We had this same model of fan when I was a kid. It would have been the mid 1970's. This was cutting edge at the time. It was the first fan we had that didn't have metal blades.
That seems to be the US-market counterpart of my National F-40AAD! Same base shape, same "Sword" blade model (but different colour), same grille badge. But your unit has stiff bearings. Mine has a faster low and medium speed, and spin down takes a minute.
The bearings are clean and lubed. No noticeable friction. Spindown might have something to do with the grease I packed around the worm gear. I’ll have to give it more run time and see if it improves. I agree it should be much longer.
The blue bladed ones definitely get my attention.
