Nice spots but good luck getting a reservation on a weekend or holiday (as I am just finding out).... had some crazy notion about motorcycle camping along the coast, but doesn't look like it will be at any of the State beaches unless a cancellation pops up (I can't plan six months in advance, which I believe is when they become available too reserve).
Agreed - these campgrounds/campsites are usually booked solid within a minute of when they become available. We do offer an availability alert service that will text/email you when a site becomes available through cancellation. It includes a link to try and reserve. Still need to jump on it (the alert) ASAP as others are always monitoring: www.campsitephotos.com/campsite-assist/
Hi Dean, You're right - almost all of the beach campground campsites have little privacy and are right next to each other. There are some campsites that have bushes/trees in between (giving a little privacy) at South Carlsbad State Beach, Doheny State Beach and San Elijo State Beach. McGrath State Beach has a few as well, but I believe the campground is still closed. You can go to our website to check out each campsite at these campgrounds:www.campsitephotos.com/
San Elijo State Beach has a dog-friendly beach just south of campground. I believe a few others in Northern California, but not sure. Perhaps someone else knows and can comment.
Awesome vid, pics and info. Thanks!
Great 👍 video, really helps with choosing somewhere before you make a reservation, Thank You

Morro Strand is one of my favorites but lately they have added more RV spots and removed tent spots....

Doheny #94 is the best! Long “L” shaped driveway and neighbors on only one side.
It would have been nice to see the area, rather than mostly parking lots. I’d like to take my kids beach but I don’t know the areas
Most if not all southern Ca beach camp spots have nearby homeless and a high stolen rate from campers.
Do you know of any beach camping that has decent privacy? Seems like many campsites are on top of each other with no divider. Thanks!

Can you car camp at these sites?
Hi Craig,
Yes, you can car camp at these campgrounds.
How much do they cost or are they free?
All of the campgrounds in the video charge an overnight fee for camping. The rate/fee varies per campground.
Are any of these free
Unfortunately none of the campsites are free. All have a fee to camp.
Any of these campsites have dog friendly beaches
San Elijo State Beach has a dog-friendly beach just south of campground. I believe a few others in Northern California, but not sure. Perhaps someone else knows and can comment.
