Brilliant video and congratulations on the new van. Ref the pans, I totally endorse your choice of Ingenio as the Rolls Royce solution; they’re brilliant and we use the 24cm sauté pan and lid for nearly everything - curries, chillis, bolognese, stir fry and cooked breakfast. While you’re looking for an interim set of pans, you could consider getting the Trangia 25 spirit (meths) burner, kettle and pan set. It takes up little space and you have an emergency spare stove and you can also use it for cooking sausages or making a brew when you’re having a picnic. You can also get a small gas burner that fits it if you don’t like using meths.

Yes, we’re enjoying the extra space and being able to stand up. Still fits in a standard parking bay and we have only come across one height barrier so far.
I totally understand re the tired feeling when you get a new van! We picked ours up this week and are knackered! Just the driving the handover and excitement but we also were mislead re our gas bottle so ran out of gas on valentines night when I was trying to cook a nice meal luckily another motorhome coupe came to our rescue and lent us an air fryer and their kettle! 😂❤😅 Hope the 12v prob went away ? 🎢
@@LifeistooshortCK our van has a refillable gasflo bottle with external port so fill at a petrol station pump with lpg and the gauge was difficult to read but 3 people at the dealer thought it was reading full (but it wasn’t ) there was a little gas in there initially as they had to test it using another cylinder so it ran out ! We now know the bottle only gets 80% full for safety so the gauge should be in the green (but never looks completely full and the switch valve also goes green which means we can connect another cylinder as back up ! We are thinking Calor propane cylinder though incase we can’t get lpg easily)
Nice van. We bought a few pans from a charity shop for peanuts while we made our mind up on what we wanted. Also, chili and pasta is known as chili Mac, very tasty. Enjoy your trips...
Hey Carol, Ken ! lovely video! and love the new van! I'm raving about the Consorts and We are currently having a new driveway put in! maybe a new van might be in the not so distant future! but anyway! just wanted to mention a little about condensation. As most of us tend to battle with this time and time! We were in Trago the other day and the other half came across some cloths! yes I know another "Cloth" you might think. But these were can detailing cloths! so generally they are used by people who wash cars and have to dry them bone dry before polishing etc, so I thought heck why not pick one up to try, to be honest I've tried all sorts of cloths in the past and they tend to just move the water around! well let me just mention just how good these are, they zap the water straight off the windows and they are bone dry! and they are easy to hang up in the bathroom to dry off. I must admit they are the best thing I have bought to remove condensation from the windows. And I have tried many things like hoovers and the like. Just thought I'd mention it. Happy vanning!
The bigger the van themore stuff you end up carting about, when I cleared my van I was shocked at the stuff that came out of the cupboards that I'd never used. My family are from York, so it was nice to see Gillygate again. I went there in my van many a time, so many memories. I bet you are wondering how you managed in little red now you have all that space!
Great video. I'm not a campervaner more a roof top tent but your tips are just as good, organisation in a small space the key. Looking forward to your travels in Europe
I love your van! I have a set of pans with removable handles and a glass lid. They used to be sold at all the camping shows but the smallholder retired and the pans disappeared! You can join the two shallow ones together to form an oven. They were very popular so May still be available second hand.
Hi Carole and Ken I have to say what a van! You join me today after retiring 15 years after the Job and it has been a very big Birthday. So many knocks the door and pressies. We are off to the Chichester Canal in the next few days and a game or two of Ten Pin bowling with all our family and friends . Regards Crawford
Congratulations again Carol and Ken😊👍.....a nice video as always it's a beautiful camper, it looks nice and it is so beautiful, lots of safe miles and great adventures for you together😉👍
Your new van really does look amazing and you two look right at home and very happy. I am very pleased for you both. I can't wait to see the adventures ahead and hopefully bump in to you on the road somewhere once we are back from New Zealand ....
Hi guys hope you're both keeping well? Just seen your latest vlog. Fully understand how you are both feeling about what goes where. We've removed a huge amount of stuff that simply wasn't being used and only added to the clutter. In terms of pots and pans Nicola bought a Tefal set that uses a removable handle. Great for storage. It has a wok too. We stopped any rattle by putting felt pan protectors between each pan. Works a treat. Stay safe and good luck in the Nova!! Sid and Nicola, Rugby
Great to see you are settling in to your new van, you already seem to have got comfortable. The layout suits you both well. I like the full length shelf behind you 👏👏
That shelf is the best feature of the van. There are lots of others but the rear lounge design means everyone gets a place to put a drink without using a table. 👍
Compliments and well done to both of you. I have found in the past, moving & removing stuff can take months, or forever, it is the nature of the beast and keeps you on your toes!! You are correct with the blinds on ceiling skylights of any sort, I never use the blind and have permanently altered the frame to have the insect screen as the cover, it does not rattle and keeps stray flyers outside. I have an earlier model Heki that has a permanent air vent open and safe from any driving rain, it is brilliant at stopping most if not all condensation, current and later models do NOT have this option, sadly. I have also had the joy of sourcing cutlery, crockery and pots & pans from op shops, as you travel. Provides great joy at any 'finds', good value, helping local charities and keep the modern crap from landfill. The Police had plastic plates, cups, mugs & cutlery, I now have china and *silverware (*8 place setting for NZD $6, from Hospice Shop)!! Happy travels in York. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
Hi Xavier. Can’t sleep tonight due to boy racers screaming around the roads near our wild camp spot. They are not doing us any harm though. We admire your style of re-using stuff from charity shops. Makes a lit of sense. I like the permanent venting in the new van and humidity levels are much lower because of it 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Thanks Ken, Sadly wherever you wild/freedom camp in the world these invasions appear. When being a volunteer Ranger for 'Dept Of Conservation' here, I have at times had to even call in local Police, from up to 40mins+ drive away, to resolve some situations (which ultimately here could see any of their gear, bikes & campervans, seized, for a time or permanently). These situations can happen anywhere, you either put in earplugs/headphones with a book, go for a short walk, or even move as a last resort. I personally think that one of the worst pollutants globally these days is NOISE and there are no easy resolution/s. Whatever happens, take care & stay safe! ❤❤
What a great van nice to seeyou both sat in back together and isn't standing up great once we had a high top van we couldn't go back now everything will find its place eventually so much more storage too happy travels all the best donny
I'm glad you went for the 5.4m van it seems just right, still fits in parking spots and gives you enough space, with a cosy feel. I love the layout with that rear lounge, it looks really comfy.
Hi Chris we are loving it so far. We are glad we went 5.4m and its paid off several times already. 👍. We do see though why lots of people were voting 6m 😁👍
Super, we have the medium sized Outwell Feast set of 3 non-stick pans (includes a pan and frying pan with removable handles, and a casserole pan with twin handles. Non stick. They pack inside each other. We also bought a silicone lid for the small pan and a light weight steamer pan that fits on top of either the pan or the casserole. We experienced this set when we hired a California Ocean in September '21 and bought our own in September '22😊. You'll be experts soon, you look very comfortable, enjoy 😊 xx❤
Nice to know how you got on you two . Mine's a bit longer (L4) and a self build but we like the space and I'm sure you're going to enjoy it . Looking forward to seeing you'' re adventures .
Yes we know what you mean. It’s a very different driving experience though as I am sure you have found also. Now we have to think a lot more about routes and roads.
Oh I have enjoyed watching you settling in. It’s a lovely van, spacious and really good sound acoustics. Your voices in the cab are loud and clear. Hearing the two of you inter reacting reminded me of my husband and I. You get along so well, and are best friends. ❤️you are going to LOVE having a shower in the hot summer weather! Tell me do you know whether you can use an air fryer on your system? I guess it’s all about how many Watt there is , it probably would cost a fortune in electricity. Im trying out the carnivore diet, went well for 2 weeks, but I’m tired of washing up!😉
Hi Marion. I tried that diet and it worked pretty well for me. We didn’t opt for an inverter although we can have one fitted if we want. I use a small portable 300 watt one occasionally but it would not run an air fryer. We have one at home and they are good. We have a conventional oven though.
@@LifeistooshortCK I have an oven but seldom use it now with Vern gone. Have become a very lazy eater, so yes carnivore suits me fine. I lost 20 kg over Vern’s illness and death, and I’m now stuck on 80kg, need to lose another 10.
Wow just brilliant. Your new van is amazing, looks so comfortable and luxurious. You also have a great taste in wine with Jam Shed, such a lovely wine 🍷
You look comfy and relaxed already 😊 Moving to a bigger van it does take time to get your stuff in cupboards and places that's right for you. You'll probably find a few months down the line when you think you've got it nailed, you'll have a light bulb moment and a reshuffle. That's perfectly normal if you're wondering! A slight pang when I heard Ken almost say Little Red but the delight in your face Carol as you used your new van made it fleeting. Sorry you're having teething trouble with 12v. I hope it's a quick fix for you. Just a tip, not preaching to you on parking but make sure your wheels are straight when parked for shopping etc. I was hit whilst parked in my 4x4 and because my wheel was turned out slightly, it caused structural damage that may have been avoided otherwise. Looking forward to the name reveal, thanks for the upload 😀 Take care 🙂
Nice van guys glad your enjoying it, love your simple pop up roof lights not the wind up type we have in ours, more to go wrong, we have a insulated screen cover for ours and it stops a fair bit of the condensation, we had a sofla cover for our pilote which virtually stopped it altogether, and after using the van we always put a crystal de humidifier in the van to keep moisture down. … Pete 🇫🇷
Simple is best for sure. We have been surprised at how low the humidity level can get in the new van. 40% is too low at times. It’s very well ventilated without draughts. They have done a good job. Will make a note on Sofla covers. Thanks 👍
Great video Ken, the new van is a wowser…. Don’t forget to mind your cargo shorts in the summer on that handbrake, I nearly became a ‘they’ after catching my shorts on it! Looks lovely, we miss our PVC van but have different adventures now, glad to see you both looking well , Dick B
Great to see you both in the new van, hope you’ll enjoy it as much as you did the little red. Great choice on the pans, hope you’ll find them. We bought them without lids and bought a set of sillicon lids at Ikea. Found they store a bit more easy 😉 Hope you didn’t get rid of the Ridgemonkey, because that’s a brilliant pan too 👍🏻
Greetings from Aus. Some think security can be overrated but we experienced first hand how invaluable a GPS tracker is, when our little teardrop was stolen from our secure apartment carpark whilst we were overseas. I’m sure Ken will agree that we were lucky that criminals are dumb. They used their own car and took the van to their residence. Made the police’s job much easier! It was recovered less than 24 hrs after it disappeared. Sadly they were rough with the van and caused some damage, but that’s what insurance is for, I suppose. We are looking forward to the return of our little blue VanGo 😊
Looks like you're having fun! Strange electrical issue is hopefully a one-off. On the pans front, we bought the Tower Freedom set (removable handles etc), much cheaper than the Tefal Ingenico and seem very well made. An external thermal screen cover would also eliminate your windscreen condensation completely. Not so good if you're mostly wild camping and want the option of a swift departure without having to exit the van but great on sites.
Shame you couldn’t get on Rowntree Park. It is quite prone to flooding. My daughter lives quite near that Go Outdoors and it has had the closing down signs on for well over a year. One last thing. York folk apparently pronounce Gillygate as if the first syllable is Jill. It was new to us as well.
I’ve just read my comment again. The first sentence doesn’t sound quite right. What I meant to say is that Rowntree Park is a really nice site, very convenient for York, but it often gets flooded, and it was a shame you couldn’t stay there because of the flooding.
I have a Transit custom camper with little or no condensation, blinds all closed and leave front windows down around an inch. The wind deflectors allow this all leave the vents open in the pop top.
@@LifeistooshortCK Hi we just got the cheapest I’m sure they were from Asda they stack up nice. We had a boat and used them in there. I pot boiling for a complete dinner. 👍🏻
Looks very cosy! If you have a good outside Screen cover you'll never get any condensation! We don't! I wouldn't though use it parked in the street use interior ones!
We would love to use one but we wild camp far more than using sites so it would just get in the way. Bit like the thermal blinds we got for the new van 👍
I wouldn't be surprised if you suffered from agoraphobia in that new van! I noticed one of you is reading Lessons In Chemistry. The Apple TV series of that is really worth watching if you get the chance. Beautifully made and acted.
CONGRATULATIONS on your new van. It's beautiful and I hope it serves you both well! May I suggest you carry a spray bottle with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water to spray the water spigots you use on your travels? You may (or may not) be SHOCKED at how people use (contaminate) them. 🤢 Safe travels!!
I brought a heat diffuser to place on the gas hob to cut and spread the heat a bit more. Also works well with the ridge monkey. Brought it off Amazon. Get the one without the handle and is perfectly flat.
Glad your loving the van, they are so comfortable are n't they 🙂 When the boiler is on the power goes of you get that message, just restart it and all is fine, happened a few times to us, we got a bit worried, but all works fine. Debz said ( although you have probably got sorted now) to get Tefal pans, thats what we have and they work brilliant. The Heki keeps Debz awake when its windy, told by a few people to stuff a towel in there, thats supposed to work. Nice mats in the cab as well. All the best Trev and Debz and Tyler x x
Ours is misbehaving so we will need to pop back and have it checked. We just leave the blind open a bit and it’s quiet. 👍 The bathroom is vented as well 👍
Welcome to York, Beechwood Grove just up the road from us, you could have parked at ours for free. Go Outdoors is moving out of town in the near future to the old John Lewis store. Just to be pedantic - Gillygate is pronounced Jillygate. Hope you enjoyed your stay. Lovely van.
Definitely. There are always teething problems in our experience. Stay close to the dealer and pop back to get them sorted. We are still near them now 😁👍
Love your new van, it seems really nice! Then, come back to Norway and North Norway, you haven't been there jet. Actually there is a town in North Norway that is The European Capital of Culture this year, the town is called Bodø and is the first European Capital of Culture town above the Arctic Circle. Come and see the Northern lights and the Midnight Sun.
This is all very posh and you two definitely deserve all the luxuries the new van provides, well done.
Yes we are super posh now 😁👍

But these were can detailing cloths! so generally they are used by people who wash cars and have to dry them bone dry before polishing etc, so I thought heck why not pick one up to try, to be honest I've tried all sorts of cloths in the past and they tend to just move the water around! well let me just mention just how good these are, they zap the water straight off the windows and they are bone dry! and they are easy to hang up in the bathroom to dry off. I must admit they are the best thing I have bought to remove condensation from the windows. And I have tried many things like hoovers and the like. Just thought I'd mention it. Happy vanning!
Thanks for the tip. We will look out for them 🙂👍
The bigger the van themore stuff you end up carting about, when I cleared my van I was shocked at the stuff that came out of the cupboards that I'd never used.
My family are from York, so it was nice to see Gillygate again. I went there in my van many a time, so many memories.
I bet you are wondering how you managed in little red now you have all that space!
As soon as we get home a load of stuff is being left at home 👍
Great video. I'm not a campervaner more a roof top tent but your tips are just as good, organisation in a small space the key. Looking forward to your travels in Europe
Awesome, thank you! Safe travels 🙂
I love your van! I have a set of pans with removable handles and a glass lid. They used to be sold at all the camping shows but the smallholder retired and the pans disappeared! You can join the two shallow ones together to form an oven. They were very popular so May still be available second hand.
I have remembered they are called Double Skillets and I think are still available from a new supplier called the double Skillet company.
Have a wonderful celebration and happy birthday 😁👍. Keep drawing the pension 👍
Glad to hear that the long term plan is to get ingenio pans. I was shouting at the screen, they are brilliant...with lids yes
Congratulations again Carol and Ken😊👍.....a nice video as always it's a beautiful camper, it looks nice and it is so beautiful, lots of safe miles and great adventures for you together😉👍
Thanks so much
Your new van really does look amazing and you two look right at home and very happy. I am very pleased for you both. I can't wait to see the adventures ahead and hopefully bump in to you on the road somewhere once we are back from New Zealand ....
Say hello if you see us and enjoy NZ 👍
Hi guys hope you're both keeping well? Just seen your latest vlog. Fully understand how you are both feeling about what goes where. We've removed a huge amount of stuff that simply wasn't being used and only added to the clutter. In terms of pots and pans Nicola bought a Tefal set that uses a removable handle. Great for storage. It has a wok too. We stopped any rattle by putting felt pan protectors between each pan. Works a treat. Stay safe and good luck in the Nova!! Sid and Nicola, Rugby
Cheers 👍
Great to see you are settling in to your new van, you already seem to have got comfortable. The layout suits you both well. I like the full length shelf behind you 👏👏
That shelf is the best feature of the van. There are lots of others but the rear lounge design means everyone gets a place to put a drink without using a table. 👍
So happy for you folks, thanks for bringing us along on your breaking in journey. BTW another great video.
Cheers 👍
Iam so jealous, your new van is so perfect !!!! 👍 cozy for for 2. Congratulations 🍾🎉🎈🎊 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🏴🏴👍👍👍
Good to see you enjoying the space 😃
Hi, lovely van. Always takes time to sort out till you’ve got it the way that is right for you. Can’t wait to hear the new van name. Safe travels ❤
So good to see you in the new van - looks lovely!
Thanks guys will be paying a visit there 😊
Looks like a nice van , I hope you enjoy it , safe travels.
It was still nice thanks
What a great van nice to seeyou both sat in back together and isn't standing up great once we had a high top van we couldn't go back now everything will find its place eventually so much more storage too happy travels all the best donny
Can’t argue with that but surprised how easy it is to lose stuff 😁👍
Thanks for the recommendation
Congratulations on your new wheels enjoy the extra space
happy for you
Nice to know how you got on you two . Mine's a bit longer (L4) and a self build but we like the space and I'm sure you're going to enjoy it . Looking forward to seeing you'' re adventures .
Your van looks very comfortable looking forward to seeing your ongoing progress cheers 🍻
Thanks 👍
Enjoy being able to stand up and have a good old stretch, I know we are.
Yes we know what you mean. It’s a very different driving experience though as I am sure you have found also. Now we have to think a lot more about routes and roads.
Love the van, we have had out new one just over a year and are still rearranging cupboards 😂 looking forward to your new adventures ❤
That will probably be us in a year’s time ☺️
Oh I have enjoyed watching you settling in.
@@LifeistooshortCK I also have a 300 W one, it’s permanently hooked up to my WiFi and charger
@@LifeistooshortCK I have an oven but seldom use it now with Vern gone. Have become a very lazy eater, so yes carnivore suits me fine. I lost 20 kg over Vern’s illness and death, and I’m now stuck on 80kg, need to lose another 10.
@@marionjohansson4235 you have done really well ❤️
@@LifeistooshortCK thank you
Your pasta looked lovely, give it time and you will have it all organised , safe travels.
Wow just brilliant. Your new van is amazing, looks so comfortable and luxurious. You also have a great taste in wine with Jam Shed, such a lovely wine 🍷
We love it 😁👍
You look comfy and relaxed already 😊 Moving to a bigger van it does take time to get your stuff in cupboards and places that's right for you.
A very important tip with the wheels 👍
🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the warning 👍
Great to see you both in the new van, hope you’ll enjoy it as much as you did the little red. Great choice on the pans, hope you’ll find them. We bought them without lids and bought a set of sillicon lids at Ikea. Found they store a bit more easy 😉 Hope you didn’t get rid of the Ridgemonkey, because that’s a brilliant pan too 👍🏻
Thanks for the tip about Silicone lids 👍 We have the Ridgemonkey with us but in over 3 weeks it has not been used at all. Bit of a shocker 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK LOL that is a shocker 😳 I adore that pan 😂
Love knaresbourgh and York xxxxxxx becky xxxxxx
Hello you two, looks very cosy and warm. That shower is wauw. Till the next one, tata.
What luxery for you both ,enjoy 😊
Greetings from Aus. Some think security can be overrated but we experienced first hand how invaluable a GPS tracker is, when our little teardrop was stolen from our secure apartment carpark whilst we were overseas.
I’m sure Ken will agree that we were lucky that criminals are dumb. They used their own car and took the van to their residence. Made the police’s job much easier! It was recovered less than 24 hrs after it disappeared.
Sadly they were rough with the van and caused some damage, but that’s what insurance is for, I suppose.
We are looking forward to the return of our little blue VanGo 😊
Here in the UK now they won’t insure you without the tracker. It’s a good service and we like that we get a text message the second it moves.
Might get an external cover but only for colder climes on campsites. Thanks for mentioning those pans we will have a look.
Thanks for all the info. English pronunciation can be tricky 😁
I’ve just read my comment again. The first sentence doesn’t sound quite right. What I meant to say is that Rowntree Park is a really nice site, very convenient for York, but it often gets flooded, and it was a shame you couldn’t stay there because of the flooding.
We knew what you meant 🙂👍
I have a Transit custom camper with little or no condensation, blinds all closed and leave front windows down around an inch. The wind deflectors allow this all leave the vents open in the pop top.
We need to get some wind deflectors for ours. I think it would work a treat as the condensation is low.
Seeing the damp you have around the front single glaze windows, I think that the outside silver blinds help with cutting that down.
The outside thermal cab blinds would certainly cut down the condensation 👍
Like your new van very much. Enjoy it.
Hi Larry. Glad you like it. Hope that treatment is not too rough ❤️
@@LifeistooshortCK So far so good. Thanks.
Best thing we brought for our van was steaming saucepans on top of each other best thing for saving gas and space great van very cosy xx
What make did you go with Wendy ?
Haha. Carol enjoyed reading Lessons in Chemistry. Didn’t know it was on Apple TV so will check it out, thanks 👍
Yes, good idea. You are right about that 🙂👍
I brought a heat diffuser to place on the gas hob to cut and spread the heat a bit more. Also works well with the ridge monkey. Brought it off Amazon. Get the one without the handle and is perfectly flat.
Was looking at kettles with them the other day. Didn’t think about a stand alone one 👍
Lovely van.
Cheers. Parking at yours would have been a bonus and we could have split the exhorbitant CAMC fees 😁👍
A shake down trip is always worthwhile.
Definitely. There are always teething problems in our experience. Stay close to the dealer and pop back to get them sorted. We are still near them now 😁👍
I've got a new van too so I'd have been interested in the packing and sorting of cupboards!
We go into more depth in the van tour video which will probably come after the next one. It’s filmed and ready. 👍
You guys look very comfy in "panda" and definitely much easier to use the hob and sink 🙂🙂🙂🙂
I am sure we will be back at some point 😁👍
Great episode ❤
