When I get mine I'm ready to stay current and fly safe with a safety pilot who knows how to Brief the instrument chart procedures and knowledge of type approaches we need to know how it's done before going up

So lets say I have logged 3 approaches in last month (December) but im not longer current because it expired on December 31st. Im now in the grace period of needing to get 6 approaches in within 6 months now. If I go in the plane tomorrow but another safety pilot and log 3 more approaches will that put me as current now? Im using the previous 3 approaches last month as well.

I am in the Pacific Ocean flying a helicopter from a tuna boat. I need to get my instrument rating. I would like to buy your IFR training course online, but I have been having difficulty finding how to do that.

    Question:
Hypothetical speaking, if I did not log the 6HITs within the first 6months. Let's say I was only able to do 4 approaches. Would those 4HITs carry over? Or would I have to do a whole new 6 HITS?

    • @KingSchools

It depends on when those 4 approaches were, it's a rolling window. If those 4 approaches were over 6 months ago, they would not count.

Newly uploaded video with out-of-date information on the use of ATD's for instrument currency?

@@Poop-nu1so sorry, I re-watched. The ATD question mentioned 3 hours - I thought the video was training you on the old ATD requirements. The question seems to be alluding to the old requirements for the purpose of tricking you.

@@aviatortrevor yes that old requirement for AATD ! No need to do every 2 months and no need 3 hours of training with a instructor !!
