries after he died. make up your mind. in trying to defend heresy and doubting orthodoxy, you've ended up swatting yourself in the face. so if none of it matters, why even bother following Jesus? Just make up your own beliefs, it's about the same thing.

@@arete7884 therein lies the problem of Gnosticism. according to those guys you can't trust your senses, tradition or even reason. only direct experience right... but the trouble is WHERE does that direct experience come from? We don't know, but it has to be processed THROUGH your senses and reason. so you'll never have absolute, knowledge that they claim to be able to give. the rest of the world takes it that the senses are generally reliable and reason (not just the reason of the individual, but our collective wisdom) can cut through the disorders of individual senses or the errors in logic that can crop up). there's no other real way to know things. sure, you can say "hey everybody, I got a direct revelation from God!" but how do you differentiate those "true" experiences from those are simply lying (con artist hoaxers) and insane (those with mental disorders)? you still have to fall back into sense processing and reason. So the Gnostic position falls flat and we still are left with the superior position of traditional Christianity, that yes, even an atheist can reason his way to. get it? if we can't trust reason or senses then all bets are off. if you think we're brains in vats or in the matrix simulation being manipulated by an evil genius, then that demon could be giving us the illusion we have a "divine inspiration" too. so it would be impossible to have knowledge, period.
most of the "gospels" that we are talking about here were written hundreds of years after the four "canonical" gospels of the New Testament. when we hear "gospel" we think of a narrative of Jesus' life, but many of them are just fragments of sermons, poems, or like this, a list of sayings copied (and modified) from other gospels. in the 4th century, when Christians were determining which books belonged in the bible (no single council decided this, it was an organic process), none of these other "gospels" were ever in serious contention for inclusion. in fact, many of them were either lost before that, or hadn't been written yet. the conspiracy theory that "the Church" or "the powers that be" "hid the truth" from "the common people" is simply not supported by factual evidence. it's wishful thinking, promoted by believers in these later religions, hoping that they can insert themselves into the gaps of history as if they were there all along, when in fact they were late to the party. History "isn't fair"? boo hoo, but if you want to say you've got a better idea than the other guy, you can't lie and distort history to make it stick. agreed? No other "gospels" can claim to have been written by contemporaries of Jesus, in the time and place where he died, like the four canonical ones. People attack Paul all the time (which is odd, the Gnostics LOVED Paul, though they loved to MISquote him to support their beliefs) as if he somehow ruined what Jesus taught, but if you study his teachings and the context, he gets it right far more often than any of these later groups who came along, these "heresies" and "sects." modern people just want some "alternative" to traditional Christianity, and they unfortunately are being sold a bill of goods by these conspiracy theorists.

Five years since this Channels last upload. I wish they would have done more like this. Im so in love with St Thomas. Also the RCC gave him the wrong character, stigmata. Angers me to this day. The gospel of Thomas is said to have been written in 150 AD, by the apostle Thomas. Now keep in mind that Thomas walked with Jesus in the years 30-33 AD.
How could Thomas have written this gospel? He would have to be over 140 years old when writing this gospel assuming he was about 20 years old, if not older, when he walked with Christ.

This is profound. This Jesus sounds different from the biblical one. This one reaches into the heart.
Sadly enough the reason for that is the watered down translation of the New Covenant from Aramaic Hebrew to Greek then German then Latin and finally English. Not to mentioned the enemies influence on man to purposely change scripture to deceive followers. For centuries man has altered scripture to the point where we have thousands of denominations and versions of the bible in Christianity. I don't think that's what the Messiah had in mind. Thankfully our creator gave us a spirit along side our soul to have discernment between right and wrong & Good and Evil. (Most people call this their conscience) However for this to work you have to have an invested relationship with God first. You have to heaved already committed your life to his work & not of your own. Books like this along with the book of Enoch, gave Gods followers too much insight on scripture and would lead to an outlook on the world and life that would cause followers and believers to question the governments control on religion. Few people are ready to believe what scripture says about what we physically live on. Scripture speaks not of a globe which is an obvious touchy subject. Which science has told us otherwise along with us rotating as a sphere. Scripture speaks of earth as it being stationary. So if these topics are argued about even in churches, how can people who still might be seen as blind, be woke and awaken to see the other truths that have been purposely kept from us. The attempt is to make us feel non important. That we are not created by a higher being. That we're just a speck of dust in a giant galaxy among millions of other. That this world and life you live is accidental and by chance so we don't search or look/seek God and a alter belief that is being told to us. They same scientist who tell us the world is round and a sphere are the same ones who deny that God created the earth. The same who tell us we were created from a big bang (which gives us an accidental by chance of living, no purpose. No place for your spirit after death) millions of years ago. I'm rambling sorry. The point I was trying to make is Man has removed books from scripture throughout the years that had irrefutable info on our creator. Not sure if any one knows this however there was also a book of Adam and of Eve which were in the original language. It's easier to control the masses when you indoctrinate them to a religion. Religion is not of God.
the gnostics were a heretic sect of the 2nd (and later) centuries. they didn't know Jesus any better than the 1st century Christians who wrote the New Testament. in fact, they knew him LESS. but who knows, maybe this will encourage you to read the real bible, which contains all of the "true" stuff from this "gospel" already, plus much more that actually puts it into its historical context.

The law of Moses was meant to be a spiritual law, not an outward obedience to rituals. The law is eternal. The reason there is pain and suffering is because we have lost out connection to the divine. Whether or not all of the words from Thomas are contained within other gospels isn't the point is it? The clear message from Thomas is that we are responsible for our own awakening, our own entry in the 'Kingdom'. No one else, no church, no authority, no ritual is going to do it for us. In practise they may well hinder the process since they will not teach how to turn inwards but rather to rely on them - which is not what Thomas is telling us. We are responsible and it is our task to find how to turn inwards to find Christ.

The gospel of thomas is esoteric. In each tradition there is an exoteric part (like catholic rituals) and an esoteric part (like hesychasm or contemplative prayer). Both are important and need to be tried out. But ultimaly God gave as freedom of choice. We can go towards him or not. We can choose love (paradise) or hate (hell). Nobody but us sends us to hell.

Being a very visual person, this is perfect for me. I have for a long time tried to follow Jesus, not the religious rules that are the constructs of men, I have been there but left and opened my heart to light that I found in so many places I was at one time told was dark. The religious elite and power brokers of organized religions try to limit the knowledge of the followers of these institutions, limit what can be known and bind up the spirits of those who are gullible and in ignorance, and accept it as truth. mostly... the GOT puts a gnostic spin on many teachings of Jesus copied from the canonical gospels. It's not a reliable account, except as a curiosity of what some early Gnostics believed. as you read more of their "gospels" you'll quickly see what they were all about, and how it had nothing to do with 2nd Temple Judaism or Apostolic Christianity. certainly it was not written by an actual apostle, or anyone who knew an apostle.

Jesus spoke of love/oneness not only in the gospel of Thomas but also in the 66 books of the holy bible. Jesus spoke of oneness just as was written in the Hindu texts, just as was written in many other religious teachings from all over the world, just as was talked about by many near death experiencers including children. Most people who had a spiritual experience speak of this same oneness. All the testimonies and historical texts are not just a damn coincidence, although some spiritually dead individuals would want us to believe we are some random accident in an unintelligent universe evolved from a mysterious ape.

This is one of the more than 50 true gospels ever found. For those who do not understand or are lesser in knowledge, search them all and compare with bible gospels. in the 1st century there were only 4 gospels that we know of ("Q" is just a list of sayings common to Matthew & Luke but not Mark). not "50." Certainly at the time the bible was being compiled into the new testament canon there were not "50" candidates called "gospels" for inclusion. "true gospels"? according to whose standard? If you have ever read any of these other "gospels" you'd be mad to think they were "true," even if you knew they were written one, two, sometimes three centuries after Jesus! (the NT gospels were written in the 1st century, within living memory of Christ & his apostles).

Sorry, Dan Brown wasn't a scholar and "The Da Vinci Code" (and the books that inspired it) was not history. those early fathers knew because they knew those who knew the apostles, and they could easily refute nonsense like the 2nd, 3rd, etc. century "gnostic" works like this. it was pretty well known even in the time of Jesus that Moses didn't write the entire Torah. what you're going to have to do is explain why you think people living after Moses were uninspired men using their imaginations and guessing (or lying) but the same can't be said for those who imitated Jesus' voice centuries after he died. make up your mind. in trying to defend heresy and doubting orthodoxy, you've ended up swatting yourself in the face. so if none of it matters, why even bother following Jesus? @@arete7884 therein lies the problem of Gnosticism. according to those guys you can't trust your senses, tradition or even reason. only direct experience right... but the trouble is WHERE does that direct experience come from? We don't know, but it has to be processed THROUGH your senses and reason. so you'll never have absolute, knowledge that they claim to be able to give. the rest of the world takes it that the senses are generally reliable and reason (not just the reason of the individual, but our collective wisdom) can cut through the disorders of individual senses or the errors in logic that can crop up). there's no other real way to know things. sure, you can say "hey everybody, I got a direct revelation from God!" but how do you differentiate those "true" experiences from those are simply lying (con artist hoaxers) and insane (those with mental disorders)? you still have to fall back into sense processing and reason. So the Gnostic position falls flat and we still are left with the superior position of traditional Christianity, that yes, even an atheist can reason his way to. get it? if we can't trust reason or senses then all bets are off. if you think we're brains in vats or in the matrix simulation being manipulated by an evil genius, then that demon could be giving us the illusion we have a "divine inspiration" too. so it would be impossible to have knowledge, period.
most of the "gospels" that we are talking about here were written hundreds of years after the four "canonical" gospels of the New Testament. when we hear "gospel" we think of a narrative of Jesus' life, but many of them are just fragments of sermons, poems, or like this, a list of sayings copied (and modified) from other gospels. in the 4th century, when Christians were determining which books belonged in the bible (no single council decided this, it was an organic process), none of these other "gospels" were ever in serious contention for inclusion. in fact, many of them were either lost before that, or hadn't been written yet. the conspiracy theory that "the Church" or "the powers that be" "hid the truth" from "the common people" is simply not supported by factual evidence. it's wishful thinking, promoted by believers in these later religions, hoping that they can insert themselves into the gaps of history as if they were there all along, when in fact they were late to the party. History "isn't fair"? boo hoo, but if you want to say you've got a better idea than the other guy, you can't lie and distort history to make it stick. agreed? No other "gospels" can claim to have been written by contemporaries of Jesus, in the time and place where he died, like the four canonical ones. People attack Paul all the time (which is odd, the Gnostics LOVED Paul, though they loved to MISquote him to support their beliefs) as if he somehow ruined what Jesus taught, but if you study his teachings and the context, he gets it right far more often than any of these later groups who came along, these "heresies" and "sects." modern people just want some "alternative" to traditional Christianity, and they unfortunately are being sold a bill of goods by these conspiracy theorists.

Five years since this Channels last upload. I wish they would have done more like this. Im so in love with St Thomas. Also the RCC gave him the wrong character, stigmata. Angers me to this day. I pray they make up for it sooner then later. Like tbey did to Jesus poor most beloved St Mary of Magdala , a true Queen if any one did even exist here on Earth and or Heaven.
