      It figured if you like drag racing what I assume to be mustangs you must know a thing or 2 about dragging slow anchors lol. I'm just teasing. It's not about what you drive but rather how you drive it. Keep it rubber side down and be safe.

      these anchor and bouy combinations are used to hold the large tanker or tender ships close to oil rig you see in the background. I think they are doing maintenance checks and re setting the anchor spot.

    4 point anchoring system for a semi submersible oil rig. 4 of these keep the rig on exact gps location by tightening/loosening each anchor cable.

    • @raphael6896
      @raphael6896 2 года назад

      only 4 point anchoring system? that's a bit weak, with my little experience of 15 years, I have always seen minimum 8 anchors for the drilling-rigs or boat hotel. It is quite common to break the anchor steel cable, it often happens.

    • @rockydubois2418
      @rockydubois2418 2 года назад

      @@raphael6896 if thats true then you know the original term for it was exactly what I said. 4 point anchoring. Then they got fancy and called it geo positioning. Don’t matter how many anchors you use because it refers to points on the rig or vessel and cardinal directions.

    Go git ‘em Diamond offshore 👍🏻 and there are 8 of these that keep the rig on location most of the time ,but if they start slipping and they add piggy backs that number can and will go up and also during hurricane season they sometimes will piggy back some of them , also this will go on for 3 days to a week according to how many anchor boats they have ,and there is very little sleep that happens during this time ,yes they get paid well for there time , but they earn every dime of it , yes I retired after 37 years offshore 32 with DODI , do I regret my time on the rigs ? Hell no , would I do it again ? Hell no .

    This has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with any merchant ship. But it does have absolutely everything to do when anchoring different types of platforms in different oil patches. I shall take the liberty to list them because your garden variety individual doesn’t have a clue, about anything that pertains to the oil-patch. On-land or, Offshore. Jack-up-Rigs. Semi-Submersibles-Rigs. Fixed Platforms. Spar-Platforms. Tension-Leg-Platforms.

      Merchants are from Venice. Anchor cables do not care who paid all these bills. And from which bloody poor country the seamen come, this time. Anchors are anchors.

    • @voornaam3191
      @voornaam3191 2 года назад

      Who cares? The engineers building it. For the rest of the world it is just a cork on top a lot of bloody dirty oil. We don't want oil anymore. Burning it is stupid. At least produce things like composite materials from that oil. You can recycle those like forever. Refine and burn oil, then it is gone forever, that is not exactly smart. Ever thought of it that way? All the work done on platforms is completely wasted some time later, when the fuel is burnt. What an insult to the workers. Worthless job, in the end.
