We think it should have been! But it wasn't reconstructed / renovated until the early 2000's. It is only in our adult lifetime that we are able to see it as it once stood when first erected!

Last time we went to Borobudur, the ticket buying is straightforward, only need just 1 ticket and free reign of the park and the temple, just need to wear sarong for the people who wear shorts. Probably because of pandemic or that parkour incident, that they make it more complicated now to visit the temple. 🤷🏽♀️
That's what we have heard from many others. Sadly, a few dumb people made it complicated for everyone else. But thankfully, there is now a system that will prevent vandalism and still allows the temple to be explored by people who will respect the site. Thanks for tuning in!
