Waterparks Interview: 'Fandom' Album Reactions, Tour Plans & 'Friendly Reminder'

Following the release of their third album 'Fandom', we sat down with Awsten Knight, Otto Wood and Geoff Wigington, aka Waterparks, to talk about the reaction to the record, their upcoming tour plans, their new music video for 'Easy To Hate', how they wrote 'Group Chat' and what elements from abandoned album 'Friendly Reminder' made it onto the record.

i feel like it's been this way for awhile now tbh, but it's certainly getting worse and worse. i understand if they like all agreed to let Awsten do most of the talking but i would even like to see more one-on-one interviews with Otto or Geoff.

I thought about that when listening to fandom and got really curious about how involved Otto and Geoff really are with writing the music and other production stuff but from this interview it seems like Otto especially is really really excited about the album and you can tell from the live shows that Geoff loves the songs and always sings along. In terms of interviews, Geoff has always been pretty quiet and they both tend to push questions onto Awsten anyway. As long as they're happy, which it looks like they are, I think it's fine:)

I agree to an extent, and I really do feel like Geoff and Otto were totally gipped in the album (they hardly play at all and the lyrics are so awsten-centered) but it's always been this way in interviews and I don't think it's a problem. Awsten is clearly the most outgoing and passionate one, and I think Otto is just more reserved and doesn't want to talk as much. Same for Geoff. So awsten kind of takes over to fill the gaps and Otto and Geoff chime in when they feel comfortable and have something to say. The only times that I get mad in interviews is when they like only give awsten a mic, or all of the questions are *specifically* asked to awsten. Otherwise I think it's just their personalities

Okay I'm back. The end of telephone is "losing his mind, and I'm reaping all the benefits" To reap is to cut or gather. This basically means that "he" is going insane and this other man is basically using him. In group chat, Awsten sounds like a demon, and it sounds like two voices. I feel like this could be like how the man dealing the benefits of awsten going insane is almost a shadow of him.
