Did you ever catch the moment where Tim points at the camera or the part where Tim quickly touches and looks at Scottie, as if to say "we got this" in the outro (which I perceive to be Scottie's part of the song)?
I'm waiting for Polyphia to be invited to G3. Neither of them are typical Vai-patrucci-satriani style shredders in their own music but it's obvious they got the chopps and can hang.
@@irti_pk I remember that Ibanez jam at NAMM, it just seemed like they were playing nervous. Love them to death, I can only imagine the nerves of playing with so many straight legends when you're the new guys on the block
4:08 - 4:20 That was the most glorious tapping build up to an even more emotional single lead melody I've heard from Tim. I got shawn lane vibes for a second, I might be wrong to hear that but that lead melody after that build up sounded in his style. Gah damn, what a great solo.
Yes. 100%. And during live i have to say this. Clay (Drummer) is definitely the best performer live, but 2nd would be Scott. This guy sounds good live and always play his parts perfectly. Most of the time Tim sounds sloppy as hell, and there are times that Scott is even playing Tim's part. Im not hating, just saying tho.
They do have lots of similarities to Polyphia, but I personally think that they are unique enough to not be considered a Polyphia clone. It's nice to see that the Polyphia guys dig them too.
The transition is insane. You can tell the dudes before are skilled, but it's like there's a bit of struggle. When Tim plays, it just sounds so fluid and effortless. Almost ethereal.
As absolutely brilliant as Tim's solo is, I honestly don't think there's any guitarist out there right now that can contest with Scott's melodies. Makes me appreciate just how much talent Polyphia has.
the boys did good here but man Tim and Scott even 7 years ago with how refined their tones and playing choices are..... they stole the show here no doubt. They hung in there with them at the end for the final 5 man string ensemble and the bass was solid throughout. Also feels like the song was written more for the guests then the main 3. Great Mixing too for the bass at the end and the drummer was incredibly solid too. plus the 5 man jump was actually sick
I don't understand why there so much hate. This band is not polyphia. Is skyhaven enjoy the great sound of an amazing song. Enjoy more hate less. #goguys #skyhaven #skyhavenordie
This reminds me of Queen's music video for "The Miracle": Identical younger band members playing next to the original band, dressed the same and playing the same.
Guys you've obviously got the talent, you've done the practise and got the skills to prove it. The one piece missing as many others here have said is an original sound. Do whatever it takes to find it or you'll forever be in Polyphia's shadow and all that time you've spent honing your craft deserves a better showcase than that.
Forget the haters and the trolls. You guys had the courage to create and to put it out there in the world. Keep practicing, keep writing, keep working on your craft. A lot of people would never even consider putting themselves out there, let alone guys your age. Well done, press on, and keep up the good work.
This comment made me really happy. It hurts to see how bad they treating young people trying to do really great music. A lot of music sounds the same as other, if you like it that's cool. If you hate it because it sounds like something else that's stupid
This song is epic. Skyhaven may have a polyphia vibe but not 100% polyphia. I'm pretty sure that their next album will be mindblowing! Don't listen to haters!
This music video feels like 2 different music videos smashed into one. Making a darker ninja plot just doesn't mix well with the band dressed like hipsters in a brightly lit city background. Either put the ninjas on roofs, or put the band in the woods [or something along the lines]. Just poor decisions by the director.
StillCrunchyBass Or could you actually find some sort of artistic choice made to do have a hard contrast between the two. Maybe it's metaphoric and actually wanted to show Skyhaven and Polyphia ARE 2 different groups and don't want to be taken as one only band
Still listening to this year's later. Its honestly my soundtrack when I'm playing Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and I just learned the lead for the chorus on guitar. So epic.
Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Band is from Minnesota and living here i know most of the buildings in the back. Not sure about the exact building they are filming in though
i'm kind of glad they sound like Polyphia. I LOVE polyphia and it's some extra similar music to satisfy my ears. these kids have talent and the polyphia features made this song so fucking BEAUTIFUL
First time listening to this band. It was interesting and I'll definitely be checking out more of their music. I have to say though.. Tim Henson and Scott LePage absolutely crushed it! Can't wait to see Skyhaven grow as band. I see them releasing some pretty epic albums in the future.
Like this isn't bad at all, but my only issue with it is they're trying so hard to be exactly like polyphia. Their music is a blatant 100% ripoff of polyphia, their style is identical, guitars are identical, they even are working with polyphia to make polyphia 2.0. I wish they'd just make their own stuff and be their own people, then they could go somewhere. But until then, they'll just be in polyphia's shadow until they decide to change.
Definitely some melodic/chordal choices here that Polyphia wouldn't make, plus I feel that the Polyphia sound has a more full feel (more guitar playing going on at any given time) so this comes off more as a more minimalist song than anything polyphia would write, plus there is definitely some weird notes that they hit here (on purpose) that polyphia wouldn't as to stay in that more "the best of pop put into heavy guitar parts" category, there are just simply few dissonant notes hit outside of solos that these guys want in their main progressions. TL;DR They are going for a more dissonant, minimalist sound than polyphia and the melody goes places Polyphia never would. Different right from the beginning IMO
I sort of agree with both of you. Skyhaven apes polyphia's style and sound without a shred of doubt. Is it 100% the same? No. But that's because all the percentage that isn't polyphia is sithu aye. Also, there's already a band called skyharbor, so even the name is really like something else lol.
