I found out the other day a family member of mine also fell for it.
I do One Piece-themed Gaming content.. I LOVE ONE PIECE AS MUCH AS YOU GUYS!

I don't know if that's a joke or not but that's clearly different... he didn't drink that for the sake of drinking... if you knew anything about Japanese culture, where 99% of manga is based on, sake is a drink to forge blood bonds or familial bonds.

Man this bring up memories the early phase of one piece, nothing can beat an old man telling their stories about their past meeting great people and past down to the future king that will change the world.
I kind of liked how they used to portray Gold D Roger. How they never showed his face and revealed so little about him. Made him so much more of a legend.

Felt like cheating when we finally saw the Oden flashback, seeing all the GOATS in such a little span after knowing nothing for like 15 years

To be completely fair, Law, Vergo and Doffy are ridiculously OP. I'm thinking Vergo was Doffy's second strongest, then Diamante. I will say though, Smoker's Sea Stone Jutte has become a complete joke lol. And Haki has pretty much made Smoker completely inferior to Luffy.
If i had to take a guess, i would even go as far as saying that Pica could defeat Vergo.
Juanma Jg Doflamingo is an Emperor though.

Not just that. The art fits the Manga the most. And those camera angles are not to be underestimated either... MAN, why did they have to change it. It looks too clean now, same issue with Dragon Ball super.
yea this animation is rough but captures the moments spectacularly. Its what got me into the series in the first place. the new animation is missing that

Amarion Dilworth well his point is that it mightve been part of the original story, but it was scrapped in the manga because of time issues. The original storyline and the manga do not have to be the same thing, the manga is simply the final released version of the storyline. After all, the manga does not appear out of nowhere

Roger's execution scene in the same arc was filler as well
there was a lot of the loguetown arc that oda wanted to make canon but did not have time because he wanted the crew to enter the grand line by chapter 100.

He looks so old while others after 20 years is still badass.
I miss the times luffy's voice actress spoke more quietly, a little more rushed, and had this hopeful tone that made you feel excited too

+Monkey D Luffy Wow you're fast, I'm still at episode 60. I remember back when I first watched it I reached impel down on my second week
now THAT was fast! How did you manage that? Skipped sleep and everything else or skipped some not-so-interesting episodes? I'm on my second round and just caught up with todays episode and I'm sooooo sad. Maybe will start with the third round. Though it's crazy - there's so many animes out there and I'm watching OP over again, kinda feels like waste of time but then again - it doesn't :D
I'm sure manga is great, but I really would like to watch anime because I like the.. well, moving pictures :D plus it'll take forever for anime to catch up because the manga is so far ahead and I really would like to stay as exited watching the anime as I first was, not knowing anything (so - I wouldn't want spoilers though I've gotten plenty already). Maybe I'll start with the manga from the beginning. Damn it! I like binge-watching and I absolutely loved it when I was at ep no 60 for the first time, hooked AF and knew there was like 600 more episodes :) :) :) BLISS. But then I caught up twice - when the first landed in Dressrosa and now. I feel as if I've been robbed :D I tried watching Gintama because everybody's praising it but there's this general guy who is voiced by the same guy who does Zoro so I couldn't listen to that :D switched bach to OP. Oh the problems of being a fan... Long live Oda!

Damn, I miss early One Piece. Such simplicity, yet, at the same time, complexity of the characters. You don't see that in the anime this days

Smoker had mad respect for Roger. He found someone like him, in Luffy.
Is this scene 'filler'? I love it so much. Everything about the animation, Luffy's character and Smoker is perfect. Smoker's this marine but he was inspired by seeing Gold Roger at a young age, and even marks the anniversary each year by coming to some shady old pirate-bar, drinking and reminiscing about the Pirate King. I still like One Piece, but imo it has lost some of these more 'grounded' scenes. Barring the inexplicable ability to fire a flintlock multiple times without reloading, One Piece used to be a semi-realistic historical era of pirates, before robots and lazers and submarines became the norm for this show. Scenes like this capture that aesthetic perfectly.

I see where you’re coming from, but you have to remember the One Piece world is actually vastly different, and only seemed similar to historic pirates at first.
Submarines were used during the last legs of the pirate age
Come on, it was never THAT realistic. The main character is a rubber man! The first antagonist was a like 7ft tall woman who swung a club around that probably weighed a couple hundred pounds. One Piece has always been just plain goofy and has never taken itself too seriously.
@@bruhvenant What he means it that it was realistic within its own anime limits. Now literally everything you see is 100% bullshit. It used to have a bit of respect for what went in and if it was too much.
Remember Kids, Garp refused to become an admiral because that would make the celestial dragons have direct control over him.
Even though this was filler, this is one of my personal favorite moments in the anime

Honestly me too, I was so convinced they were related that when it was announced that Luffy wasn’t Roger’s son, but instead Dragon’s, for like a solid hundred or so episodes I refused to accept it lol. Too many connections between the two of them that I still go and wonder if they actually are blood related somehow

The fact that Luffy doesn't drink and said it with such conviction surprised me lol, I can't tell if it's in or out of character, that's what makes him interesting

He must have said something more to make the old man see Roger. Every pirate said they wanted to be the pirate king but only Luffy resembles Roger to everyone who heard him. I want to hear what they heard.

Watched the anime first and gotta say its moments like these that I liked about it especially the way they flushed out their characters (as well as non canon side stories) and the instrumentals in the background is probs something I will always listen to and never forget
