Dude, look up Star Wars cowboy bebop intro, the dude made it look 10x better than this. The poses and faces the actors make in here are just so incredibly goofy
I'm glad they kept Tank as the opening theme as it's pretty much the most iconic song in the series, plus I'll be happy if they at the least manage to nail the various H2H fights Spike gets into.
That H2H is exactly what I don't see being nailed. The speed lines animated with punches and kicks. The weight behind them, it's choreographed gold. Nonetheless I'll watching with an open mind and popcorn.
Well, I think the H2H fights are about the only thing (aside from Ein) that this show looks to be getting right, or potentially getting. Honestly, I have no hope for this show. They're going to change things too much and emphasize stuff from it that shouldn't be emphasized simply to portray how woke Netflix is. It's not about appeasing the fans of the series, it's about showing how woke Netflix is by ruining an iconic show. It's a good thing that the series has ended and there's no way they can destroy the momentum of the original series, like what happened with the travesty of a film The Last Airbender and how it affected Avatar the Last Airbender tv series like it did.
The anime 'Cowboy Bebop' is nothing short of a cult classic, with more than enough style to last the more than 20 years since it first aired. And Netflix, "you're going to have to carry that weight".
"Carry that weight"... psshhhh, like they even care. This is just a big clueless cash grab at the anime community. The director even said that he's re-envisioning the story. Its just gonna be a big slap across the face to people that actually appreciate the original.

This! While everyone is crying all I care about is the acting and which stories or how far into the show they'll go. I want to see the last arc adapted.
I read somewhere that it will not be a complete 1:1 of the original serie, so it could be that some important episodes will be adapted and others will be original
Mad Pierrot is shown and he's episode 20. One woman looks like Elektra from the movie and that's between 22 and 23. The absence of Ed makes me wonder if they're not sticking with original episode numbers and if they'll cut some eps completely and change plots around on others.
The showrunner said in an interview that no episode will be adapted 1:1, but they're taking elements from certain stories and putting them together. Though I will say some shots here look pretty 1:1 to me, but it could be because it's the OP and it's just showing off the show Nonetheless, it looks good and I can't wait for it

Because it looks like the tone they're going for is closer to 70s exploitation than a hard imitation of the anime, which makes sense because you simply cannot evoke the exact same feel of the anime in a live action show. It's a perfect example of some things being attainable in animation that aren't in live action. The showrunner said as much in an interview, and said that instead of just trying to "remake" the source material, they're trying to adapt it into a show that keeps the spirit of the original while being it's own thing instead of just aping the anime. It's a good idea honestly, I just wish they went more Firefly and less Black Dynamite.
@@toucanpamela That's the thing! They wish this was 70s exploitation. That's actually closer to the original anime. This is just a modern live action "trying to look" like the original.
ditto. Part of me likes that they are commiting to keeping it stylized, it may very well pay off. But its jarring especially when I think of how I initially pictured them doing this. There is still potential though that the show can be legit. The opening has me on the fence, but if they can bring the drama, the acting and writing together, that mixed with what looks like potential good action sequences, the show might be what fans have been wanting for 20 years. This video however doesnt silence critics, and it doesnt fill me with complete hope. (flip side it doesnt leave me completely disapointed either)
It kinda looks like a bunch of cosplayers got together to make this. I'll have to wait and see. Also, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but it HEAVILY reminds me of the Speed Racer movie (which is a favorite of mine, no joke), but I really hope that's not the case, since that comic style (of film) just doesn't mesh well with cowboy bebop.
cowboy bebop was everything. it's ... a league above in a way that no live action will be able to recreate exactly. noire is hard to get right. so while people are griping about the look of things, that's secondary to the spirit. if they get that right, everything else falls away. jury's still out. until the show actually comes out, people can say whatever the hell they want. and you know what? probably even after the show comes out people will still have split opinions. hope for the best but prepare for the worst. gotta give em props for at least trying y'know? live actions are cursed so it's a huge undertaking.
i literally watched the anime for the first time this year and then started the netflix show like 3 days after finishing the anime so it's still very fresh in my mind. i think keeping the original theme and even remaking the opening to fit was one of the smartest moves they could have taken. it wouldn't have felt like bebop without the theme for me ❤️
Much like the Boulder, I'm conflicted on this one. I really appreciate the lengths they went to to make it look like the original, but the live action bits still feel really awkward, and the sad thing is, I think they could have fixed that by just dropping the frame rate on them.
Oh no, it's much worse. Fan projects have shoestring budgets to work with but lots of passion to make up for it. If it were a fan made project it'd at least have these things going for it. Netflix on the other hand has massive amounts of money and absolutely no passion whatsoever.
Not having Edward on the opening upsets me. It feels so weird to show only 3 character boxes and an empty black space. They should at least show Edward silhuette.
@@BiyikFrostDiaz really? Why bother to show pretty much every episode's antagonists then? Is it a completely new story then or just a condensed retelling of the original plot focusing on Julia and vicious?
Even if the live action is not good, and here’s hoping it is, I would rather have a live action adaptation suck because it at least tried to capture the spirit of the anime and the essence of its characters, rather than it suck and it didn’t even try to capture the whole point of the source material.
You know, that's kind of how I feel about a lot of the live action manga/anime adaptations. For me, the reason this stands a shot, is because its a series, and not a movies that they are going to have to cut a whole bunch of content from, to cram the most action oriented scenes in to 1h30m. Like there are a some Netflix adaptations even, where you can at least see that the attempt was made, but it was always going to be impossible to get right? If you squint hard FMA and Bleach are in there somewhere, but its impossible to tell those stories in a film, without leaving too much out or changing too much. I think this is going to be a good one myself. I have high hopes.
I have feeling the production will be more higher than the Witcher. I thought the first season was an awful production along with Henry Cavill. I think Cowboy Beebop will be so much better. Perhaps or maybe not as great like Shadow and Bone, but it will be way better than the Witcher with its finesse like the anime. This series is definitely a wild card.
They have already stated that they didn't even try to.capture the whole point of the original. A lot of changes are going to be made to make it for a "modern" audience, and they've already ruined Faye and missed the whole point of her character.
The reason why it'll most likely be successful is because it won't require much CGI honestly. So therefore the budget can be invested in other vital resources.
There's a level of cheese here that I really, really hope is intentional. The original show had a really clever sense of humor, I hope that comes across in the show. John Cho is really talented and I don't doubt he wants to do the character right.
Jon Cho hasnt done anything to impress me yet in his career. I dont say that in a mean way., What I really mean is I am hoping his run as Spike becomes definitive the same way you could say Henry Cavil OWNED Geralt of Rivia.

I'm glad they kept Tank as the opening theme as it's pretty much the most iconic song in the series, plus I'll be happy if they at the least manage to nail the various H2H fights Spike gets into.
I'm excited to see Faye in her formal wear, that was an iconic dress to those of us who enjoyed her character.🔥💜
That H2H is exactly what I don't see being nailed. The speed lines animated with punches and kicks. The weight behind them, it's choreographed gold. Nonetheless I'll watching with an open mind and popcorn.
considering most of the fight scenes in that show were either copied into real life movies or other anime, you can probably expect that
Well, I think the H2H fights are about the only thing (aside from Ein) that this show looks to be getting right, or potentially getting.
"Real Folk Blues" though, or am I the only one who stays until the ending theme ends.

Also Brain Scratch it´s a philosophical one episode
The showrunner said in an interview that no episode will be adapted 1:1, but they're taking elements from certain stories and putting them together. Though I will say some shots here look pretty 1:1 to me, but it could be because it's the OP and it's just showing off the show

Because it looks like the tone they're going for is closer to 70s exploitation than a hard imitation of the anime, which makes sense because you simply cannot evoke the exact same feel of the anime in a live action show. It's a perfect example of some things being attainable in animation that aren't in live action.
Everything we've seen shows that the people making this have absolutely no idea what Cowboy Bebop is.

Sure, but some animated shows clearly have potential and were already inspired by live action movies so this has a shot at being good.
@@theyearwas1473 to be fair, it didn't work at first. Only after Ryan Reynolds got his hand on it, THEN did it work.

My favourite 2021 series. I've seen it like 8 times now and every time I appreciate all the details they added, how they expanded on themes and motifs from the original etc. But yeah, very subjective, I loved the anime, so obviously I'd love this...
I just hope this live series captures the jazzy smooth noir vibes that made the anime so great. Like saxophones blowing sexy sounds away during night sky and space scenes while the fender rhode synths massage our ear drums.
This is the most important thing they need to nail, Space Lion alone is worth watching the entire series
Don't worry the composer Yoko Kano is back for this adaptation so the music's is guaranteed to be amazing
fender rhodes ain't a synth but yes to everything else you said
@@Spaceroast Yes and No. There are fender rhodes synths out there on DAWS.
I hope we actually get film noir vibes like in the original.
The thing that would have broken me is if they didn't use the original song and keep the style similar. Beautiful
they even brought back the original composer Yoko Kanno too
Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop: “It’s so sad we lost Ed, otherwise we would have put her in the show”
Ed: “Stop telling people I’m dead!”
Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop: “Sometimes we can still hear her voice”
I'm guessing they're gonna have like 4 seasons. This is all before Ed was introduced
it'll probably be a surprise sequel hook near the end of season one
Gotta save some stuff for future seasons.
@@brandonv6905 not the assass a in clown guy
@@josepadilla9843 agreed, Mad Pierrot is near the end of the series, so if this is just for season 1 that would be odd.
Man this is so underrated
0:53 I'ma be honest, Asimov and Katerina are the only shot here that looks pitch perfect to what I imagined. Everything else looks like a fan film.
It looks like a pretty good fan film. I just don’t like the casting of Spike and Faye, they don’t seem to have the character’s energy.
@@kintarooe8688 true. Faye needs bigger boobs
@@doughy_ and shorter shorts 😏
@@kintarooe8688 You gleaned a lot about their “energy” from this opening. Huh.
The combo of music and shot at 00:34 is really good as well
This feels more like somebody’s awkward fan film than an actual TV show
😂😂 💯 they didn’t even try
That's what I was thinking, the pacing is a bit slow for the song but I do think that they are trying they just need to tighten it a bit.
I think they're playing on this to their advantage. If they're really really lucky, they might be able to ride with it as their artistic theme and they might just be able to pull this off. We will have to wait until November to see.
At least if it were a fan film you could excuse the budget constraints and the passion of the fans making it. Netflix has the opposite, big budget, no passion, and it shows.
@@kennethe6071 Sure jan. Keep telling yourself that.
>doesn't want to be compared with the anime
>uses the same format of the opening for nostalgic value anyways
They're trying to play both sides. Banking on nostalgia of the original show, while claiming this is something different to deflect backlash.
Lol, why don't you guys praise then?
@@Pan_Z And I'm betting they're gonna fail on both sides.
@@Mugen2024 why would we praise? That’s the point they are lying to cover their ass
@@raibyo I'm being the opposite. This looks like fun!!
a second season please, where do I make my donation for the second season? Netflix please

You really want a second season of that? You are disgusting me
