Mamamoo is with RBW (Rainbow Bridge World). Well, at least in their 7 yrs of career. Now, only three of them renewed after their contract expired (Hwasa, Moonbyul & Solar). While Wheein did not renew with their label, she signed an agreement to continue working with the group until 2023. By 2023, all of them will have to make another decision to continue as a group. So currently, they are still together.
BTW, the song was meant to be released as a surprise as part of their anniversary. The song is about them, their journey and where they are now.
Mamamoo will have an online concert this 28th of August!

Mamamoo is coming back for you, they dropped a teaser poster announcing their comeback with the 12th mini-album titled 'MIC ON’ on Oct 11 ,they will be promoting on music shows and many other ways as OT4. They are also preparing for Domestic and Overseas performance as well.

Solar does cut right into you. It's like she's pure electricity and her voice bypasses skin and bone and muscle and goes straight for your nervous system. The way they start this song is like four elemental forces of nature - Hwasa's visceral earth, Wheein's breathy air, Solar's spiritual fire and by the time they get to Moonbyul's liquid flow I'm a puddle of tears.
Aretha is also someone whose voice seems hot-wired to your soul. Tho they've talked about and covered many singers who influenced them they never mention Aretha and I think it's because her vocal timbre is so different from MMM's voices. Hwasa is the closest but I never felt she tried to emulate Aretha. On my dream album of covers where MMM pays tribute to the great singers of the past they'd rock Rock Steady.

I love and hate this song for bursting my heart into pure anxiety and sadness thinking that Wheein would not work with Mamamoo anymore. I love them so much ;-;

I feel the same way about Solar's voice that could strike my heart directly even without knowing the meaning of the songs. It is pure, strong, and steady while beautiful and warm. This live you watched is good but i feel like the rooftop live version they did was way better if you can find it they were on a roof top of one of the musicshows it was amazing.. definitely the best vocals in kpop.. just my opinion.. not bashing on other groups..
