That’s a tough one. His prime was insane but only lasted 4-5 years. Plus, you have to evaluate the last half of his career as a 1st baseman, which doesn’t help his case.
It’s not tough. He’s easily a hof he won 3 batting titles and has the highest single season BA for a catcher and an average above .300
@@kaetce If I had a HOF vote I would probably end up voting for Mauer, just because his peak was so dominant, and was great defensively during that time. But, where the problem lies with his case is that he was only a full time catcher for half of his career, which diminished his value as a player.
As maybe the last Ike Davis supporter and lover it is so sad to see no one talk about him anymore

Matt Adams is the most missed cause you have to type the whole name
The most demanding position in the sport on your knees all games catches pitches that can break a vein in your hand and easily slump you down at the plate. Mauer is Hall of Famer. Stop comparing catchers to players who can play with their hair. Nowadays, catcher is far less enduring in only one way you can't get trucked besides that its not easy and if you think it is I know you never caught and never evaluated by team doctors for your knees cause you blocked a ball wierdly. As a former kid who wanted to be the next Posada you can't tell me its easy when you block a ball in the dirt and snap your knees over and over the Knee savers dont save your knees. Mauer slowed down like many of the great catchers who didn't stick a syringe in their Legs. Sorry not Sorry we know Pudge did we know Piazza did they played longer cause thats what the steroids were used for. Love him but Posada played for a long time and was teammate with Arod and Cano...he mightve not but I still can imagine Arod sticking a syringe in Posada even if he didnt want to. Arod was a menace but besides Mauer is HOF
