Thank you - I felt like I am the only guy who loves this song - and thus did nit expect someone who did a lesson to it. It sounds much more complex than it is, ingenoíous Neil Young and great interpretation by you, also on vocals).
Duuuuude! This is fantastic. One of my favorite songs ever. Kudos on getting the tuning correct. You know the high E string is correct when you hear the melody section. Spot on. Thank you so much!
@@AaronRashaw wooo... So many songs since 60 y... I don't know. Captain Kennedy? New mama? A guitar version of For the turnstiles (nobody did that, except The bony King of nowhere)
Congratulations, perfect work, Aaron, and the tuning is absolutely correct [CGCFAD (DADGBE)]!! Just an observation: at 11:30, for example, when you start doing/teaching the ''solo sequence'' that has Bm (the first 3 strings), it's actually a G (the first 3 strings, of course). In fact, every time you play that Bm, it should always be a G (in this part of sequence solo). Sorry for my intervention!
Thanks for grabbing that mistake. Sometimes I’m going fast trying to transcribe and I mess up. At least they are close with both sharing a B and D note!
Thank you so much for this. I have been playing this song for years in double drop D but never got it this close. Very nice work! I am going to adopt to this playing.
Thanks for the quality lesson. I love playing this song, it brings me so much joy. I learnt guitar from youtube, started eight years ago; if you keep making videos like this I'll be able to say I knew this channel before it was popular.
Thanks for the kind words. I do break it down in the second part of the vid, is that what you mean? I didn't go note for note but kind of summarized the parts. Hope it helps.
I wish I could respond with the way I play it. Mostly I think you over complicate the "brought it all on " part and the small guitar lick afterwards. But this still works for the flatter style singing. I'm always so obsessed with being as accurate as possible 😂
@AaronRashaw a lot of the times Neil's chord shapes are broken down to only essential notes and easy shapes, it's what makes it so fun to play compared to Paul Simon say. But you made this your own and it sounds great
Hi Aaron. Fabulous lesson of a beautiful song, thank you. Unfortunately I can't get the tab to download. Has anyone else had the same problem or is it just me?
@Aaron Rashaw Salt City Guitar I think you got it right, I mean, the string is a D in this tuning cause everything is tuned down one step, but on the video you said G, that's why I commented haha (The guy on the other video has the first string tunned down to a C, it's like double Drop C, and you got a regular Drop C, which I also think is the right way. It's a shame Neil doesn't play this song live, it would be so much easier to figure it out haha) Excellent lesson, by the way!
@@MrFloyd-te1nh OK… I was wondering if that’s what you meant. I agree with you instead of double drop C it’s just the low dropped C. Yeah awesome tune and thanks for the comments appreciate it. I love that whole album.
@@MrFloyd-te1nh You're probably referring to Cortez. He really made a mistake with that tuning, the 1st string is D, not C. Aaron plays in the correct tuning, string 1 in D.

Good idea I love that tune.

@@KevinKerwin totally!
Surprised to find someone who nailed a lesson on this. Thanks man

@@volkerwilde thanks- great tune!
I thought my version was good but this is sublime.
Glad you like it, I do think I have a wrong chord in there on the chorus…

Merci.
Thanks! What NY song should I do next?

@@fubuki7872 For the turnstiles would be cool. Have to change it from banjo to guitar. Thanks for the idea..

Agree some one finly broke this song down. Nice acoustic version. Good job sir.
Thanks !
Superb rendition from a beautiful song! Bytheway, a very nice sounding guitar (Martin D28?)
Thanks for the kind words my friend. Love this entire album! It’s a 76 D-35.

Is that a Martin D35 with a 3 piece back?
@@KevinKerwin yes. 1976. It might need a neck reset.

Need double drop d tuning. That high e just complicates to a really simple tune.
So, tune the E string down to D.
Tuning: CGCFAD (Dropped D tuning
(DADGBE) taken down a whole step.)
the first string is a D.
You think? I went back and fourth but in the end I left it standard. Seemed like I could hear the third of the chord on that string…

Great video but the way you finger the G/b is borderline psychopathic 😂
Haha. I can’t remember how I did it? Sometimes I use one and three and sometimes I use one and four…
