- Thanks to the God of War Reddit, when you head back to Alfheim you find out from Mimir that the light temple is actually for the Vanir god Freyr, Freya's brother. THIS is what the Dark Elf leader meant when he suggested we helped the wrong side.

Chiming in. This final scene to my understanding when you go back to the temple is only achieved once you complete the game and bring Mimir back. The final log explains how the Light Elves are now on the lookout for their god. I think THIS is about as much of a secret scene as you can get. Thoughts?
I think you missed the scene where Atreus asks if the war between the light and dark elves is over because of what he and his father did, and Kratos and Mimir are both like nope.
but how does the fact that the Elves of Lights are looking for their Lord Freyr is a bad thing for Kratos? Maybe a bad thing for the Dark Elves but how is it about Kratos?
Freya, is NUN too happy at our Tattooed heart-throb. She may ask her big bro to kill Kratos since SHE cannot harm anyone thanks to Odin.
A full War of the Light and Dark Elves is coming
Except Kratos did a favor at Freyr somewhere. And knowing the reputation of Kratos, especially now that he killed what could not be killed, I am surprised that there are still gods to want to face him. I question their intelligence or survival instinct. And the Elves are already in total war. Since always according to Mimir.
1:10 that f*cking voice detail! I love it when their voice echoed when entering the cave. No wonder this game is so good
Extraordinary
“That... is adorable” you fuckin bet it is. An innocent mind with a question that anyone in a neutral side could always answer~
I like how almost everyone misses that the relationship between the Light and Dark Elves is reminiscent of the relationship between Athens and Sparta.
Really ? Can you explain how I am not in history that much
@@chasecook8277 Athens was more focused on development and details, while Sparta was more focused on warfare and simplicity.
So, by all accounts, God of War 5 will feature Freya, the resurrected Valkyrie warrior; Freyr, her brother; Thor, possibly as the main antagonist; and my guess is possibly Fenrir, Hela, and Odin will make appearances as well. I don't play the games at all but the stories are like watching mini-movies. I'm okay with that.
People are speculating that Thor and Kratos will die early on in the game. My hope is that they're wrong, because Atreus is much too young to be left alone to fend for himself. His relationship with Kratos carried God of War 4 so well, so I worry what it will be like without his father. But it would be nice to play AS Atreus for a change, seeing how the story foretold by the giants was in fact Atreus' story (the "guardian" left in Midgard, alongside Jormungandr) and not Kratos' story.
barbaro267 Maybe if Kratos does die, it could years later when Atreus is much older and a more capable warrior, emulating the more merciful and humane side of Kratos we saw in Ascension while still wielding his father's ferocity in battle and occasional brutality yeah?
I personally want Atreus to acquire a weapon outside of his bow and arrows that properly mirrors the Blades of Chaos which we all know Kratos does not want his son inheriting in anyway. Like keep the archery obviously but give the kid something else for close combat.
I'm not all that familiar with the weapons of Norse Mythology lol but I'm sure there's gotta be quite a few our boy could get his hands on
Remember that the world serpent fought Thor in the future? So it's clear that Thor fought Kratos and possibly won.
Personally, I think it'll be something akin to Kratos doing battle with Atreus via the Blades of Chaos versus an imitation of them. I think Atreus will get the Blades from his dad at some point, but then reject them in favor of something else. It's sad to say but I think they will be at odds with one another at some point.
Although, since it would seem that God of War will inevitably continue, there is still Egyptian mythology to explore. So that'll either fall on Atreus' shoulders or Kratos'.
The Writer's Lens Is Kratos survives Ragnarok he would be too old for the Egyptian pantheon(and those fuckers are tough ! Imagine old ass Kratos vs the Sphynx ? Or Seth ?)
Im guessing Thor will kill Kratos in GOW 5,wich would be years after this one(as they said « many years later » in Atreus foreshadowing dream) and then Atreus/Loki will start his vengeance aventure like his father did in his young age
They fight all the time and are actually the same but the only difference is color. Sounds familiar
The Man in Black Black and white people?
Anirudh Sivakumar
"these days"
To think humans are territorial and fight over anything.
There are plenty of differences besides skin color. Cranial structure, for example
Difference is also in their culture. Not just skin colour. You can see the dark elves are a lot more aggressive than the light elves. (Not making comparisons to real life)**
I think Freyr might actually be that boar from early in the game. Freya said that he was her friend that could change into animals but was just currently stuck as a boar. Freya also turned into a bird towards the end of the game, so that's proof that that's one of the powers the Vanir gods have.
I think that is a very valid theory, one of which I actually hope is true. Especially since there's something about him not being able to return home and the place I think mentioned as the Vanir's home (the one seen in Freya's window) is being blocked by Odin, which explains Freyr being missing because he can't go home to remember who he is.
Do you know the name so I can do some research?
According to the myths, Loki once orchestrated a competition between two groups of dwarves. The sons of Ivaldi and Brook/Eitri. Loki had gotten 3 great artefacts from the sons of Ivaldi and he made a bet with Brook and Eitri that they could not make anything better. All of the artefacts were presented to the Aesir as gifts so that they could act as judges. Loki gave them the flying ship Skidbladnr for Freyr which could be folded up like a napkin, Odin's spear Gungnir and a wig of blond hair made from actual gold meant for Thor's wife Sif (Loki had cut off her real hair as a prank). Brook and Eitri produced Draupnir, a golden ring that made nine more every nine nights for Odin, Mjolnir for Thor (which won them the competition) and Gullenbursti, a living, invulnerable Boar made of pure gold that could run through the air and acts as Freyr's battle-steed.
The point of all that is that the boar is Freyr's sacred animal so it makes sense if the magical boar that isn't really a boar we met earlier turns out to be Freyr.
Mrrsmtchll2 Its both actually
If you go back into the hut however, Freya calls the boar Hildisvini. who she rode to find Ottar's ancestors but Hildisvini was Ottar in disguise. They went to find a seeress to prove Ottar was...I dunno, someone important with good pedigree (hence finding his ancestors) and forced the seeress to give him a memory potion.
I don't know the importance of Hildisvini, but as Johan said it could very well be modified to be Freyr.
they roasted racism
Except that they did not explain genetics. Also, the concept of the elves most likely came from the concept of the spirits of dead humans especially children still lingering in the world. Linguistics help prove the connection between the concept of elves and the concept of dead humans being reborn as elves to wait for rebirth through their relatives.
Not racism but fighting for no reason
I misheard two hundred thirteen times to two hundred fxxking times......
STEEL BALLS
Same
That makes sense now! Had no idea tf he was talking about. I thought was going to find out later like a big boss battle. But nup. Thanks for sharing video 🤙
Thank you for posting this. Just realized that in the mythology that Freyr is Freya's twin brother and he is actually depicted in some of the scenes of Ragnroak in the lore markers fighting beside Freya, Odin, Thor and Freya's boar. I can't wait for the next game
In norse mythology, Freyr holds a sword that fight on it’s own. It was supposed to defeat Surtr in Ragnarok, but in another norse myth, he gave his sword away to his servant as a gift.
And in another version, he gave his sword away for love.
It wasnt exactly a gift, it was payment for the servant to ask his crush in marriage for him, the giant Gerd.
She is mentioned in GOWR and its the reason he even found Alfheim when he fell in the lake of souls trying to do a impressive act to charm her back.
The sword thing was put as Freyr giving his sword (Ingrid) to the most beautiful person he has seen and fallen in love... not knowing it was Odin disguised.
The servant also is mentioned around Freyr's camp where one of the collectables there its something around his family (i only know the name in my first language "brasao de familia de Skírnir")
Why do they fight all the time if there really the same " Facts
Kinda funny how they refer to him as Lord Freyr. Freyr literally means Lord. They're calling him Lord Lord.
"Never trust an elf!" - Grand Marshall Garithos.
Or General Tallius
"DIE MONGREL!" - Our lord and savior Garithos
@@ssibiokr2057 garithos is racist
@@rathzo1800 So were the elves, dwarves, orcs and the undead even! ^_^
You know, I'm kind of sad that you can't take any side-quest from light elves. I mean, sure, we got ghosts, Brok and Sindri, but imagine if you could give elves some favors. It'd also make Alfheim more open for possibilities.
I hope they explain how a civilization of unarmed, floating elves take back their light every time it is taken from them by their cousins in the next game.
The Light Elves seem to be rather pathetic. And since they’ve banned all but one of the gods from their realm, I don’t see how it is remotely possible for them to always retake their light every cycle of war. How they survived extinction is miraculous.
Magic. No, really, they're Elves, they can probably use magic.
Sean Clark Calm down. I deleted my comment. I mistook the names because they read similarly. You’re right.
I found it kind of weird how the dark elves seem tangible and more human like while the light elves just seem like ghosts. I expected them to be more Tolkien like. I feel like that would be much cooler. Maybe it will explain in the next game that maybe the light elves in this scene are just the spirits of elves or something
I think that whenever the dark elves and have control of the light they become light elves while the original light elves are killed or are cast out into darkness to become dark elves and continue the cycle it’s just what I think though...
I read somewhere that it was hinted that the Light Elves were attempting to use a Ghandi Gambit to get the Dark Elves to stop killing them. Or perhaps they use light based attack magic.
I'm glad Freyr got mentioned in this game. If Freya is going to be a boss fight in the next game (and that seems really likely), I'm sincerely hoping that the fight between her and Kratos will end in a stalemate, because certain individuals intervene on Kratos's behalf and convince Freya that Kratos and Atreus/Loki are not her real enemies. The individuals I hope will intervene are the Valkyries, because Kratos and Atreus/Loki freed them from their physical prisons, and Freyr, because Kratos and Atreus/Loki freed the Light Elves and as ruler of the Light Elves (even though he is a Vanir God, not a Light Elf) Freyr now owes Kratos and Atreus/Loki a debt for freeing his people.
If you open the Jöntar shrine at the temple after getting Mimir you get dialogue from him about it. Otherwise you only hear Atreus' lines.
What temple 🙄?
Tyr's temple? Of alfeim? Or something else
Considering that last line about all Elf-kind being drawn away to search for Freyr, it would explain why we end up seeing Dark Elves in Midgard at one point. Either that, or they were an isolated tribe.
Perhaps the dark elf meant that freeing the light will make both kratos and my boy arthritis, enemies of the aesir which they already are. I've Found out that the dark elves was under command from the allfather himself.
What?when?
Robin Arcebuche arthritis?! You mean Atreus?
PenguinrulesUK what's the difference?
Yeah whats the difference.
I know his name, smartass. just wanted to have fun lil bit.
Ferdy Siauw, Light elves was followers of frey and he was a vanir while the dark elves was opposing the light elves.
Can't wait to see Freyr and his sword, Sumarbrandr, make an appearance later.
Well, I never read those Norse Riordan books, I just heard of it. For some odd reason, it's harder to look up Sumarbrandr than it should be. Here's a link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumarbrandr, but it's wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt as you will
It might be worth noting that Sumarbrandr is also sometimes identified with Lævateinn
ThatAussieGirl the sword is in Norse Mythology it just doesn’t have a specific name like in the Magnus Chase Books.
It’s a sword that fights on its own “If wise be he who wields it” (which ironically came before the “If he be worthy” on Thor’s hammer in Marvel, which wasn’t in the original mythology).
It only appears in one story where Freyr’s servant uses it to threaten a giant into marrying him/ gives it to her to convince her to marry Freyr depending on the version of the story. Afterwards the sword is randomly never seen again
His sword is Ingrid
This explains a lot, When playing the game i always had a feeling that it was always suspiciously convenient that she just show up at the exact right time, takes you to the realm travel room, gives you access to alfheim and gives you the bifrost crystal, it seemed like a lot of work to clear one obstacle... but if the light elves worship Freyr it would make a lot of sense that she want them to win so they could seek out her brother... not to mention i have this Theory that Freya wants to accelerate events to bring about Ragnarok which she does by leading Kratos & Son to Alfheim, then leads kratos to open up the gates of hel, then when you defeat all valkyries you find out that Freya is valkyrie queen... which means she could have cursed all the valkyrie with vanir magic to stop their duty of leading the dead who died in battle to valhalla ... all big events that cause the amount of undead to overflow into mid-guard.
Sefveron
The only bad part is Baldur has to die for Ragnorok to truly begin and he must be resurrected by Loki
It's stated in the game that Odin was the one that corrupted the valkyries
I think odin was the one who kick-start ed ragnarok by sending baldur after the bois knowing he'd be killed
0:43 Kratos jump so hard the boat sunk.
If Freyr is Freya's brother, then that makes him Baldur's uncle.
the reverb they made when in the tunnel was surreal wow
This is tragic actually. Damn
They've been at war for such a long time.. but these light elves seem more like monks. Had it not been for Kratos. Exactly how would the light elves wage war?
The scroll said that the light elves think kratos was a soldier sent by freyr, i think the light elves got a little help from a vanir god every time there is a war
There's no way to know, but don't underestimate monks. The ones we saw could've just been the nonviolent ones but why they sacrificed themselves we may never know unless they explain it in the next game.
shaolin kung fu monks
2:38 "Surely we are liberated by the forces sent forth at his command, like the sword of legend" ...Jack?
For a second I thought the Dark and Light Elves, fighting over the light, was being attributed to night and day, but then what's with that 213 times thing? There's more than that in a single year.
I think you're just reading into something that's not there. The point is that the light has switched hands so many times that no one knows the true owner and their true purpose is not for the light but to fight each other
Well his exact words are: "No less than 213 times" so it could go up to 365 (366 for leap year), or it could be a calendar specific to the region.
I Lo0o0ove how they did this game, it's a single player game with residual replay value.
2:25
Huh, neat.
Welp, looks like we'll be looking for him in the next game
Magnus Chase anybody?
Jason Hudson yep
Me I have 2 magnus chase books
Anirudh Sivakumar I’ve only read the Greek ones so I’m not sure but I did know that Frey is his dad

Can't wait to check out Brok and Sindri's home in the next games XD
Atreus: why do the elves fight:
Mimir: You see lad....* Starts singing Buffalo soldier... In the heart of America...*
Came back from GOW Ragnarok.
Freyr is a freaking chad. Get so high on weed he accidently found peace between Dark and Light elf
With a these cliff hangers there definitely would be a sequel.
Could it be that the light and dark elves seek to control the light for the same reason, to find Freyr but their differences lays in how they'll use it to do so? Like the light elves wishes to keep the light for all to behold so that no corner of the world may be too dark for the light to shine the location of Freyr and the Dark Elves seek to take it so they could use so no one else but them could find him. With what another earlier post pointed out they work under the orders of Odin, so could it be that both side were actually tricked into eternal war by the Allfather himself as to prevent the elves from ever becoming a threat? Given the guy reputation, I wouldn't be surprised if he is the very reason why Freyr is nowhere to be seen, if not the culprit himself as to dispose the Vanir of potentials allies by dividing the elves into two faction and goaded them with a honorable cause that would insure their mutual hostilities, which would last forever since he'd make sure to hide him somewhere where he is sure the light won't reach him. Fit Odin modus operandi like a charm, doesn't it?
As a sidenote, I can't help but wonder how Odin will react when he'll learn that the Vanir are all dead, or so they seemed looking at that sight from the montaintop and from how Atreus heard no voice, basically that even their souls had transpired the plane to somewhere else.
The vanir aren't all dead, I believe you are thinking of the jotun/giants
You missed the part where you go down to the chest in front of the light and there is an additional dialogue.
You should do more about the Elves
This part was magical
Why do i get the feeling that we're going to find Freyr in the next game?
we might, but by then, we might be forced to kill him
nice intuition
Dwarves have some similarities with elves
Never knew about this until now since there isn't really much main reason to return to Alfheim other than the Valkyrie, because you would've likely explored it all the first time you visited Alfheim. At least for me anyway
Ok but Bladur is the norse God of Light, Freyr is the norse God of sunshine(also peace and fertility)
*I answer the call! from now on My sword and i will always be with you* -Freya Mobile Legends
Based on Norse mythology, freyr and surtur the fire giant will be killing each other during ragnarok
I wonder if there will be any more mention of Surtr in this franchise.
barbaro267 He trains constantly in Muspelheim waiting for the day he can take down the walls of Asgard.
Not before he burns all of the Nine Worlds.
Wow Thats interesting! Thanks for this. You can also get some Dialogue if you try to visit Freya
I can think of one conflict thats been going on for 78yrs
This is just racism in a nutshell
Mimir-only few gods are welcome but you are not a god
Kratos-who said you are smart
Mimir-why do you think that I am not smart
Kratos-have'nt you listened about Greek warrior who killed all gods
Mimir-so you are the god of war
Sorry I am so cracked
Well they may have started as the same species but clearly they have changed over the millennia
1:15 getting all pc all the sudden. And in norse myth, light elves are born from the rivers of alfheim and dwarves are born from Ymir's flesh.
Girolamo Pagnucco that’s not “PC” it’s human nature. And the entire GoW story has differences from the original mythology
With the reveal that the light elves will be basic enemies in Ragnarok, I can’t wait to see how the plot pits us against Freyr
Wait, I thought that door didn't have a seal to open like a normal door lol.
Honestly I think the light elves are bad. They worship freyr, who unlike freya was never extradited from vanaheim and is likely a selfish and ill spirited god like Odin. The dark elf telling kratos he made a terrible mistake in killing him couldve been to say that he eliminated the only force/wall between the light elves who could possibly empower freyr even more and cause devastation in Midgard or the other realms
I swear, I see you everywhere I go lol
May I know where you learned he was selfish and ill spirited like Odin?
ThatAussieGirl that I'm afraid is in the mythology. Odin in the mythology is nothing like the Odin in the god of war game. Balder in the mythology was the son of Odin and Frigga and he was the fairest of the gods, the god of peace, sunlight and summer but also a great warrior.
In this game not much is like the mythology but it is still very enjoyable.
Baldur was probably fair and good before Freya/Frigg messed him up
No, He needed to be taught. And I doubt his parents who ran things had the time or interests. But we simply do not know that. I honestly think the devs really wanted to make Freya the foil to Faye. But to some like me it's just shitty circumstances that make Freya a bad person.
She did what I would have done if I was ever a parent. Choose the child over everything.
kratos would not even let artreus go to school because of mimir he just hands it to artreus and would just ask questions then artreus would be wise . like if you agree
Freyr Boss Fight confirmed.
We're most likely letting him fight with Surtr as we take on Thor
to think the elf worship a high dude
Dwarves share sinilarities with elves. Some dwarves have elf in their names like Gandalf meaning wand or staff elf
Great channel!
So svartalfheim in this game is actually nidavellir ?
The Azazzin seems so
Svartalheim is Nidavellir in Norse mythology too. Same realm different name.
Mr. Dmitri Stormbreaker is Marvel original content. No weapon by that name appears in Norse mythology
In Marvel, Svartalfheim and Nidavellir are two different realms lol. One is the land of the Dark Elves (all restless souls because they all died) and the other is the land of the dwarves, led by Eitri.
Marvel weren't trying to accurately reproduce Norse mythology. hell, this game isn't exactly doing that either... If they were, at the very least, Loki would be Odin's brother, and Thor would be a good natured idiot.
Bro, I missed this lore. I didn't know she has a brother.
Dwarves and elves share similar characteristics in Norse mythology
I had to listen a few times. But Mimir definitely says light beeze instead of breeze. Maybe it's just his accents. But I think Mimir likes bees
When you completed the game 100% eventually you'll found out that the light elves are actually slavers and why the dark elves are fighting with them which is a rebellion happening in alfheim. Kratos would tell Atreus that not everything is as seems to be.
The story of dark en licht elves is just like our World people only want the same color to be good
so thats who Kratos is carrying on his back in the Ragnarok trailer
Possibly
Wow Bethesda sure took a lot of Norse storylines for TES huh.
Well the nords are Norsemen, Skyrim is their home so makes sense ,
no shit
Oh shit the dwarf forge in infinity war is named after the Norse land of the dwarves? That’s sick!
Hitting hard here
The light elves design made no sense
214 times if you count when kratos and Atreus showed up
En la canción de destripando la historia lo ponen como un tío muy majo
Origin of racism 😔
this is quite fascinating
Is that why Freya got kicked out when she enter the realm ? Cause she’s banned from it like her brother ?
No. As stated in the game, the Aesir fed the Vanir false information that Freya betrayed them. So to ensure that the momentary ceasefire between the two continues, Freya is cursed to never leave Midgard.
Foreshadowing
I'm still a bit confused about what the dark elf meant does this mean the dark elves were on the aesir side plse can someone explain this to me
Muhammad Rafae elf is divided by two, there are light and dark, light is aided by aesir god, freyr, freya brother, and on the other side, dark elf is seen as evil and ugly(but we dont know if they are actually evil), and that is why freyr chooses the light elf, freyr(possibly corrupted by power, unlike freya, become the same arrogant god like odin and thor) as the most handsome and self-centered god supports the light elf
Ferdy Siauw Freyr is a Vanir god though, and they're supposedly good in this story, or did I miss something in the video?
Yes, he is a vanir god, but since his sister married to odin, and move to asgard(asgard and vanaheim are different realm), he follow her sister to asgard, and according to norse mythology, he always on aesir side and always follow their meeting too
Lord tachanka is my god btw
I see than this breaks the whole stereotype that something ugly is evil and something nice and overly good looking is well good kind of like beauty and the beast
We are so going to Asgard in GOD OF WAR 2
Technically it's God of War 5 lol. And yes, we are!!
I hope to visit remaining 3 realms in the sequel.
secret scene my ass dude...
Dark elves are similar to dwarves
THEY FUCKING REFERENCED FREYR IN GOW!!!
yes they did, but we probably won't get to meet him in person till the next game
God of war 5 I just wanna see what gods we get to fuck up this time around lol
in my personal opinion Atreus will be the LAST boss for the last GoW
I dont think so. It doesnt see right. And why would Atreus attack Kratos?
Robert Ninčević just because atreus is Loki himself (nordic god). Sorry for my bad english
+Sharingan200790 nope, look at the relics at the and of the game.
Didn't Kratos said that he would probably act like Freya? That he also would rather sacrifice himself than kill his own son?
Well, he killed his own daughter, I don't think he wanna go through this again
considering that in the myths, Loki starts Ragnarok, but also ends up dying doing so, maybe in the game, it will somewhat be the same
Atreus dies in the finale and Kratos is left to walk the earth alone again
he arrives in yet another foreign land with a new pantheon of gods to slay
Do both Light Elves and Dark Elves revere Freyr?
I think Freyr might appear In Ragnarok
#Darkelveslivesmatter
what's this sword of legend mentioned in the scroll? Oddly enough cant think of too many magic sword stories in norse myth cept maybe surtr's and sigurd's.
Gamr
Spiffy 84730 yuppp
He gets killed by Surtr because he doesn't have the sword, last I remembered
Freyr had a magic sword that could fight by itself but he gave it up once he got married which is why he dies at ragnarok against sutur
adam connell He*... You mean she?
This isnt even a scene this is dialogue
It's just the dialogue that's secret. There wouldn't be hidden cutscenes that aren't part of the main plot.
i hope freyr is in the next game
ahahah giving the boy the racism talk
I dont get it. The Dark Elf King said you are making a grave mistake. Now we find out that the Light Elves are waiting for Freyr. What is the connection? Is Freyr considered evil?
A Vanir god. Vanirs are not really on friendly terms with the Aesirs.
00:43Sooo um they talking about racism or something?
so, it's mean that they're choose the wrong side because the light elves became evil and ignorant if they had the light? and also because Odin commands the dark elves to keep the light from the light elves?
That's one way to look at it, though don't know if there's any way to know if Light Elves became "evil and ignorant". Kratos and Mimir seem think that neither side is right, so the Dark Elf Commander is likely just "You made a mistake because WE'RE the rightful owners of the light because we came first which makes the Light Elves evil!"
I understand that's what Mimir is saying, but that's his interpretation. Doesn't make it so, and doesn't detract from whether each type of elf perceives the other to be "evil and ignorant." Also, it may be convenient, but it could also just be a coincidence because they DID need the Bifrost light to travel between realms, because in actual mythology it WAS the Bifrost that allowed travel along the World Tree iirc.
Wrong side is an abstract in this topic.
Take Athens and Sparta for example, Athens was focused on trading, art, and architecture, while Sparta was focused on warfare, military strength and simplified approach to things.
And even though both Athenians and Spartans were Greek and worshiped the same gods, these differences are what made them dislike each other(to the point of even having a civil war).
So one could say that the Light Elves took on a more docile and knowledgeable nature, while the Dark Elves took on a more aggressive and warrior-like nature.
Whats your intro?
Yeah Boi, you see, once the Light Elves invented racial profiling for all Elves, all has gone to shit.
Story of my life.
Bro ill be down whenever you two wanna do this haha...
I dont talk to people that wanna harm me..
