I remember getting pokèrus before a shiny multiple times when playing on emulator, I play through multiple times doing different challenges.
I got Pokerus 3 times before finding my first shiny. Without trading since I played on Black. I even took a photo of the last time I got it, and just realized recently how rare it was.
I have had pokerus once and was confused. I have never seen a random shiny, I also didn't touch ultra sun cause I already had sun

Hearing gen 5 referred to as "the older games" hurts my heart. It's true but I hate it.
Fun fact: If you get Pokerus in a gen 3 game where the internal battery have run dry or been affected by the berry glitch, then the Pokerus never goes away, as in it never gets cured. However, you don't gain the boosted stats either.

I’m pretty damn sure you get the stat boost in emerald with no internal battery
All Pokémon that have and had Pokérus will have the EV boost effect. Pokémon that are cured cannot pass the virus but they will still benefit from the EV boost, which is good for me because I actually went into my save file and found my variant of Pokérus is a one-day infection so it burns out very quickly.

The fact I got Pokerus almost immediately after starting Brilliant Diamond but have never seen a shiny in-game is hilarious to me.
If not mistaken, BdSp actually has broken shiny odds, so you'll find a shiny very quickly in no time if you try to hunt for it

As someone who owns a Shiny Crobat with Pokérus on SoulSilver, I must say I probably used all of my luck on it
I remember playing Saphire and being told my pokemon had Pokerus. The way they described it made it sound like it was a bad thing. I got worried so I started a new game. Years later, not only was it actually a good thing, but also rare.

When I lost to Totem Lurantis in Ultra Moon, my playthrough team got PokeRus, and I still have a Grovyle to pass the virus around!

@@tydshiin5783- I can't speak for Ultra Moon, but the gems where I had it - 4 and 5 - would only allows Pokerus to cure if the Pokemon was in your party. Boxed Pokemon did not advance the "Cure Date" marker and thus could pass it around forever.
The common practice was to have your immediate team spread Pokerus to each other, then have a box of multiple "spreaders" for when needed in the future.
When I started playing Ultra Moon, one of my first Pokemon I caught (a Pikipeck named Hubert) got Pokerus and spread it around. Unfortunately I didn't realize he did and accidentally cured it before I put an infected Pokemon in storage.
Which sucks because I only had two of my permanent members of my team on me at the time.
When i played pokemon Y i had some pokemon that had pokerus and i noticed it. I never knew about it before so i was confused and looked it up. I spread it to the pokemon i wanted it to have and a few flabebe to keep in storage in case i wanted to infect any other pokemon. Super cool
I had Pokérus running rampant through my party/box like a decade ago and it stayed for so long without me knowing what it is. I never really acknowledged it and thought it was a weird sub-thing like markings.
I wish that Pokérus was in Scarlet and Violet.

I've gotten Pokérus multiple times. It is exciting when you aren't expecting it, especially back in the day when little was known about it. I remember looking in my handbooks for GSC and the only mention of it was in a small paragraph that just said that there's a chance your Pokémon could catch it and that it helps your Pokémon grow stronger and that was it.

@@mertensiam3384It still exists actually! You can transfer over pokemon from other games _(like swsh and older)_ to like legends arceus, but unfortunately it won't spread around
Also there's still code in game for scarlet/violet for pokerus, though you can never tell when a pokemon has it or not
Wait wait, so let me get this straight. This game outright refused to give me a Shiny Goomy in Gen 6. Yet it looked at my level 72 Zygarde after fighting a trainer and said “..Yeah we’ll give you Pokèrus which is an even more rare thing to occur.” This is an injustice on so many levels.

While Shinies have gotten a lot easier to obtain, granted they'd added some challenges. Like authentic sinistea or 3 segment and family dudunsparce and maushold.
The red gyarados is technically hard work for a shiny. Since you gotta get past the first 3-4 gyms (Idk if your gotta beat Marty first been awhile), meaning you have to put up with and win against Whitney's miltank first.
Idk why I see so many people cry about that Miltank. .. as far back as Silver and Crystal, I never had an issue with it... And I fought her countless times because my copy of Crystal version couldn't save for longer than an hour. Lmao. (I bought it second hand at a very cheap price obviously.)
I had to stock up on batteries to keep the game on while I wasn't even playing it. This is how I learned that Panasonic batteries are poopy batteries and Duracell were elite.
@@cooliusmaximus5802 Silver Whitney wasn’t too bad, definitely harder than Morty or Bugsy though. HGSS whitney is worse since Miltank has the Scrappy ability, meaning that you can’t avoid its STAB Stomp with a Ghost-type like Gastly. And that Stomp attack is scary regardless of generation. I pick Cyndaquil a lot, and I can tell you that if we ignore EVs, Miltank’s Stomp hits harder than a Gen 2 Quilava Flame Wheel and it’s faster than it too. I have rotten luck when it comes to flinches, misses, etc and Whitney’s Miltank loves to spam Stomp. It’s a recipe for disaster.

I won't forget how happy I was when my Pokémon caught Pokérus, back in Diamond. I made sure to keep a Pokémon with it in my PC so that I could easily spread it to as many of my Pokémon as I possibly can.
Man. I got 4 shiny male salandits… and if you thought that was bad enough, they ALL HAD MARKS.
I’ve always found underleveled evolved forms extremely interesting. First one that comes to mind personally is Jellicent you can find at level 5-20 in rippling water on Unova Route 18 (Frillish evolves at level 40). Found one at level 8 when I was a kid.

Now I may have boxes upon boxes of shinies, but I remember very clearly the four times I have seperately encountered Pokerus. My first time was on a random Electrike in Omega Ruby, my second was the Sudowoodo in Pokemon Crystal, the third was hatching the Eevee egg you received in Paniola Ranch in Ultra Sun, and the fourth was hatching Buneries for a Shiny Mega Lopunny. Not the shiny but a Pokerus was fun too!
Fun fact in one of the gen nine games, in booklet hill, the place where the water totem is, if you fish up a magikarp, it has a chance to call for help for a gyarados under level 20

I have two rare marked pokemon orginally caught in Shield, A dreadnaw and a Noivern. I’ve also gotten Pokérus in two games.
I got PokéRus on my team from a Ralts I caught in the Grand Underground in BDSP. In case you didn't know, the ability to spread Pokérus only lasts for a couple of days if you leave the infected Pokémon on your team. If all of the infected Pokémon lose the ability to infect others, you will have to try and find another one, so keep one of the infected Pokémon in the boxes, then it will retain the ability to spread the disease. Also, if a Pokémon has Pokerus, it retains the buffs, even after it wears off.

I remember actually getting pokerus on crystal as a kid.
Didn't realize how rare it was until several years later. Never got it again.
To get a shiny, rare mark, pokerus level 1 gyarados with perfect IVs and nature, if it took you 1 minute per encounter, it would take you 25 times the current age of the universe to find it.
You can force the Pokémon virus early on in the game.
If you go for the basic Pokémon outside the starting town, you can replicate battles move for move as the moveset is limited to one move.
I did this often in Emerald.

Thinking back is funny how in the old games Nurse Joy points out the pokerus on the team yet I never realized the importance or rarity of it until way later.
I remember getting Pokerus as a kid in Pokémon Silver. I think there was an in game explanation of what it was with someone calling you or something. But I had it for a short while before I had to go to the poke center to heal up.

Genuinely, while i was playing DP when it came out, i was doing leveling on the island with the Battle Tower with that huge patch of grass near a pokemon center and went to heal. I was mashing buttons and then suddenly realized Nurse Joy had a lot more text boxes than usual and stopped dead and had to go look it up. Not once did i encounter a shiny in that game, but somehow naturally encountered Pokerus.
A level 1 Gyarados in the Nature Preserve in B2W2 ... and a level 100 Magikarp in the Resort Area in Platinum. Now I've seen everything.
And the one time I was an oblivious child almost a decade ago, I got a Pokerus Latias on my blind normal playthrough of Alpha Sapphire.
In Pokémon X I went to the Pokémon center on my birthday and was informed by Nurse Joy that my Pokèmon had Pokèrus. I proceeded to show everyone at the daycare I was at at the time.

With SOS battles being introduced in Sun and Moon, Bagon has a 1% chance of calling a Salamence. I saw a guy on Reddit hunt for a shiny Salamence through this method, while killing off any shiny Bagon they encountered. In a SOS chain there's a 1 in 315 chance of finding a shiny Pokémon without the charm (which I believe he didn't have), meaning there is a 1 in 31,500 chance a shiny Salamence will appear in a Bagon SOS chain!

I'll never forget how when i was a kid i got pokerus on the base of mount silver while training to fight red in crystal
Besides the Boost to the shiny right in the mainline games, which when you consider it's open world and you have an opportunity to actually miss them now makes a lot of sense, Pokemon go has totally broken the shiny rate. Their Community days are often 1 in 10 or 1 in 25 chances, and some raid days even have 1 in 6 odds of shiny.
I got pokerus in a play through of Pokémon moon a few years ago. I went to the center to heal and the nurse was like “oh by the way, you have pokerus”. So my jaw actually physically dropped because this was like the only time I ever got it in over 15 years of pokemon, and probably several millions of wild battles.
I got 4 shinies in a span of an hour last night in Legends Arceus, so I can conclude, there are rarer things, like finding a baby zombie fully enchanted diamond armor riding a chicken
I remember 10 year old me playing soul silver when it came out and getting worried in Olivine city because nurse Joy told me my Pokémon had a virus. Then I learned they grew faster and it spread to all of my Pokemon. Even when transferred they still had it

Shiny+Rare mark+mini/jumbo are like, the most rare Pokémon. Fun fact: there is a mark called the ‘uncommon mark’ but it is one of the most comm marks!
I’ve gotten Pokerus before. Honestly, the fact that I have not found a naturally occurring shiny in any non open-world games yet was forgiven.
The only shiny Pokémon I ever had in the main games was a Bidoof. I heard somewhere that breeding with a shiny have your egg a decent chance of being a shiny Pokémon. It took probably hundreds of eevee and Vulpix eggs for me to give up. Bidoof got pretty strong in that daycare
I worked so hard for my shiny Pikachu, but I didn’t expect that it will be a bit darker of a shade, so I was pretty disappointed LMAO

My pokemon caught pokerus when I was little. (HGSS) I had no idea what was going on, and was so thrown when Nurse Joy told me my pokemon caught "a rare virus". The professor calls you shortly after and reassures you that while very rare, pokerus is nothing to worry about.

I own a shiny Ninetales I caught as a Vulpix in a Hidden Grotto in White 2 years ago. I moved it it all the way to Scarlet and Violet only to notice just how small it is. I took her to the size lady and turns out my Ninetales is the tiniest
I found an Ekans in USUM that had Pokerus, named him Lucky, and use him till this day to spread PokeRus. Since if you store the Pokémon in the Box, the Pokerus won’t fade.

One of the more fun events in my time of playing Pokemon was back in Black 2, where I was hunting for a good (right nature, above average IVs) Zubat for my story team. I finally got one that was to my standards, and it turned out to have PokeRus. I was quite pleased. The eventual Crobat was a fun addition to my team, and the PokeRus was super helpful for EV-training.
As a kid i remember finding my first shiny in pokemon gold... i panicked thinking my game glitched and immediately turned off the power.

You can get a lvl 1 gyaradoas in gen 1 games using the ditto glitch / trainer fly glitch after you do trainer fly you go to the east of fushia city where you can encounter a ditto now you want the ditto to transform into the Pokémon that has the same special stat as the index number of there Pokémon you want in this case that’ll be *22* we then growl at the transformed ditto 6 times and then kill the ditto then go back to where you performed the trainer fly glitch and you should encounter a lvl 1 gyarados. Using this glitch can also get you trade evo Pokémon like gengar , machamp , alakasm and even legendaries and also MEW and Missingno. And like some other weird glitch Pokémon (the Johto Pokémon that were never added)

When i was younger, i had many Pokémon with Pokerus and my siblings told me it was a dangerous disease that would spread and k*ll all my Pokémon, so I released at least 2 boxes of normal and shiny Pokémon
Fun fact: Been playing Pokemon again since about 3-4 years ago after a pretty long hiatus, so I was playing ORAS and USUM and BDSP and SwSh all at the same time for a while. Before I ever caught any shiny Pokemon I got SIX Pokemon with a Pokerus, three in SwSh, two in BDSP and one in ORAS

I remember when I first played Pokemon White 2 a year ago (I freaking love that game), I managed to capture Pokerus Purrloin very early in the game. I was very surprised when that happened
