I think you are Shadowbanned. Like many sites I go onto the likes are 240 plus 1 or 2. The read amount varies by the thousands dependant on podcaster popularity, AND that increases considerably whilst view. I did resubscribe too. I have to do that a lot recently as I'm aware of typical output frequency. I think you'll go for a test drive and find gears smooth & easy and reinforcing a nice new van for springtime, you've enough to deal with as regards to adjusting site stop overs, different wildcamp opportunities and of course headheight, biggest drawback to where you pop into villages exhibitions etc. I am also impressed by Consort. Love and best wishes
Hi carol and ken another excellent video my opinion on consort campers is they look very professional I think the 6m van would be the better choice and I'd chose the fiat manual as the 2.3 multi jet engine is much better than the 2.2 in the Peugeot boxer I also think because you are driving a manual van at the moment it probably won't be an issue on the new van hope this helps you in your final decision and we wish you all the best in which ever choice you make good look😊
Wait for the automatic. You’re going to keep this a while so worth waiting for perfection. We would suggest the 5.4m. No point getting what you don’t need. Parking is more difficult as you get longer and it will add weight too, which reduces MPG. You have everything you need in the 5.4m. Fab video. Thanks for creating and sharing. ❤
Hi Carol & Ken, I must say I was impressed with Consort Motorhomes and I think the 6 metre van would make far more sense for you both as with only a difference in length of only 13 inches is minimal, but this would make the sleeping arrangements far more versatile especially for Ken who likes his little afternoon naps. Regards
I was so impressed by Scot and Consort Motors. It's great to see someone so dedicated to their products and reminds me why independent businesses are usually so good at what they do. A brilliantly upbeat video for a gloomy Saturday morning, too.
100% I would go for the 6m. The difference in length may be slight but it would make a big difference internally. That bit of extra length on the beds would be worth it to me. I would prefer an automatic but it's not a deal breaker. I'd be happy with a manual and get out there and start the adventures. I'd also go for the thermal blinds. They probably wouldn't take much longer than the Remis blinds. I'd rather spend a minute longer putting them on and be warm!
I had all the same reservations when I got my 6m van. The first thing I fitted was a rear view camera! I have found that difficulties when parking are more often around height and width limitations, rather than length, but there are odd occasions where you just have to go elsewhere. It's part of the trade off for having a bit of extra space. Looking forward to seeing what you go for...
We have a 6.6mtr converted 17 seater minibus and I don't regret it, we can have 2 singles or a double, at our age 68 and up it's easier using singles as it's easier getting to the loo at night, and double up if your cold. We are 9ft high so a problem sometimes, but you can usually find somewhere to park , yes it can take planning, we often find a traffic warden and they have been a tremendous help as they know what's on thier patch, and you can Google the area to look around, space wins out every time. Enjoy whatever you get. 😊
Defo the longer van.How often is the extra length really an issue in relation to the benefit in use all the time.I've had 8.5m Motorhomes now a shorter A class and rarely had any issues that could not have been overcome.
Very nice vans! Personally I would wait for the automatic and go for the 6m as I really feel that little bit of extra space would make all the difference. Good luck with whatever you choose. ❤
I think they would regret not choosing an automatic 6-metre when they were already in the process of buying a bigger van to enjoy life with for years. They also have a camper van as it is, so I think the waiting time would be less of an issue than having a 5.4 meter manual and constantly be irritated about the gearing and lack of options in the sofa/bed area.
I’d go for the longer van so you can stretch out and have a daytime nap without any faff. Being able to get up and leave your partner sleeping is a big plus as well as less hassle making up the beds. Coupled with 2 Duvalays you’d have beds made up in seconds. You also have the option of sleeping the other way around, personally I wouldn’t like to sleep with my head by the rear doors. Looking forward to seeing what you went for!
Hi Ken and Carol. The way that Christine and I look at it (as caravanners), the extra space in the longer van is an advantage ALL of the time, but a disadvange only on odd occasions, so that's the way we would go. Btw, we are still subscribed.
Hi guys, Great video, here’s my thoughts for what it’s worth. I would without a shadow of a doubt wait for the automatic and go with the larger van. The benefits by far outweigh the negatives, harder to manoeuvre yes (slightly), harder to park yes (slighlty) but the benefits are massive, what a stunning looking vehicle and don’t underestimate the difference of being able to lay lengthways…..getting up in the night to pee etc!!!! 😂 Either way you’ll be getting a great van! Kind regards Tony
Hi Carol & Ken… As I’ve mentioned previously our van is 6.3 long. In over years we have never entertained 6 people but do find that little extra bit of room suits us, besides when you have a Labrador who demands more space than us, 6 people will always take up less room anyway. But as you know well, every van is down to personal choice and I think I know which van you will go for, but I’ll keep my powder dry until we all find out. And finally my own personal thoughts are to just get on with your lives …. Best wishes M 👍🍻
Tough one for you guys, If Carol is doing a fair chunk of the driving then wait it out for the auto putting a time limit on this. Otherwise take the plunge now on a manual & I'm sure Carol will adapt or Ken can just do the vast majority of the driving ( as you seem to do anyway). After having waited so long & been let down already on the other van I will confidently predict that you'll go for the manual now. No time like the present! Good luck!
Very impressed with Consort. Love that they take such care and thought into their vans for the end user. They say bigger is better, so i reckon the 6m is best suited to you two lovely people - better for stretching out and seating 2, 4 or 6 people much more comfortably. Shame about the automatic issue, but having it now as opposed to waiting indefinitely is perhaps a worthy trade off. Good luck in whatever you decide.
I can understand your dilemma! I guess you will buy the shorter model. Personally I think they are both lovely. Carol has already signed on the dotted line, so delivery will take place soon! Oh such excitement, cannot wait to see your first adventure! 🎊 😊
Considering Ken’s back issues, I would lean towards the larger van giving him the ability to stretch out with more space. It also gives more space for entertaining. Can’t wait to see what you’ve decided.
I am so pleased for you both, it was clearly a personal decision for you and it will be interesting to see what you went for. The 5.4 would obviously be a little easier to drive and park in marked bays, but a 6m would give you just that bit more space and sleeping options. The 6m van isnt that much more difficult to drive and with a rear camera fitted, it will be fine. If it were me, id wait for an automatic, but it is your choice and if you decided on a manual, im sure it will be fine for Carol. The build quality looks very good and similar to IH, Vantage and Murvi, in comparison to the many iff the shelf companies. Like many other subscribers who enjoy your travels, the wait to find out your choice will keep us on tenterhooks. 😊
We have an IH van but was really impressed with Consort through your video. As for length go for the 6m, we have one and being able to stretch out in the afernoon and drift off, is bliss. Oh and thanks for another interesting video!
Hankering after the Reef myself, we have a select 122 at present, which is a similar layout. Being able to sleep lengthways in the van so we’re not climbing over each other in the night is a big deal. I hate driving automatics, so can’t comment on that, but driving a 6M van holds no fears after just a little practice. Happy new van, whichever you choose.
I was also happy to hear/see so early from you. In my opinion the choice is made by the sleeping space. I think that this is the most important thing. In the front you won‘t feel differences, maybe these few scaring minutes during parking because of the dimensions… but the relaxed and comfy 6-8 hours in the night would speak totally for the 6m dream. These are my thoughts. I hold my thumbs for your and your personal best fitting version. I‘m very excited to see the episode. Have a good time and thanks for all your content till now. Greetings from Germany, Martina.
IMO the only advantage of the 5.4m vehicle is that having a shorter wheelbase it is more manoeuvrable and easier to park, especially at roadside in towns. On the other hand, the 6m vehicle offers much more usable space inside. Sleeping across the van is not as comfortable as sleeping lengthways unless you are well under 6ft tall and the longer benches allow that daytime chaise-longe option. More usable space in the shower, more practical storage space. I live full time in a 6m van, I would struggle in a 5.4m!
I would go for the 6m van as I think you will regret it if you don’t, but it’s ultimately your decision, great videos, keep them coming, blessings Tony.
5.4 for me a solo 5' 2" woman and definitely the cab fitted blinds don't wait for automatic. 5.4 is big step up from little red camper. You don't entertain very often. You could leave bed set up and use cab seats during the day
Hi Ken and Carol We love our 6m Reef which we got three years ago and chose that model because we preferred the sleeping position, extra boot space, space for extra solar panels and fitted a larger fridge. Scot and Jane have build a great company ethos at Consort where every member of staff is invested in delivering quality, service and customer satisfaction. “Life is too short” 😊 so don’t wait for the Auto and go with your gut. Whichever van you choose, we know you won’t be disappointed.
Hi guys, we have an Auto and find it so much less tiring on long journeys. Whatever you choose we hope you enjoy many years of enjoyment with your new van and look forward to seeing videos of you making the most of it. Geoff & Christine
Excellent choice of van, and big welcome to the Consort family 🙂 As you know we have the Reef, the 6 metre one and we totally love it , Scot and his team are just brilliant and the build quality is just fantastic, as is the after sales service, your not just a number in a very long spreadsheet, you are part of the "family" . Lovely meeting you both at Consort last week and hopefully on our travels are paths will meet up again and have a Consort owners meeting 🙂 Take care both of you, Trev Debz and Tyler
It was so lovely watching you both get excited re the van, my husband and I took possession of our new motorhome and we made sure it had everything we wanted and I am so glad we did because once you receive it the excitement wears off and anything missing would become an irritant, you still have your little red camper keep living life to the full but get everything you want in your van, whatever happens have a lovely Xmas and great next year with lots of adventures xxx
Hi Carol & Ken, I've been away from your channels for a few months, it wasn't just you lovely people but I had a break from YT in general as we hit what was such a lovely and 'globally wamingly' extended summer right through to mid Oct. which was just perfect and allowed me to devote more time to walk our beautiful Kerry Beagles and Otter Hounds, such amazing breads. However, now winter has truly hit it's now time for some escapism again and who better than with my favourite travel couple . With regard to your pick of vehicle the Consort brand appears to be a lovely choice and beautifully made with some well thought-out additions which can only come, in my experience from people who have 'lived the life' so to speak. My advise to anyone who is in your position is get the best you can afford, no penny pinching what so ever this vehicle will become your home form home for prolonged periods of time, weeks or even months in some cases. So, for a few £k extra it will make all the difference from having an amazing time every day, regret and thinking if only!!!? I've done it when we bought our first caravan. It was small compact and easy to tow, but I grew to HATE it very much. The regret will set in very quickly if you make an emotional decision. For me it usually vtakes between 1 & 24 hrs untill I realise, oops! With regard to Consort the smaller on offer, 5m I think would make it much more suitable for access to the areas we like to get to, each to there own. Additionally, as long I can get a couple of our hounds and a terrier onboard, oh and hubby of course I'd be very 😊 As I said the 5m version looks just F.A.B. as long both front seats revolve, which would be perfect as you pointed out it would be a good place to sit, work, rest & play while a partner continues to top up on some Zzzz's. With regard to auto, or not to go auto? Over the years, along with my dad and brother we all loved automatics but sadly, other than with the exception of my American Chrysler Neon and version 2 for the odd ball and fantastic Smart Fortwo, both of which I loved and drove without a single gearbox issue for nearly 6yrs. Unfortunately, and sadly every other automatic I and my family have ever owned has presented as problematic, ranging from the odd 'cough' to catastrophic and total failure as happened with my beloved Citroën Berlingo (which we used for yrs as a micro camper with the Amdro camping insert). Regarding my Citroën the only warning we had was a flashing 'gearbox fault' light that came on and cleared within a couple of mins. during a journey over to England from here in Ireland. When I got to Penrith we had Cylus checked over by a Citroën dealer who advised he could be driven back to Ireland but get the issues looked at by my dealer on our return home, which we did. The repair estimate was for over €6,000! We had him looked by other Citroën dealers and a good independent garage but all said the same, very alarming and worrying diagnosis which resulted in the vehicle being scrapped!!!. So with that experience I would not be able to recommend a automatic gearbox to anyone if the vehicle is an important mode of transport within your family. It maybe that things have improved out of sight but auto boxes have left me the jitters, 😐 With regards the two of you lovely people I can't wait to see what you pick for your next adventures. PS. I started watching your adventures to the Outer Hebrides as a result of a YT algorithm suggestion. You uploaded this series during the travel restrictions of 2020-2022. It probably wouldn't have been something I'd have watched because of your caravan, but that's my issue for being overly picky, and my loss if I'd not have taken a look. The whole series is just lovely and it's so nice to see just how much the two of you love each other. I've left a quite lengthy comment on the vlog Part 29 of the series 😊.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and share your experiences. We will be revealing which van we have chosen at 6pm tonight UK time 🙂 So glad you have enjoyed watching our travels. Thank you for supporting our channel ❤️
I'd go for the longer van and wait for the automatic. As you say, the conversion time is reasonably quick. Get the van you really want. I'm not sure I've heard many people say they wish they had less room in their van.
Great to be able to walk around the factory and see the build process. Personally I’d go for the 6m manual and as you said ‘get on with life’ after all, ‘Life is to short’ 😜
I agree with a number of comments, the 6m seems to be the one. I'll miss the videos of your adventures with the little red camper though. Consort seem to be a good choice.
My vote is for the 6m, just that extra bit of space, enjoyment and convenience. As for the automatic v manual - I’d probably prefer the automatic to reduce the workload when driving, but if it’s an infinite wait time, I’d do the manual and move on. Great video and Consort really seems like an excellent company. I want one for the USA!
The quality of those vans looked second to none. I’m sure you will make the right choice. If it were me and my hubby we would probably go for the 5.4 and it would be manual. I know Carol is keen on automatic so maybe you should wait as you have waited a while so far. Whatever you have decided, I will miss the little red van!
I built my own van exactly as what your looking at with rear bench seats facing I eventually left it made up as a full bed it was a 6 mtr van two front swivels and a bench seat behind the drivers seat I found this to be a very versatile set up . Go with your heart x 👍💫
Thanks for the vid, a very good open and honest view from all aspects. Your needs through to Consorts' approach. No hiding. Just what is needed. Thankyou
The consort vans are brilliant, I would have the bigger more room to stretch out as Carol showed . And definitely an automatic 👍🏼 longer wait but worth it , you both have waited long time and as you both use van a lot it’s worth getting exactly what you want . Both of you deserve now a bit more comfort. Fingers crossed for you Carol and Ken .
I have an auto , it’s great when you’re trying to check the sat nav and move your van around, it’s one less thing to think about, and I would go 5.4 . I think you may be impatient and go big , but it’s not a wrong decision,it’s your decision you have so much experience good luck 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
Love your blog. 6 metre, fully automatic, with solar panels and reversing camera. We live in NZ are fully SC and freedom camp all the time in our Merzedes Sprinter. Downside - passing between shower room and galley. 36 pounds - WOW.
Either van would be luxury in comparison to the little red camper but as you are getting older and Kens problematic back I would go for the 6 m giving better layout for night time toilet visits without disturbing each other. I broke my back and purchased a fixed bed caravan just so I could have a lie down as required, Auto would be my choice but not a deal breaker.
6M van for me.. sleeping long ways makes a big comfort difference and if Scott's design are like they used to be, you can miss out the last cushion at the feet end to easily swing your legs out of the bed but still have that double bed feel at the top end. ❤ great videos.. also I prefer the fold up sink for more hip room whilst showering 😁
Personally I would go for the 6mtr van that gives some options on the sleeping arrangements, like having 2 singles for ease of getting out of bed, I also feel that transverse beds in a panel van conversion can be restrictive if you are quite tall. We have had transverse double over a garage, and a french bed layout, but we now have 2 singles over a garage with the option of making it a huge double, this is by far our favourite layout. I also had the dilemma of wanting the auto gearbox when we bought our van in 2021 but again the waiting time then was at least 6 months, so went for the manual that was in stock.
This will be your home from home and comfort is the big factor for me. To be able to stretch out and have a nap on the lounge area without messing about pull out bed is worth its weight in gold. I'd go for the 6m manual and head off on your maiden voyage. Best wishes and you will make the right decision for you. Happy camping.
Blimey what a decision to make. Factory looks Impressive with staff knowing what there doing. Length longer only makes difference in supermarkets. I have 6.5m van very rarely failed to find a parking space, if you go at quiet times like first thing or after 6pm no problem.Auto or manual , is Carol going to drive if manual, got to keep her happy.
I/we would go for the 6 mtr. And wait for the automatic. Just this year I am building a new (old) campervan. Went from citroen 5.4 mtr. manual to Ducato Maxi 6 mtr. automatic. What an upgrade!!
I’m so happy for you that a decision was made and you’ll be revealing all shortly. You’re right that it’s time to just get on with living the van life. Waiting for who knows how long for a van is time wasted. Congrats to you both. Mary
We have had a 5.4m van: easy to park but the layout did not suit us. That was followed by a 6m van with seats that were long enough to lie on after a long walk. Finally we upgraded to an automatic still 6m with end lounge. Perfect albeit sometimes challenging in some car parks. It is a personal choice.
The various vans are all beautiful, so many choices! Ken is certainly being very agreeable with Scot the salesman, he keeps saying yah… a lot. I think he’s sold. 😊
The truth is I knew most things about those vans before we got anywhere near Leeds. Scot kept ticking off the list and I was verbally doing the same. As long as the build quality matched what we had seen online and other owners told us we had mentally already bought 😁👍
At the end of the day your comfort and pleasure matters more than anything . As you say life is too short and we have to go and live it . Waiting around will cause more stress than a Manuel gearbox.
I’d go for the 6m. Being able to have 2 single beds to be able to get to the loo easily is brill. 60cm difference is nothing in the long term! Go for manual- you could be dead or I’ll before a automatic turns up! Live life now… it’s short! Looking forward to seeing what you choose. Oooh the suspense…
Hi Carol and Ken, I have a 5.4m van with a u shaped rear lounge and don't regret that choice in the slightest. You can still have a daytime nap across the back of the van, there is still more than enough storage for 2 travelers and you can sit 4 around the table quite easily. But the really big advantage is the parking in marked bays, we often go away with friends in a bigger van. We can park in almost any bay with a very small overhang but our friends in a 6m van being 60cm or around 24 inches longer just can't. They have to go to the back of the car park to find 2 bays one in front of the other or a corner bay or find a bay where they can overhang at the back onto a grass verge. That's just my personal preference, have you thought about hiring a ready built 5.4m camper and a 6m camper for a couple of days so you can work out what works best for you.
I think the shorter wheelbase as it would be easier for Carol along with an auto box. Shorter wheelbase, I think would be easier for parking and wild camping. Don't get a manual just because of waiting time for the auto. Better to wait for perfection than to not and regret it. Love you guys ❤
We went from a VW California to a 6 metre Crafter van conversion. We think you will go for the 5.4 metre but we think your should go with the 6 metre option as you will benefit from the extra length to be honest.
I would go with the longer van, I would also wait for an automatic. If its not too late and possible I would have the ceiling carpeted, it insulates, cuts out rain noise, help retain heat in winter and keeps it cooler in summer. Good luck. 🎉🎉
Congratulations to you both. This is an amazing step and we don’t think you will ever look back. Having on board facilities is a game changer 🙂 Enjoy and have safe travels 🚐💙 Trev n Sue
Carol and Ken, for comfort of driving i would wait for the automatic. I would also go for the 6M body, just a little extra space but it could be a deal make. Diesel heater is a great choice, so to with the thermal blinds, shame that you cant fit both. Finaly, if Carol is not happy driving a manual, this thoughs most driving on you Ken, you have waited a year posibly another 6 months wont hurt, tick all the boxes with no compromises
6m automatic 😊 ok you may have to wait but it will be worth it as it will be perfect! I think if you bought the smaller van you’d always be wishing you had bought bigger and I think manual may be hard work for Carol. You still have your lovely red van for the time being to use while waiting. I think it will be lovely for you both. I will finally say this my husband and I literally flip a coin or put on paper and then pick out of a hat ie manual or automatic? We have done this for along time when we can’t quite make that decision. 😊 look forward to what you both decide. As ever thankyou.
Was delighted to see this episode uploaded so early today 👍 I can definitely see why you are going with Consort, as the build quality and attention to detail looks great. A tough decision as to which model to go with. Personally I would wait for the Fiat automatic, to make driving easier for Carol - but as you have already waited a year I can understand if you don't want any further lengthy delays. As to the length, it looks like you can both still nap comfortably across the back of the shorter model, and the reduced length would make parking easier. However 'comfortable' space looks to be an important factor with Ken's bad back moving forward. Anyway I am looking forward to seeing what model you finally decided to go with, and hope that Consort have been able to do some deal for you - as you will be great ambassadors for their brand... UPDATE: Almost forgot to ask the obvious question - can they do a van in RED ? 😂
Pleased you have decided on the van you want. I understand the dilema regarding the automatic gearbox. My dealer (in Portugal) said we would receive our new motorhome with the new Fiat 9 speed automatic gearbox. Started life as a 9 speed but finished up being a 6 speed manual!!! As I didn't want to wait another year, or more, I accepted the 6 speed manual and, to be honest, now that I am used to it, it is a pleasure to drive. Safe travels
Most people are saying the 6m but having watched all your vids we know you like to spend so much time on the road, and seeing you looking for park ups, our money is on you taking the shorter wheelbase.
Dont get carried away with the exciting experience of buying a new van.. you said it...99% of the time 2 people are in the van ! You are used to driving geared vehicles !! Large vans can be a pain to find parking spaces and height restrictions can be a pain too... Great video but i would go for the manual 5.4 . Good luck
We are a couple of years out from making a similar decision. Personally we would hold on for the automatic and go for the 6.4M so that you can have the option of single beds. We also prefer the usability of the Remis blinds and then to have an external insulated screen for those rare winter outings.
We would go for the shorter one, just for ease of parking We have a 6m self converted fiat now and parking can be a pain. Whatever you have decided im sure you will be very happy x
We have a 6.3m Ducato Hymer Yellowstone Can’t recommend the 9 speed auto enough 👍 we have averaged just over 30mpg in the 12000 miles we have covered in the last 2 years. With the auto you also get the 140bhp as a minimum and this combination seems fine fully loaded. Length of van is a very personal choice, given bed, lounge, fridge and bathroom preferences Hopefully this helps 👍
Well............ I'm hoping you went for the six metre version as you have the advantage of more sleeping variations ( two singles, a double, take a crafty nap across the back on an afternoon. Although the lounge on our Duetto was amidships we were able to do that with the LWB Transit and when I used it solo I was glad of that. Also in the hight of Summer when my wife was still alive the two singles were cooler than a double. On the transmission front, there is always the possibility of aftermarket "semi-automatic with a clutch operated by a button on the gearstick. So you grab the stick, push the button while changing gear and release. I had a big 4WD that did both and found that very good. Ohh, I really hope you get what you want this time and hopefully not much of a wait. Got to say, that's one of the most versatile layouts I've seen and am once again, looking forward to finding out what variant you went with. This Bruin is very jealous. 🐻😁
We picked up our Nova (now named "Noreen"!) 7 weeks ago. It's fab 😊 We went for the 5.4m so we can park it standard car spaces and it isn't too intrusive on our driveway.
I ordered an Auto Trail 540SE at the NEC February 2023 with a 1 year wait. I have a CamperKing which is my daily driver and wanted more room especially on wet days and a toilet.I think that for me the 540 will be an ideal size for parking etc.
6m van for me as a 6 footer. I can’t sleep across the van, as not enough room. A manual wouldn’t bother me, as my current van is manual. Those Consort vans look good value for money. Most vans are around £70-80,000 new.
Whatever you have chosen I’m sure you’ll be very happy with it. Only you know what works for you as it’s such a personal decision. We are large motorhome owners as we like tons of space but make many compromises on where we can do with it. I think you are opposite to this. There’s a van for us all and I hope you get lots of enjoyment with whatever you have chosen
You make such lovely and interesting videos always with a great choice of music. You can be trusted to make the right decision I think. 😂 I was very impressed with the build quality of the Consort Vans, a good choice I think.
Hi both, regarding whether you go with the manual or wait for an automatic I think your answer is in your own channel name “Life is too Short”. You have already waited a year and who can say how much longer you will wait for an automatic. Personally I would choose the manual so as not to let more time pass me by. As for the layout I think both are acceptable to your needs but given that you like an afternoon snooze 💤 the longer bed configuration may be more suited to the way you travel. Good luck with your choice ❤

@@Blackhammer123 thanks for that 🙂🙏
Wait for the automatic.

Lot more room in that 6m lounge. We do like to be able to camp all year round 👍
I feel the same about the doors. 👍
@@LifeistooshortCKI never think about the doors, once i am inside and locked up. Not a problem !
I sleep with my head at the rear door to be further from the fridge hum. 👌
@@gaeldejonge I hope you reverse into your parking space! I don’t like the idea of an impact from the rear or the draft.
Hi Ken and Carol. The way that Christine and I look at it (as caravanners), the extra space in the longer van is an advantage ALL of the time, but a disadvange only on odd occasions, so that's the way we would go. Btw, we are still subscribed.
Thanks for checking 🙂👍
Hi guys,
Great video, here’s my thoughts for what it’s worth.
Either way you’ll be getting a great van!
Kind regards
Tony
Thanks Tony 🙂
Good luck in whatever you decide.
we love our Consort Reef, just brilliant vans and after sales service is fanatstic.
I can understand your dilemma! I guess you will buy the shorter model. Personally I think they are both lovely. Carol has already signed on the dotted line, so delivery will take place soon! Oh such excitement, cannot wait to see your first adventure! 🎊 😊
A superb van, definitely automatic and 5.4. It has everything you seem to need. Thank you for sharing. 🧡
Our pleasure! Thanks for your suggestion 👍
Brilliant video well shot and vans look great
I would go for the smaller one easier to park
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
We have an IH van but was really impressed with Consort through your video. As for length go for the 6m, we have one and being able to stretch out in the afernoon and drift off, is bliss.
Oh and thanks for another interesting video!
Without a doubt 6m gives more options for sleeping 👍
Hankering after the Reef myself, we have a select 122 at present, which is a similar layout. Being able to sleep lengthways in the van so we’re not climbing over each other in the night is a big deal. I hate driving automatics, so can’t comment on that, but driving a 6M van holds no fears after just a little practice. Happy new van, whichever you choose.
Valid points 👍
I was also happy to hear/see so early from you. In my opinion the choice is made by the sleeping space. I think that this is the most important thing. In the front you won‘t feel differences, maybe these few scaring minutes during parking because of the dimensions… but the relaxed and comfy 6-8 hours in the night would speak totally for the 6m dream. These are my thoughts. I hold my thumbs for your and your personal best fitting version. I‘m very excited to see the episode. Have a good time and thanks for all your content till now. Greetings from Germany, Martina.
Good points. We don’t like being kept hanging on hence the quick release 👍
You could leave bed set up and use cab seats during the day
Good suggestion 🙂
Hi Ken and Carol
We love our 6m Reef which we got three years ago and chose that model because we preferred the sleeping position, extra boot space, space for extra solar panels and fitted a larger fridge.
Scot and Jane have build a great company ethos at Consort where every member of staff is invested in delivering quality, service and customer satisfaction.
“Life is too short” 😊 so don’t wait for the Auto and go with your gut. Whichever van you choose, we know you won’t be disappointed.
Glad to hear you love your Reef after three years. That’s a good recommendation for Consort Motorhomes.
Hi guys, we have an Auto and find it so much less tiring on long journeys. Whatever you choose we hope you enjoy many years of enjoyment with your new van and look forward to seeing videos of you making the most of it. Geoff & Christine
Hi think i would wait get exactly what you want and the new auto boxes are so smooth
We will be showing meeting you in a future video. We were watching your channel before we went up. Great to finally meet you 👍
It was so lovely watching you both get excited re the van, my husband and I took possession of our new motorhome and we made sure it had everything we wanted and I am so glad we did because once you receive it the excitement wears off and anything missing would become an irritant, you still have your little red camper keep living life to the full but get everything you want in your van, whatever happens have a lovely Xmas and great next year with lots of adventures xxx
You have a lovely Christmas as well. We will certainly be adding what we want 😁👍
It maybe that things have improved out of sight but auto boxes have left me the jitters, 😐
With regards the two of you lovely people I can't wait to see what you pick for your next adventures.
That’s a valid point 🙂
Great to be able to walk around the factory and see the build process. Personally I’d go for the 6m manual and as you said ‘get on with life’ after all, ‘Life is to short’ 😜
Love the Consort.
100% go with 6m manual and move on with your life, because "Life is to Short" to wait around. 😊
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
The quality of those vans looked second to none. I’m sure you will make the right choice. If it were me and my hubby we would probably go for the 5.4 and it would be manual. I know Carol is keen on automatic so maybe you should wait as you have waited a while so far. Whatever you have decided, I will miss the little red van!
Thanks. So love watching your channel, can’t wait to see what you decided on. 😊
Thanks so much for the SuperThanks ❤️
I am delighted that you have your new van. Every Blesssing, Fr D.
I built my own van exactly as what your looking at with rear bench seats facing I eventually left it made up as a full bed it was a 6 mtr van two front swivels and a bench seat behind the drivers seat I found this to be a very versatile set up . Go with your heart x 👍💫
Good to know 👍
Thanks for the vid, a very good open and honest view from all aspects.
Thanks for the suggestion 🙂👍
These are great looking vans! Congratulations 👏 … whichever one you choose, it’s a win, win situation! (I bet you went for the longer one though).
Hi Carol and Ken, personally I'd wait for the automatic transmission. Great content, thanks for sharing.
I would wait for an automatic 6 meter van, and have the extra comfort. Sure you will make the right decision for you.
I broke my back and purchased a fixed bed caravan just so I could have a lie down as required,
Auto would be my choice but not a deal breaker.
Good points 👍
Good points 🙂
5.4 - Ducato - manual is what we would go for from the options presented... 🎉
I/we would go for the 6 mtr. And wait for the automatic.
Just this year I am building a new (old) campervan.
Went from citroen 5.4 mtr. manual to Ducato Maxi 6 mtr. automatic.
What an upgrade!!
Just go for it ! Whatever it is - you will make it work for you.
We will 👍
Very nice it is too. I completely understand yur dilema re. the length. I would go for the 5.4 m version. I'm impressed with the workmanship.
6mt auto we have sprinter with sprintomatic fantastic
Love the Consort van's and love the reef! I'm very tempted myself!! :) Hope you get one!
Oh, so exciting! I can’t wait to see what you have chosen. I wish Consort were available in the US!
Great video. 5.4m for me mainly due to it being easier to park. But I would prefer a bit more space. I can see your dilemma.
I can’t wait to see where your new van will take you and Carol. Congratulations.
At the end of the day your comfort and pleasure matters more than anything . As you say life is too short and we have to go and live it . Waiting around will cause more stress than a Manuel gearbox.
Very interesting,my preference would be to go for the best quality you can afford, the 6m one would be my choice ,and a manual gearbox!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. We just hired a 5.4m panel van to see what it was like to drive and it helped us in our decision 🙂
I’ve got the blinds yet I also use thermal inserts they fit in perfectly.
We have a 6m van and have never had a problem parking. So nice to have extra space inside.
Well you have been enjoying them for quite some time so we thought we would join the club 😁👍
Hopefully all will be revealed tonight if the upload works. All valid points though 😁👍
When you can’t decide pick one randomly and see how you feel. Your gut will soon tell you the truth 😁👍
Was delighted to see this episode uploaded so early today 👍
I can definitely see why you are going with Consort, as the build quality and attention to detail looks great.
They only do white vans 🚐😀
@@LifeistooshortCK You could always get a red wrap with the white wave to match the little red camper.
Jon in rural BC, Canada
@@JonTanOsb 🚗🙂👍
Pleased you have decided on the van you want. I understand the dilema regarding the automatic gearbox. My dealer (in Portugal) said we would receive our new motorhome with the new Fiat 9 speed automatic gearbox. Started life as a 9 speed but finished up being a 6 speed manual!!! As I didn't want to wait another year, or more, I accepted the 6 speed manual and, to be honest, now that I am used to it, it is a pleasure to drive.
Safe travels
The whole world has been waiting for products since the pandemic. 👍
They look awesome... I'd go for the longer and wait for the auto
Most people are saying the 6m but having watched all your vids we know you like to spend so much time on the road, and seeing you looking for park ups, our money is on you taking the shorter wheelbase.
Lets see if you keep your money 😁👍
6m I think. Look lovely.
Good luck
I flipped and flopped between the two for quite a while. 😁👍
What an impressive build quality… love the layouts… personally as I older I would wait for an automatic… so much easier on the old knees!!!
Without a doubt 👍
Brilliant 🙂🙂🙂. Wouldn’t dream of telling you what to go for but I wouldn’t want to have to wait for a van again! As you know ‘Life is too short’ x
So true!
Yeh!😅. Go for the longer van Ken and the auto.
Hi Carol and Ken. The large machine you saw on the A1 was a potato harvester.
Thanks. I like to know these things. I thought is was a road layer.
6m for me , choice of a double or two single beds. no climbing over each other to make a cuppa tea. Manual or Auto not a deal breaker for me.
We are a couple of years out from making a similar decision. Personally we would hold on for the automatic and go for the 6.4M so that you can have the option of single beds. We also prefer the usability of the Remis blinds and then to have an external insulated screen for those rare winter outings.
We would go for the shorter one, just for ease of parking
We have a 6m self converted fiat now and parking can be a pain.
Whatever you have decided im sure you will be very happy x
Great to see such a good recommendation for a Yorkshire firm!
We were very impressed. Thanks for watching 😀👍
We have a 6.3m Ducato Hymer Yellowstone
Can’t recommend the 9 speed auto enough 👍 we have averaged just over 30mpg in the 12000 miles we have covered in the last 2 years.
With the auto you also get the 140bhp as a minimum and this combination seems fine fully loaded.
Length of van is a very personal choice, given bed, lounge, fridge and bathroom preferences
Hopefully this helps 👍
Thanks for the info. Those mpg figures sound good 🙂👍
I would go for the extra space, for sure.
Well you like riding along with us so hopefully you will enjoy the fun. All good points 👍
We picked up our Nova (now named "Noreen"!) 7 weeks ago. It's fab 😊 We went for the 5.4m so we can park it standard car spaces and it isn't too intrusive on our driveway.
Glad you are enjoying your new Nova. Happy travels 🙂
Love that new van and the space.
Couldn’t agree more. Horses for courses and there is no such thing as the perfect van 😁👍
You make such lovely and interesting videos always with a great choice of music. You can be trusted to make the right decision I think. 😂 I was very impressed with the build quality of the Consort Vans, a good choice I think.
Thank you 🙏
New drinking game - take a drink every time Ken or Carol says yeah 😂
Hehe, just being a wind-up. Love your channel and content!
Love that! 😂
Very impressed with there campers. I liked the first one. 6m. Lovely lounge area.
We were very impressed with the spaciousness of the 6m Reef 🙂
Hi both, regarding whether you go with the manual or wait for an automatic I think your answer is in your own channel name “Life is too Short”. You have already waited a year and who can say how much longer you will wait for an automatic. Personally I would choose the manual so as not to let more time pass me by. As for the layout I think both are acceptable to your needs but given that you like an afternoon snooze 💤 the longer bed configuration may be more suited to the way you travel.
Good luck with your choice ❤
Difficult choices for sure 👍
