The BGM / Joni Mitchell mix in the car was a little dissonant 😂 Discipline is such a biggie! I feel like you might enjoy this quote from James Hollis, whose books on finding meaning in the second half of life I find very compelling: "Each morning the twin gremlins of fear and lethargy sit at the foot of our bed and smirk. Fear of further departure, fear of the unknown, fear of the challenge of largeness intimidates us back into our convenient rituals, conventional thinking, and familiar surroundings. To be recurrently intimidated by the task of life is a form of spiritual annihilation. On the other front, lethargy seduces us with sibilant whispers: kick back, chill out, numb out, take it easy for a while . . . sometimes for a long while, sometimes a lifetime, sometimes a spiritual oblivion. (As a friend advised me in Zurich, “When in doubt, administer chocolate.”) Yet the way forward threatens death-at the very least, the death of what has been familiar, the death of whomever we have been."
that supplement ..., having to pinch your nose hehe. though if it helps that's good. I am too lazy to look up words when I read :/ I should do it to improve my vocab.
BTW, I'm not convinced that magisterial physiognomy means much at all! Magisterial has to do with authority and physiognomy with facial expression. So I guess austere in appearance? But maybe deliberately anthropomorphic? Gubernatorial is to do with governing. Romance/Latin roots (governmental in Spanish is gubernamental). I struggle to read that style of writing. Kudos to you! P.S. I love your vlogs. I don't really 'do' vlogs, but I enjoy your stream-of-consciousness style (I came here orginally for your 'INFP rant'). I think I identify with a lot of what you say when you're spitballing and just figuring stuff out. Definitely agree with our best ideas coming from those in-between spaces. The threshold between sleep and wakefulness can be a pretty rich source of creativity. Probably because our egos are caught napping 😄
@@itskylielockheart I've worked as a translator these past, what, 15 years? I often don't chime in with these observations in case I come across as an asshole 😬
