I'm getting back into a project I dropped after finishing the first draft 4 years ago. I have not been looking forward to rereading everything, but this gave me the push I needed. Thanks for the encouragement!
Oooh, I could have used some of this last year! This was full of lovely advice. Number 1 was pretty helpful me when it came to music specifically even if it wasn't the exact same songs, but ones that had a similar ~vibe I found helped (thanks to Hozier for releasing a new album right around the time I started my complete rewrite lol). And number 3 was more like a general 'why am I writing?' for me like not project specific but 'why do I write at all?' (not in a negative way, but genuinely asking myself). I wrote my YA fantasy's first draft the latter half of 2020 and basically went on (a sorta) hiatus from burnout for 2021 & 2022. Beyond life things, I had been writing with only traditional publication in mind since 2013 at that point so it actually took going back to fanfiction in 2022 to remind me that I write for fun too. I def feel like if the step away from writing or a project was goal-based ("why don't I have a book deal yet?") or rejection-based (not getting into an MFA program, shelving a book after querying) then having a bit of time where you remind yourself why you love writing in general (fanfiction, writing a poem and giving it to a loved one, writing the most self-insert and indulgent short story imaginable, working on the most extravagant worldbuilding bible you may not ever even use, writing AUs of your own characters, etc.) might help too.
I'm so glad it was helpful!! I've had to step back and rethink my overall goals with writing a few times, too. Sometimes we can get so lost in all the imaginary "next steps" that we forget to find enjoyment and fulfillment in our current step 😅 Best of luck with your writing!
I'm trying to get back into a project I started 6 years ago and had to stop cause I had my daughter. Now I am trying to re-read the outline and the outline itself is over 40 pages long. I may be a little over my head.
Just starting the video... I'm considering a good sign that I found this video, click play and the first thing I heard was "Hi I'm Andrea"... Well maybe I can restart my book too 😂
How much books do you publish for now and is there any mass paperback from them ? I tried to open your website but it's not opening, do you have e-mail ? Thanks

Amazing!! I'm so happy to hear it. Good luck restarting! 👏
Very useful. I'm considering restarting a long abandoned project. It seems daunting. Thank you.
Good luck with your project! 💪
