If someone were to go a little overboard shopping for plants far away (hand raised) and you cannot possibly fit them under a plane seat, one could simply mail them home. (I would not want them in cargo, if that is even allowed.)
@@XPrincess30 No. You have to look up what the rules are for living things entering whatever country you are from. Many places have rules and they are all different. Try it without checking and complying and your package could be seized and destroyed. You will NOT be reimbursed for your loss.
I know your video was about domestic travel, but an addition would be to remember to find out about the import regulations when traveling internationally. You don't want to end up in a situation where you have bought something nice and pretty and not be allowed to bring it to the country. And those rules are super important anyway to keep invading species, pests and plant disease away from local plants.
I think that here, in Greece, we have extra strict import plant rules, most of the EU nurseries won't ship to Greece and the ones that do, usually send them barerooted. There are even a few tv ads regarding importing plants and how dangerous that is.
I was about to comment the same thing! Bringing plants from one country to another is either very difficult and requires planning an paperwork and permits, or is prohibited entirely. Don't go to a different country expecting to bring home plants with you!!!
Travel by train through Europe and buy plants if you live in Europe? I know with international flight its very strict. I have to agree with traveling flight internationally, almost everything is forbidden. I understand the hazard, because some insects eat entire crops of vegetables of that country, which cause economic value lose.

I bought about 20 plants while in Florida and traveled home to Washington state. My carry-on and personal bag were both filled. My state agricultural regulations require all plants coming into the state domestically have no soil and could not be from an outdoor nursery. So, all my plants came home in wet paper towels. All the plants did fine 🙂 and I saved hundreds because plants are cheaper in Florida. And TSA had no issues with the plants.

What about in Hawaii? My fiancé and I are going on our honeymoon next weekend and I know they have strict regulations about bringing plants in and out of the islands.
Madison Lucas Hey! I live in Hawaii, I know some but not a ton as I haven’t tried to take anything out of the state! On the plane they give you an agriculture questionnaire when entering into the state, you have to declare a whole variety of things. As for things leaving there are some things like plumerias that you can find packaged and ready to go. I’m not 100% sure but I think they are so cautious because of our various insects. Honestly if you are planning on buying plants you might want to ask TSA or take a look at the Hawai’i.gov link. Hi guys! I wonder if I can take a pot (or wrap the plants in paper and put them in carry on) with different types of succulents from California to Europe. Was anyone in this situation? I don't want to have problems at the airport...
Curious how this would work flying into California. When you drive here from Arizona, you are stopped at the border and questioned whether you have plants (or fruits and vegetables) in your car. Their concern is about bugs and disease affecting the agriculture in the state.
If someone were to go a little overboard shopping for plants far away (hand raised) and you cannot possibly fit them under a plane seat, one could simply mail them home. (I would not want them in cargo, if that is even allowed.)

@@kaitlinexl I tried to keep them alive as long as I could. I carried them in damp paper towels and placed them in water once we arrived. They didn't make it.
@@hez5160 oh noooo :( I want to do the same thing. Did you bring the wet paper towels through tsa? I'm iffy on if it would be considered a liquid. I don't know if I should take my plants out of their soil either
@@kaitlinexl I did. Damp paper towels in a ziplock. And I carried one potted plant through TSA. (I also had a dog with me so I was a weird sight at the airport)
Were you allowed personal item and your purse under seat in front of you?
thank you!!!
Love love love your videos! But sometimes I do wish there were some close ups of the plants. I realise this would mean more work (especially editing) but maybe sometimes?.. xx
Maria Sudermann thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. I will start including close up shots of the plants from here on out. ❤️
What about in Hawaii? My fiancé and I are going on our honeymoon next weekend and I know they have strict regulations about bringing plants in and out of the islands.

Hey!
Hope this helps!

I'll be travelling to Cyprus soon and I'm wondering whether I could bring some plants with me. If I do, this video will be superuseful!!
P.s. I checked and I probably can't without permit, phytosanitary and more paperwork, so boo... :/
I've never traveled with plants on a domestic flight in Mexico. Even though rules can be different US, how do you manage to pass through security checkpoints with no issues?
Bring my plants on my trip today 😬

Hi Harli, I would like to know if I can get my girlfriend some flowers, like a bouquet of flowers in a vase.
I mean you know like a bandle of roses just like that! Do you know is it's possible? Btw I am traveling to a foreign country.
Thank you very much.
I'm sorry I didn't explained myself very well.
You can buy baby trees that will grow big. Under 20in
Hi guys! I wonder if I can take a pot (or wrap the plants in paper and put them in carry on) with different types of succulents from California to Europe.
Was anyone in this situation? I don't want to have problems at the airport...
@harliG you packaged it better than hirts 😂
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Did you go to Tula when you went to NY?
No I didn't :(
Curious how this would work flying into California. When you drive here from Arizona, you are stopped at the border and questioned whether you have plants (or fruits and vegetables) in your car. Their concern is about bugs and disease affecting the agriculture in the state.
Bernie A. That’s actually a really good question! I’ll be heading to
California soon so maybe I will attempt it & see what happens!
