Why do only like 3% of boaters in Miami actually have lines in hand ready to go when approaching the dock. It's maddening (but hilarious) to watch
Yeah, and the other thing is that the captains never seem to be aware of what all of their boat aft of their helm position is doing,
or where it is going whenever it's not following the front half going forward. I've never seen so many incompetent boat owners
anywhere else in Florida. And tow vehicle drivers who don't seem to know when they should shift their 4WD into 4WD! What must they be teaching in those boater ed classes; does Florida even have those, still?
Few lines are ever ready, and even fewer (if any) fenders.

I don't understand why there are so many line fails! I use the single line method and just drop it over the cleat on the dock (or pole). Simple and quick.
@@tckelley71 Your method sounds good, but what happens is a non-sailor takes the bow or stern line to the Dock and then wrap those lines around the piling 40 times ! :(

Alfred I've got a great idea for you and the chit show.
When the boats come in and dock, have a loud speaker with the sounds of the old game show on it. Like Price is Right and when they win it'll have the sound of bells going off.
Then when they f'up, the sound of the dropping tone (The FAIL sound)
Have it loud enough for the docks to hear it. It'll be a vendetta for the boaters to NOT get the "fail" sound!

I don't get the whole tying off to the inside of the ramp thing. No one I know would be caught dead doing it unless there's some pretty extreme cross/tail winds. I guess that's what you're supposed to do at this particular ramp?!?! Curious. Good commentary on the video. Entertaining even when nothing is happening.
That ramp has a horrible surface for regular vehicals pulling boats out unless you have 4 wheel drive. The ramps here are as rough as grandma's feet.
I was told about 2 weeks ago that Fred was relocated. I didnt believe it but it makes sense now if you say you havent seen him in 10 days

Squealing tires does not mean bad truck, I bought a car years ago that had a set of those 4 for $99 specials on it. Those were the worst tires you could ever have in wet weather. At a stop light or sign with even the slightest uphill to start off and they would squeal just as bad as the truck did. It was nearly impossible to start out if the ground was wet without squealing the tires. Not a bad truck, cheap tires is the likely culprit. The weirdest part, you could stop without to much happening, taking off was like you had slicks on and the road was covered with oil.
THose pickup need to get 4x4
Keep a small container of cat litter or coarse sand in the truck. When the tires spin on a slick ramp, toss a handful of the cat litter under each tire. It won't get you out, but cats will piss on your tires.

I loved my old Chevy Z71, best truck I ever owned. 327,000 miles until it was totaled in an accident, got t-boned and flipped over 4x. Walked away injury less

Everybody is always backing up their boats without even a hint of looking behind them to make sure they aren't backing into anyone/ anything.

Looked like the guy in the Parker took the name seriously. Dumped the boat in the water and parked it at the ramp for the day. Entered the stream at 9:33 and was out of the water at 43 minutes and change. Wow.

May be you stream-quality gets better under conditions like this, when you allow a longer „delay” like 20 seconds or so. Heard your delay when you were checking the stream. Seemed to be more or less “live-live” ;)

He started with a 19ft jet propulsion center counsel which he took to the bahamas. It was so inspirational that we bought a 25 ft Parker and started to cruise the outer islands of the Bahamas.
If folks are going to tow heavy boats or travel trailers they should have 4wd vehicles a little preparation before towing can get rid of many headaches on the ramps

Having gone thru a lot of locks in upstate New York when we were in boating we would tie a bow line to the stern line when entering a lock,leaving some slack in the line as I would snuggle up to the wall with the boat my wife would get off and control the boat from the wall we had a 42 ft Trojan motor yacht as soon as she was holding the boat to the wall the captain at that point let’s her control the boat

I didn’t explain the lines very good.what I meant to say was take the bow line and fasten it to the stern line leaving some slack so one person can control the boat from the dock or wall as soon as that person has control of the boat the captain relinquishes control.
It's amazing how many people unload or pull in and just sit there at the dock and tie things up for way longer then need be.

Watching this video was stressful. Mooring and slip rentals are so much easier.
Lived in PC and liked the oysters? Well, at least you aren't one of those people who rave about the fishing -- then complain about all the people wanting to take the fish! I lived there from 1982 until 2005 and still have a home on Clara Ave just north of Hooters on the beach. Not bad boat crowds compared to SoFL, best diving in the state (if you don't mind a little less vis LOL) and, YES, some of the best oysters around.

After more then 33 years of boating I can honestly say maybe two or three time we had trouble docking. It’s hard to believe you people have this many problems. One after the other can’t dock your boat. Maybe they need a pilot docking service for all river boaters!!

Always have insurance.. I ran out of gas boat tow US wanted $810 to tow me in, 2 miles. but the coast guard pulled up
Daniel, if you were a member of Tow Boat US, all tows are free ! It cost less than $200 for a boating season.
@@keithscudder7136 no worries now I have progressive boat insurance.. the night it happened I was pissed at my buddy for telling me we will be good on gas.. I checked my lottery tickets..I hit the lottery for 38 thousand dollars
All tow boat companys charge from the time they leave >their dock< to the time they leave >>your dock
@@KingmanRoss Ross, once you become a seasonal member, all tows are free. They offer several packages, but they all are under $200.00 Dollars.
Just do not understand as long as they are moving,why do they stop.Why not keep going as long as they have the momentum. Woks the same as in on snow/ice.
