This reminded me of when my grandpa and I would go cook breakfast outside on an old double burner propane camping stove. We would only do it when we had spam, I tried it with him cause he told me how they used to eat it when he was a kid and him and his friends would go out in the countryside and make a fire and cook some spam and beans or hot dogs and beans. I loved his stories and wanted to do everything he did so we recreated it as best we could. Spam and eggs cooked outside and my nana would make toast inside and we usually came inside to eat or sometimes she would join us outside at a big old picnic table we had there under enormous old avocado tree, it was about 20 feet tall or more and had about a 30 foot canopy. It was an old house with about an acre of land in san diego, a little area in san diego called bonita. That was such a magical place for me growing up. I was really remembering that while watching you cook breakfast on the little butane stove. Feels like a lifetime ago. Very bittersweet to remember such things. It makes you happy but very sad too. Life is a strange thing in the way that you can remember a time so vividly but you'll never be able to see it again except in your minds eye. Doesn't quite seem fair. I'm rambling now though. Breakfast looked good! I enjoyed the video a lot.
Thank you for sharing this memory. My grandparents also had a huge old avocado tree in their backyard only they lived in a small, old community in LA. They used to pick fresh avocados when they were ripe and the good ones on the ground. Never really had to buy them except when the tree wasn't giving them or they weren't ready yet. Their house was only 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, but they had 6 kids. My grandpa was a carpenter so he added on to the house by making a huge living room with a brick fireplace, a staircase with an encased AC unit in that wall to cool the living room down and 2 extra bedrooms upstairs with another bathroom. They lived right next to a grocery store. The street was a dead end with my grandparent's house, the street and then the neighbor across the way. There's a brick wall that runs along the right side of the house and across the street along the neighbor's place as well, with an opening in the wall so the neighborhood people can walk through to enter into the shopping Plaza. It opens up into an open area that's paved, and the side of the building facing the brick wall. Just walk to the store literally 5 minutes it was awesome. It would've been an extreme hassle to get in the car and drive all the way around and outside the subdivision to make a giant u shaped loop to get to the grocery store. So we just always popped into the opening of the wall, made a right past the side of the building, and turn left to get to the entrance. There was an ice cream/donut store next door and a Chuck E Cheese in the same Plaza. Growing up with my family living with my grandparents was fun, especially getting treats next door at the shopping Plaza.

There wasn't a grocery store but before that when they were young my nanas family owned a little grocery store in Otay Mesa. My grandpa delivered sodas for nehi soda and then pepsi later and when he was delivering pepsi one day he delivered them there to their little store and he always said she was a knockout in his words and they both fell in love and the rest is history. I always love that story. It seems so appropriate for the 50s. Delivering pepsi to a tiny little grocery store. He used to deliver all over San Diego. He knew the owner(and his wife)of a really well known popular pizza place there called la bellas and we would go there and he'd take me in the back to the kitchen so he could go say hi and he'd give us freebies and made sure we got some real good stuff. It seems like a different life now. Like I'm reading someone else's life. You know what I mean. My grandpa was in the navy during the Korean War and he always had so many stories, well has I should say he's still alive he's 94 this year. I was just over there yesterday visiting my mom and him. I'm really rambling though. Just hearing your story made me have a lot of memories. My nana loved pink and when he bought their little house he went and fixed it up and he painted the kitchen and all the cabinets a bright pesto bismol pink and put bright silver handles on them, very retro looking. I still have one of the pullout cutting boards with pink trim from when they moved. Even the windows were old original windows. The kind with slats of glass that you tilt open rather than slide the whole window. It was an old house and everyone else thought it was too old, but to me that was what made it so special and magical. It was like no one else's home. I get sad just thinking about it. I feel teary eyed thinking of all this. It sure would be nice to he able to go back and revisit the past knowing what we know now and how special it really was and that it will be over before we know it and some of those people are gone forever now.

Another great video, friend. Thank you. That thick cut bacon is great. Once, occasionally twice a week, it is the centerpiece of my breakfast, with scrambled eggs and home fries. So tasty. Also, I generally save a bit of the bacon fat in the pan, add a little butter, and cook the eggs right in it. Not the healthiest, I suppose, but the eggs taste amazing cooked in bacon fat.

We put our bacon grease in a Mason jar an put it in the fridge an then add a little here an there with our cooking for extra flavor.....add it too butter or oil in your pan while cooking .....works great for a Lil pop on your garden veg
Hi Morpheus, thank you for another video! I haven’t eaten bacon in a very long time, so when you were cooking it on the pan, the sound of it reminded me of when I was in scouts. We had a scout leader who was very good at cooking, so he would always make us these amazing meals to eat when we were camping each time. I had a lot of interesting experiences when in scouts so it’s good to be thrown back! Here in the UK, girls are able to join the scouts, or do girl guiding, and I chose to join the boys group with a very small number of girls so we could go camping and do environmental conservation work, which you wouldn’t do in the girl guides. We played a lot of games running around in fields after dark which I still look back on today, wishing that I could somehow do it again! Hope my message isn’t too long, but it’s interesting how simple sounds can unlock memories!
