A Lil late getting here, was back home in Danville last week visiting the fam for the holidays but loved the build and the vid Nick! Can't believe after all the discussion about this on the podcast neither Jason or KJ had the decency to stop by and drop you a comment. You'll hafta get on em!
Great video....as a cabinet and furniture maker (side gig) i envy you thats a nice shop! That bench style looks familiar.but forgot the name...i love your bessy collection!.. great clamps....never thought to use timbermate as a grain sealer...i love that stuff! I wanna make my dad a jazz bass but always been too scared..but this video gave me the kick in the pants i needed! Appreciate you sharing! Will definitely be using this for reference!
Very nice! I recognize the make of bass from Rondo Music. I have two of their basses. Better quality than the price indicates. I've often thought of building custom bodies from their instruments.
Looks great man! I just found your channel and this is something I've been debating doing myself for a long while. Glad to see you taking the jump and building your own too! Hope you are still liking it!
Hahaha, when you put the black on the front, I was laughing, then it turned out really good. There was a pretty wide array of emotions as you applied the dies to the front as they washed together then different camera angle and they looked great. it is a shame most of it gets covered up by the pick guard. Looks great and sounds good too!
Nick, this turned out so nice. When you put the India ink all over it, I was thinking that you were out of your bloody mind… but then you sanded it off, which intrigued me… and then the colours were added. Absolute class! You did a super nice job of the fade too. I’m not a fan of the white pearl face plate (I have no idea what the correct name is… I’m not a musician), but overall, it looks fantastic. I really hope you get the chance, or time, to do the neck too. I can see that it would need a significant amount of precision, but having seen what you can do on the body, I have no doubt you could do it. Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays and I hope you have a great New Year. All the best to you and your family.
People, be careful when using a jigsaw to make a thick cut like this. It may look like you’re cutting square up top but it may be undercutting underneath. A dark veneer between the body and the top would make it pop better.
No music, no talking, pure bliss
The best kind of bliss.
Cool man, great finish. Make a saxophone next!
Thanks, Blake. I only know Carless Whisper on sax 🤷🏼♂️
Turned out great 🙌🏼
Thanks!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks a million I learned a lot. Feeling more confident I can do my own build now. Cheers!
This is a stunner man!
Thanks, Coffey! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Thanks man! Steel wool is for sure the secret!
Could be one of your best videos yet, well done!

That is just beautiful! Please do a video and explain the finishing process because it looks awesome.
Thanks so much! I’ll think about a finishing video for sure.
Awesome build and video man! The finish came out amazing and gotta love that DMB bass line at the end!
Thanks, Ethan! I though Crush was a perfect way to describe how I like the base 🤣
@@KeyWoodworks Haha yep, that's pretty perfect!
Great work on the finish!
That turned out great! Well worth the effort. Thanks for sharing.

Nice job .. that stain job you did is awesome...
The bass looks amazing and what a great way to end it by listening to you play it. Also, love all the flannels!
Thanks man! You can tell each day by the flannel 🤣
@@KeyWoodworks That's how I could tell how long you left each coat of finish on. 🤣
Haha there were three days not shown
Gorgeous bass 🤩
Dude that is flipping awesome. Best build to date.... Keep it up man..
Thanks man! I appreciate it!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Wow that came out fantastic. Really like the color and how you used the dowels to align the veneer, genius!
Thanks! I appreciate it! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I don’t play guitar but there sure is something mesmerizing about a guitar build.
Thanks for watching 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Very nice build
Thanks! It plays great
Came out amazing! Took me by surprise that there was not voice over on it. I really enjoyed this and 21mins was quick. I wanted to watch more. 🤙🏼
Thanks so much! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Man that’s nice. I love a tele headstock on a p bass too! Not my taste in finish but I love the shape on the body, more blocky like a telecaster.
Looks awesome dude, nice job!
Thanks for watching!
Love it! Way better than Keith ever could’ve done…
Hahaha I’ll let him know. Thanks!

Thanks! I think I paid $99 for that Chinese SX bass. Not a bad bass at all.
Very nice 🎉. Congratulations.
amazing

Haha I bet it! It was an emotional rollercoaster for me too!
Where is the comfort belly cut and arm contour????
The color came out awesome on top man. Good build!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Another great video, that bass looks great! I wish you didn't have to cover it up with the pickgaurd.
Thanks! I went back and forth about the pickguard, but I like the classic look.
Slappin’ da bass mon
Yaw mon
Moment of terror....15:40. Please God, let this chisel be straight and true!
Wot?? No contours?? I like it.Just like the 60s slab body P-bass.
Exactly what I was going for, even the ‘51 neck. Just modern electronics and split coils.

That scratch at 20:00, yukk!
Fender neck or Sx neck :o
Fender neck 🤘🏻

21:00 that finish scatch 😢
Is that swamp ash with flame maple top
For sure it is!
Do you make custom basses for people?
I can!
@@KeyWoodworks I sent you an email hopefully you reply
Late to the game but this is rad
No slant on the upper body for the right wrist/arm or stomach cutaway for comfort !? It's literally just a slab
early p basses were just a slab. maybe he could have put a vintage p bass pick up in it.
bro totally scuffed the finish when he put those strings on
No Treble!!!!
All about dat bass!
better than buying a mustang for any reason
This guy likes doing extra work… 🤦♂️
