    Wow, this brings back memories. This apron was the first sewing project I did in the seventh grade in 1967. This was so fun to watch. Thank you.

    Thank you for the tutorial. On the pockets, am I basically stitching 1/8 inch around and then stitching on top of that when I sew it to the apron?

    Hello. I'm just wondering, does the top of the waist band stay open, or does it also get sewing shut when pinned to the apron body? I appreciate your videos.

    I’m trying to make a curtain for under my kitchen desk and have been looking everywhere for a good tutorial. (It will be attached with Velcro tape since it is an odd shape where a tension rod won’t work) This was so helpful! Thank you so much for your clear and patient instructions!!

    Back in the long-ago-days (1960’s), this apron was the first project we did in our sewing group. It might seem difficult at first view, but just slowly take each step at a time. You’ll be finished in no time. 👍😃

    Quick tip for gathering, ladies; Do a wide zig zag over a couple of strands of dental floss and then gather by pushing the fabric toward the middle evenly from both sides (obviously) The dental floss is a lot less likely to break! Hope that's helpful!

      @TheSewingRoomChannel  4 года назад +3

    Suggestions: buy fabric that is not askew or off the straight grain, pull a crosswise thread and cut on that line, pull fabric on bias if needed to straighten it, wash if needed, then construct without recutting raw edges. I remember when fabric shops would nearly never cut woven fabrics. Instead, they would tear.

    • @gessew

      I tore fabric for years working at a fabric shop. Now I have arthritis in both thumbs. Just sayin’. I complain, but sewing is still a joy.

    How long is the total waistband.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  3 года назад +1

      Hi Barbara. The length can be custom to your waist size. Make it long enough to go around your waist with maybe 20" on each end to be used to tie a bow. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
