What I love about this home is that it is richly filled with books, music, art and ideas but is not ‘curated’, not manicured. It is therefore alive like a forest, not controlled like a formal garden.
This is a timeless home. I do believe that everything about it has been there since 47 years ago. If things are well made from the start, they will serve their owner well
I love how the house interior and exterior are as they are in the architect's daily life -- not tidied up for show. An inspiring and heartwarming glimpse into the architect's wide-ranging interests and aesthetic taste.
For some reason this house just screams nostalgia, it reminds me of my childhood and countryside, I miss those days. And I have to mention this again, your choice of music is just spectacular, it's so beautiful and soothing.
thank you for the great musics and pictures... i learn a lot how to live and change my life living style..i'm a Korean...so many things on the clips are so familiar but unique with me
Love the feel of this house: protective (by so much concrete), and yet the interior is so warm and comforting (wood), and how each room linked so well with the next (I really like the cosy room connection to the terrace!).
Fascinating home. I love the raw concrete walls. Will they keep the home cool in the humid summer? The wonderful collection of memorabilia around the home is amazing. So many things to see that one doesn't know where to look first. This home is luxurious yet humble and cozy. The tree is magnificent.
Thanks for the comment. About 50 years ago, when this house was built, there were no regulations in place regarding the insulation of houses in Japan, so the comfort level of this house in mid-summer and mid-winter is inferior to that of more recent houses. However, the reinforced concrete first floor with a wooden second floor reduces heat radiation from the roof on the first floor. By opening the windows to obtain ventilation, the comfort level of the first floor can be maintained to a certain extent. Also, at the time of construction, in this area of Japan, summers were not as hot as we have been in recent years.

This house feels like a really cozy HOME. I love the wabi sabi feel and the French elements. Goals!
This house has soul. It is warm, welcoming, a cocoon. I love the decor. Thanks for the tour.

Mr. Abe's house is my dream style house, feel so chill and cozy in an organic way 😎
This house it’s stunning. Love its feeling of nostalgia and peacefulness. The music choices fit to perfection the house too. Superb job ❤️❤️
I believe this house comes out in a Korean movie set in Japan called Butterfly Sleep. It is filmed quite beautifully in the film !
Beautiful house!

not all dark home is bad. Darkness has its own beauty. Refer to < 陰翳礼讃> aka
It's a dark house, outside light was not properly captured
There are light and dark places in this house. The changes and contrasts in brightness felt comfortable to me.I was impressed.
