I am really savoring these last episodes before you start the official Zingaro-2 series. Kimmy is just beaming with happiness having the opportunity to be in such a remote place on the Earth. The happiness is palpable on both your faces. You two are so blessed. It's obvious in hindsight that Zingaro did her very best to protect you two by keeping it together until you were in U.S. waters. I'm fairly certain that it's much better for you both to have made it to the U.S. so you could at least be in quarantine in Hawaii...
Instead of all the other possible scenario's you could have faced out there had she broken up somewhere in some of the remotest waters on the face of this Earth. It also seems more than fairly obvious that you two have a lot to be thankful for... and so do we... meaning those of us who count ourselves as your loving internet friends. Hey, since some comments (from some people who never visit blue water channels) have a negative response to the WHO action, a counter notification. South Korea immediately started the test recommended by the WHO, Germany quickly adopted this recommendation and the positive results are far superior to other countries. The US did not deliver an uncertain test until 50 days later, which they absolutely wanted to develop themselves. Country mortality rates say more about efficiency than the political background of politicians. I know that such a comment is actually inappropriate for a blue water canal, but all long-distance sailors should continue to support the actions that they find helpful.

Okay, okay, I get it. I whined about not getting to see Easter Island, so you two decide to give me to full Easter Island experience. There, but waiting and waiting and.... well you get the idea. Easter Island is soooooooo remote! I'm really impressed. I read Aku-Aku a few years back. It's a famous book written by Thor Heyerdahl. Aku-Aku meant something like having richness or fullness in your life. Great read. if you want it, I'll send it to you.

I'm thinking it is good you have not yet closed the purchase escrow on the new boat because sailing almost anywhere would require a 14+ day quarantine thereby delaying your travels but not loan payments on the boat. So, payments would be due on the new boat despite not being able to freely enter and leave various anchorages - a financial squeeze. Meanwhile, prices for multi-hull sailing yachts will decline soon due to the global economic slowdown resulting from the pandemic. Thanks for another exciting and beautiful adventure sailing video.

When you are anchoring deep you do not need as much scope, if like most cruisers you have at least 100 feet of chain, as you already know now after hauling it up by hand.

if you ever go sail and anchor in the med in summer, you'll find 2000 boats in an anchorage like this, meaning 10 boats within an 150 feet radius...!!!, but good job you nice people , nice journey , and nice boat !

It almost seems like the prevailing winds set you up for the south shore ? But no, absolutely not from what I saw on Windy. Easter Island is definitely a tough one for sailors. Especially if its all cliffs on the north and north east side, because bigger winds come from the south when I looked. So, yes, a rough one. Almost a week of high winds from the south for the next week or so, you'd have to go where you were at first and it looked deeper over there. There were many islands like that farther west in the pacific, some even worse, got deep from the shore, almost a mile deeo within a 100 meters.

Hard to watch knowing what will happen . I must admit I always figured they would have a disaster , thought it would be the mast . Good sailors , but I always thought the boat was not up to it . Not an insult , neither is mine , fast but not the boat to cross oceans .

You could always put 6 or 8 colorful artificial squid on your line several feet apart and a float at the end. Each squid has a 4' leader. pull 30yds or so behind. You could get incredibly expensive fishing poles with gear boxes in the reels. 2 of them. If you see birds and bait fish boiling - go over there. The tuna and purposes work together to round them up at the surface. You could watch "Wicked Tuna Outter Banks" to see how they catch 500lb blue fin tuna. I think that is on Netflix. Overnight, if you think there might be some tuna - chum the water and put hooks in some. You could get a fish finder if you don't have one. I am assuming yall know how to set up audible.com. Download the download manager and then fill it up. Audible tech support is there to help. If you get tech support, get them to put all the books into iTunes after you get audible manager filled up, it will sound better and more volume. all 190 books only take uo about 350 Meg. I've got them all on my iPhone for heaven sakes.
