Govee just takes advantage of the technology that's available from so many other mfg.,.in China. They just market to the end user where the other mfgs mainly market to businesses. It only seems like Govee is offering new and or cutting end technology but actually, they jump on the bandwagon of any new and hot led or electronics that for into their lineup. That's why they had such a difficult time keeping up with supply and demand when they first introduced their permanent lights. Many other companies were already in the market but they focused on selling at ridiculous prices for purchasing and installing. Govee was smart. They sold directly to the user at a lower price point, even if they hadn't yet figured out how to do so with more than 150ft. Then when other companies started offering 25v They just figured it out and tahdah! Govee Pro lights. Only time will tell if their sticky tape will work to keep them in place as promised. Their curtain lights are following the same "copycat" process. Go on Amazon, Ali or even temu, and you'll see dozens of companies seeking addressable curtain lights for less than $50. The up side is that Govee curtains have 150 more leds which is about 10 more led strings than most but for $50 vs $120, I think the extra strings don't justify the added price. Anywho, Wled, Symphony, IDeal, etc all can provide the same type of control as Govee and for less. You just have to cross check Govee products. 9 out of 10, if Govee is offering something new, the technology has already been made available from someone else.
These lights are changing the way I think about what I use on stage as a Band Director in the public schools.... We put on so many different types of concerts with lots of different types of groups every year. A wall setup like this would be amazing for our technology based group as well as some of our concerts that feature live rock/country bands and solo singers. Of course in my own basement theater/studio you KNOW they would rock down there! Now... how do I convince my wife that I need three sets?
I wonder what it would look like if you covered the wall in a sheet of frosted plexiglass. It would diffuse everything so you wouldn't see individual LEDs, I bet it would look amazing!
What's the spacing situation like between each hanging strip? Is there a min/max for squishing them almost next to each other? I want to try and fit an LED curtain inside a 3ft wide by 6ft tall UV deck frame 🤔 This would be sick behind psychedelic deco
I mounted them on a 4'x6' aluminum picture frame from IKEA. I think you could get them squished together to 3' wide, but you would lose the square like distance between lights which might not work for some scenes.
I've thought about this before as a product that should exist, and i'm so glad Govee did too. They really delivered, and at a reasonable price as well!
apparently they have the "net lights" for horizontal designs, I have a similar question but reversed lol the net lights would actually fit my window if they could be used vertically but I haven't found an answer yet.. 🤔
I have 2 sets of twinkly lights on my balcony. Have used them for 3 years to display Christmas, Halloween, and other hoildays. After watching your video and showing the different effects the Govee offers, I'm now considering retiring the twinkly lights and upgrading to the Govee curtain lights. Amazed that these have way more options and are not as expensive as the twinkly lights.
I have an arcade in my basement but about 55 games and pinball machine I think it would be sweet to make this the ceiling if I could make that work stretched across and taped then just have all kinds of color displaying in the ceiling as you play games below. Definitely would want the three sets. You got me thinking. Great video

I've been wanting this for literally years now and was getting to the point where I was about to just spend loads of money to DIY my own with individually addressable BTF strips and an Arduino. I'm super happy Govee has finally responded to our requests as I've been all in on their ecosystem for years now. I might even get myself the Dream View setup now that these exist & work with that. I've read that custom GIFs only work on one curtain at a time. Hopefully that's already resolved or gets resolved soon because I'd like to set these up on the wall behind my streaming setup and use them to display custom alert animations I've already made for Twitch. Even if I have to manually trigger them it'd still be sick.
probably a dumb question but i assume you only get 1 small set when you buy? and have to buy it 3 times to get the 3 set row, thats gonna be a lil expensive
Yeah he is using 3 sets for his window but that's basically 15'x7' that's considerable wall real estate if you have that large of space usable most likely will have the disposable income. IMHO.
Yea I have three sets hanging side by side. They are fairly reasonable however I think considering how much "awe" they put out for the dollar when compared to other LED lights and such to cover such a large area.

That's a great question, you can easily switch the "direction" of the canvas to view it as correctly read from the outside. But I bet govee will make this even simpler to do within a next update.
As a middle school teacher, I want to know if my students can create their own designs and even use code to program the Govee lights? We want to use them outside the school for Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc.
Do you think you can combine them with a Cloud ceiling to have some Kind of stars twinkling through the Clouds or do you think they are not bright enough ?
This stuff is close to being able to take over DMX if there was some standard for the interface/integration. Using the phone/ipad as a processor is great, but what's the address/interface like you know? I like the idea of being able to bring this and integrate it onstage. Even cooler if it could use some DMX output as an input through the app. Like here's my current lighting setup/color/movement, now do some stuff with it. Pretty amazing really.
if power goes off do they come back online with the last preset running? I want to use this as a wall in a AIRBNB and i don't want my guests playing with an app I want them to just flip a light switch and have it come on with the last preset I left it with.

they're lights on strings, so long as they're mounted securely, you shd be able to gently nudge them aside occasionally like any standard curtains or drapes.. but if they're mounted with just adhesive, you'd have to be extra careful not to accidentally pull or snag them, cuz that may damage them or your walls, depending how strong the adhesive is, if they were yanked on..

Last year I saw an ad on FB for something similar and cheaper and bought them. BAD MOVE. Their app sucked and some of the lights didn't work. Govee to the rescue! My curtain lights arrived yesterday and they are PHENOMENAL! Already planning on getting two more sets. Where they're going is anyone's guess but I'll figure it out. Govee is the undisputed king of LED lighting!
How do you get them to react to music when spliced? I got two but the functionality is limited when you spliced them together, I can do a lot more if I keep them separated

Pretty cool. Look great on in the dark but not so much during the day it seems. I might use shower curtain clips to add them to a curtain rod and slide them aside when not in use. Like a beaded curtain.

Those are very cool, and not to bad in price! Not much more than the regular Govee LED strip lights that are incredible alone... How would one use those say if the window was 3' x 48" Can you rig them up to a smaller setup or do they need to hang the full 6..6 foot length????? Asking for a friend😜😉

My window isn't very big but my wall is as big as your windows, could I stick them to my wall like you have on your window frame or is this just for windows only
you can hang them anywhere, just like regular curtains, drapes, & tapestries which are also used often on windowless walls too - you could even double up by adding a great background in the fabric format of your choice (including glittery backdrops) then hang the lights in front for an enhanced effect ✨
@jamiebancroft706 You can buy these curtain seed pixel lights on their own. They typically use WS2812B pixels WLED software on a $6 ESP32 can receive sACN or ArtNET. I used 2,400 of these seed pixels for a giant Christmas tree outside my house (my whole house is about 30 universes).
We just purchased 1 set and I’m thinking we need more. We plan to take them to the Daytona race in August to decorate our infield campsite. I’m gonna have to work on some ideas for what we want to display.

Your video inspired my purchase of the Govee Curtain lights. They are a never ending source of fun! I mounted 2 sets on two old IKEA 4'x6' aluminum picture frames to make them stable and portable. I plan to move them outside for holiday presentations.

Add all three as a group from the main page, this will effectively just duplicate them all. That's how I did a lot of the shots using that function,
is the beads visible booth on front and back?
Great question. While the beads do technically have a front and back, they still do a fair job of throwing light in all directions.

I love Govee and I want to see what sports logos look like. I order one today but after viewing your video I think I could do with 2, then 1 for bedroom and 1 for kids recroom! So many possibilities!
I actually just heard of Govee when I was looking at Sam’s club monthly ad and saw the curtain for $99. I started searching to see different things I could do with the curtain and so glad I came across your video/channel! I’ve already watched a couple other of your videos and I can tell my wife will not be happy with my spending in the next couple of months 😂

Those are very cool, and not to bad in price! Not much more than the regular Govee LED strip lights that are incredible alone... How would one use those say if the window was 3' x 48" Can you rig them up to a smaller setup or do they need to hang the full 6..6 foot length????? Asking for a friend😜😉
Hahah! Maybe hang them on a wall or somewhere you have the space, unless you don't care about the animations and stuff and just wanted to use them for the colored lighting effects!

My window isn't very big but my wall is as big as your windows, could I stick them to my wall like you have on your window frame or is this just for windows only
you can hang them anywhere, just like regular curtains, drapes, & tapestries which are also used often on windowless walls too - you could even double up by adding a great background in the fabric format of your choice (including glittery backdrops) then hang the lights in front for an enhanced effect ✨

You can buy these curtain seed pixel lights on their own. They typically use WS2812B pixels
WLED software on a $6 ESP32 can receive sACN or ArtNET.
I used 2,400 of these seed pixels for a giant Christmas tree outside my house (my whole house is about 30 universes).

We just purchased 1 set and I’m thinking we need more. We plan to take them to the Daytona race in August to decorate our infield campsite. I’m gonna have to work on some ideas for what we want to display.

If you're environment is a darker one where these could shine they they'd work well, not so much in a bright environment though!

Your video inspired my purchase of the Govee Curtain lights. They are a never ending source of fun! I mounted 2 sets on two old IKEA 4'x6' aluminum picture frames to make them stable and portable. I plan to move them outside for holiday presentations.
