Great timing because I've just had my first safety razor experience!Smooth...
Just did the move myself, even if i still have some experimentation left for the right blade there is no way im going back!
Sure there are a few cuts, but nothing i can feel and i expect my technique still need alot of work :P
@@ssu7653 I haven't gotten a single cut, maybe you put pressure on the device or used a very aggressive razor? If problem caused by your hands, just do that:
Put the razor parallel to your neck, lift the handle to get it make an angle of appr. 30 degrees and then just slide downwards. Not any single pressure, the weight of device is mostly enough.I have an Edwin Jagger de86bl,it's weight is enough.
I knew before but then again surprised when I saw the hair was effortlessly gone when I just get the angle and pulled downwards,I haven't even felt anything other than the voice of cut hair.
Had my first experience with two passes today and that was smooth n nice, products I used:
Safety razor
Shaving soap (not a foam or gel of course)
Brush
Alum block
Aftershave/stubble balm
Aftershave
@@muzafferelbeyli2756 I normally get like 1 or 2 cuts, or places where i can see a red spot (blood) if i just leave it. Nothing im to worried about :P
Also got shaving soap and brush instead of the foam/gel i used before, and some aftershave.
The first set of blades i tried worked fairly well, the 2nd set was clearly the wrong type for me.
Got a pack of 5 different blades, they are supposed to be designed for different type of beard so just see what works best :)

Took me almost a whole minute to realize Antonio was the dude in the black and white video😆😂 when I saw the mustache start to fall off
Hahahaha
I'm looking forward to when Antonio uploads a video on *'2020 Vs 2120 Men's Grooming routine'* 😆
I like this idea!

Great video. Our grandfathers didn’t have the electronic distractions that waste so much of our time today. They spent more time working and fulfilling responsibilities at home. Same for our grandmothers. My grandfather was a tough, gritty railroad worker but he still shaved everyday. Men were either clean shaven or had a beard. Stubble wasn’t cool until Don Johnson in the ‘80s.
Antonio,
I discovered your channel a month ago and have been hooked. I appreciate the way you show respect to everyone by referring to us "Gentleman"....it shows good upbringing, so kudos to your parents/grandparents. Being cultured and well mannered is just as important as being well dressed,
Ravi Peiris M.D.
Now that was an amazing video. Enjoyed every second in it. Great comparison, especially loved the comparison of the ingredients back then and today.
I must say MR Antonio this topic was great and out of the box shows how creative you are cheers
Love this new type of video! Great theme and very informative with comparisons from the past 😄
Shave with antique straight razor daily, unless I am in a rush, in which case I use a double edge safety razor, also an antique. My newest razor was made in 1924. Brush and a lanolin based soap in a shaving scuttle completes the set.
One of your most entertaining and interesting videos you’ve made Antonio! 10/10!
It’s good to see you having fun with your videos. Very funny, enjoyable and informative.
Ah, great video really waited to see a detailed explanation on that era's hairstyle and body grooming methods. As a side note i didn't realize it was our dear RMRS acting the stuff out untill later, well done Antonio!
This has such a Art of manliness vibe! Love it
Ah, yes!
The 1920s!
Also, your video is historically incorrect: how could the 1920s men wear a shirt with a hat 😂
You actually look pretty good in a mustache though, Mr. Centeno
😂
In the larger cities they did have public baths available for those without indoor plumbing. Great video Antonio, and you rocked that handlebar mustache!
I'm confident to say that this is your best video yet. Congrats!
I think you are right
I really liked watching this video! It was educational and I learned something new! 🌺 Thank you! 🌺
Love your play and stats shown - very interesting to look back in history!
Thanks Yuri!
Cool video, Antonio. Love the music in this one. 🎶
100 years ago, they only bathed once a week. But ever since the Coronavirus, I’ve been wearing the same pj’s and without any toilet paper... so my great grandfather wins 🧻 🧻
Nice video as usual! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Love these kinda videos from you Mr.Antonio!!
The finger wave was popular too for men in the 1920's. I just found out this name and how to do it and am starting today. It looks really great with a taper fade. Very classic and vintage on my wavy hair :)
My great grandfather was a rich guy. I am getting to know his grooming. And make more videos like this. It looks like the art of manliness.
Yeah it looks like the style art of manliness, and I love it!Actually once Antonio worked with Art of Manliness, you can check his articles in the website
Keep up the good content Antonio! Good stuff!
Hey Antonio, You are talking about my Dad. Until I went to high school I only took a bath once a week. He was born in 1918 and lived through the depression and spent WWI on Saipan and Okinawa. I made him proud by making Major before he passed away in 2001, Semper Fi Marine!!
My great grandfather used electric razor but my other great grandfather used safety razor
Make a vidoe on beard grooming now most guys including myself have beards , what is the best wash to use
Good suggestion Rene!
Beardbrand channel is pretty informative
Love the moustache. Great video.
I work in a dirty environment so cleaning is a big part when I get home. Me personally I still prefer to use coal tar soap as I leaves me feeling clean and refreshed. I take care of my nails as from experience I know women like to see nice nails and not chewed down wicks. With the high prices of blades for razors I've been looking at a decent safety razor for awhile now and think it's defiantly time to invest. It amazes me these days with all the products available that people go out looking and smelling like they've just got up from the gutter. We can learn a lot from 100 years ago 👍
Love this content.👍
Thanks Dom!
Learned a lot from your videos,. Love you from Bangladesh.
We can also use alum block as a deodrant , it's safe and natural . Love all your videos
Nice video! Very well thought out & put together.
This video must have given you a lot of work. But man, it was one of your best videos, if not THE best, at least visually. Nice work, team!
It did but I enjoyed filming it!
I use Lox pomades for my hair, and I generally hold my hair in a pompadour style. The Lox pomades are entirely natural, and they smell great and do a great job on my hair, which is thick and quite wavy. Maybe I’ll try out some of the products from vitaman, they look good.
Damn! I just got hit with the self promo. Wasn't expecting that, good for you dude 👍
Wow! He knows so much about my great grand father. 😂
Great idea Abtonio's team!!!!
The best!
Best videos of Antonio......🌹
Sir, You are looking funny with the hairstyle. Seriously I can't stop laughing 😂😂😂😂
This was fun to watch! One thing, though, about brushing teeth. But aside from the time spent brushing and number of times brushed, I doubt many men use a technique their dental hygienist or dentist would recommend. Movies, TV Shows, and commercials take dramatic liberty using a sawing motion which is not healthy for the teeth or gums. If the toothbrush manufacturer doesn't have a video of proper technique, your hygienist or dentist will be happy to show you.
I need an updated version of these
I use Cremo medium hold on my hair. I love it. You really don't need much at all, probably about half the amount that I would use for toothpaste to brush my teeth. It's like $10 but I've been using the same can of it for like 3 or 4 months and I don't know if I'm even 1/2 way through it yet.
God bless you brother
Thanks for pointing out what may be the beginning, or close to it, of the wash cloth (around 0:51). I'm surprised America seems to be the only country still using one.
More era comparison videos!Dressing up could be well-compared.Once dressing sharp was usual, now dressing sloppy is,what a shame!
people dress like they don’t care these days. every person should dress for success
Hey Antonio, great still picture of Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D. WV) and Sen. Jennings Randolph (D. WV) with John F. Kennedy at 12:00 in the video.
You have beautiful hair. I'm so envious
Bumps and ingrowns are caused by those expensive cartridges lifting skin in the way as well as the hair for a closer cut and usually loose their gel strips causing friction and the blades often not changed enough to rust and uneven wear. Single edge is the way to go, worked for me for over a decade, anything from a disposable bic, safety razors and straights. There's also a giant artisan market for razors, brushes, soaps and aftershaves that collecting is almost inevitable.
Very great and funny video. Thanks! ;-)
This is amazing
Enjoyed filming it too!
@@RealMenRealStyle I loved the effort you put it in it aswell, the safety razor is the best money saving investment I have ever made thanks to you, alpha, and gentlemens Gazette
super cool vidéo
As a girl who is curious, this seems great!
Ah, Shaving. You can't compete with 1920's when it comes to shaving!
I want the early 1920s look!
I would love to see Antonio do a video going through every outfit the 14 Doctors wear during the course of Doctor Who.
I been shaving since I was 16 and I'm 42. since 2012 I been using that pinaud clubmen
Video starts from mens grooming of 1920 😀. Now I know how my grandfather used to wash his face 😀😀
Where I'm from my oldies bathed almost every day. They had wells (still there) not the best economy though.
Pomade was not mention which was heavily used in the time.
My grandfather did take a bath with a hat on his head. 🤣
7:33 Kevin! 😂
For shave nicks: styptic pencil (still available in most drugstores) dampened and touched on nicks stops the bit of bleeding and disinfects adequately-our grandfathers used those (if you’re an old fart like me - 58).
Do one about the 1950s my favourite decade
I personally like the middle part hairstyle.
That moustache looks good on you.
@Real Men Real Style But what if you had very extreme beard grow?
I try to shave every morning, but after a few hours the stubbles come back.
Isn't there a way to stay clean shaven longer? I mean shaving twice a day can't be healthy for your skin right? 😖
So is tiege hanley better or your stuff??

(Anyone had dejabu after watching this video)
🤣🤣🤣
Two blade razor suits my skin 👍
I use Dr Squach
100 Years
Antonio, I would like to see you with a moustache 👍
The whole propane in the shaving cream thing. My gramps puts a shaves with no cream a broad sword and uses kerosene for after shave.
old gentleman :1920s ... Such a grace
Current gentleman : 2020... Such a grace
It's all about time.
$40 for shipping to England makes any purchase completely out of the question.
I'm gonna have to try using petroleum jelly for hair. Has anyone here ever tried it?
Be careful of build up on the scalp. It can block your pores and cause acne.
Best possible service from a straight razor, with towel treatment mentioned, your skin is like a baby’s. But I’ll leave it up to The Professionals, I have a healthy fear of straight razors, I’m a little clumsy and those blades are really really sharp. Safety razor 👍👍🏻👍🏿👍🏾
Ah yes, bathing with the head on.
Such good times back then xD
Most of things I don't know about 1920.👍
I go with 1920s they dress nice then these days
I use an electric razor cause my skin is delicate and I get no Nick's and I hate shaving cream cause I hate the smell
My Grandpappy was a Dapper Dan man.
I have never ever had any problems with the cartridge razor with ingrown hairs or sensitivity. I tried to practice using the safety razor and cut my face every single time. i cut off a piece of my face once so now Im afraid to use it... I think Ill just stick with the normal razor for now.
I've just tried safety razor today, with Edwin Jagger and it was the best, smoothest experience ever had.The key is not putting pressure on the device,it may be the reason you cut your face because I've always heard people saying this, and today I tried it.I didn't put any pressure other than device's own weight and ta damm! it slided like a bird in the sky and closely shaven my face,I didn't even feel other than voice of cutting hairs.
Muzaffer Elbeyli I’ll try that 🙏
@@papertheproducer you should,it is so smooth... :)
Hi boss 👋👋
Hey M H!
you HAVE to grow a moustache!!!
Bruh this man thought he was slick with this as campaign out of no where lmao
Actually Antonio imo that 1920's part down the middle hairstyle looked good on you. Just sayin'. :)
Billion views.
100 years ago our great grandparents encountered the Spanish flue and 100 tears later, we are facing the coronavirus.
I am a former USMC officer too older than you. I thought your fake mustache was pretty funny
Classic Gentlemen!!!
What do you think of the grooming routine in 1920?
@@RealMenRealStyle Hello Sir,
After seeing the video, I personally think that fashion and all may have evolved over a century, but relatively grooming has been same, in terms of cost, and need and of course trend. I personally like 1920s men's fashion as it spontaneously brings into the mind the vintage debonair men who kept chivalry breathing. And seeing my grandfather and his generation and some of my father's generation groom themselves somewhat the same way, I have in my mind the word "masculinity" associated with those kind of men like Cary Grant , Humphrey Bogart and Uttam Kumar. Yes, considering all the advancements of science and technology, 2020 undoubtedly, has the vantage. But chivalry has always been black and white(for me personally) unless we bring it back to life again.
With thanks and regards,
A great admirer of yours.
P.S. The moustache suited greatly
Don't most men today use an electic razor instead of disposable razors?
I feel like electric shaving is not appreciated as much as it should be. Also a big disadvantage of showering daily: dry skin.
Bram Van Hooydonck big advantage is not being gross, though. Moisturize!
It's not the water causing your dry skin, it's the chemicals in the products you are using that are stripping the natural oils off your skin. I wash dishes 2-3 times daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner) but my hands are healthy. Keep in mind that part of the video where Antonio mentioned that companies are now using chemicals instead of natural substances in their products.
Sy Guzman how to counter it? Which products to use?
@@utubefreak7167 : Try reading the labels on the products that you use at home and on yourself. When buying products for your face/hair, buy quality products that use natural or gentle ingredients. Some stuff they sell at Walmart can be too rough for your skin. Grim Reaper (comment above) suggests moisturizer- and that's a very good way to keep your skin healthy! Remember, your skin is the largest organ of your body- take care of it daily! Some people have a bedtime routine where they apply moisturizer before going to bed so that the skin absorbs the nutrients while they sleep. Whatever you choose to do, you have to maintain a routine because slathering lotion on your face one time isn't going to work. You must make it a habit to take care of yourself daily. Also, it goes without saying but remember to drink water daily because hydrating is needed for good health.
Who knows who that guy is at 05:45? Hint: you never saw him clean shaved.
I am one of the 30% of men though
