- Fine! I'll talk about this dumb online list saying For Honor is woke. But if I'm gonna do this, I'm talking about more than just that. Let's really break down the issue with this list.

I like for honor cause it's unique. You can choose your hero, and depending on who you pick, is gender locked or not. You can even make them how you wanna look with armor set and give them a backstory. So I fail to see how for honor is woke.

Its all a matter of perspective. For some people, woke = anything that isn't straight, white and/or gender conforming. For others, woke = anything they don't like. For me, it's just a buzzword that honestly describes nothing.
Political messaging doesn't make a game inherently bad or good. The Metal Gear series openly critiques American imperialism and foreign policy, while praising the likes of Che Guevera. Yet it is still hailed as a gaming classic by most. Meanwhile, Concord doesn't really make any overt political statements. Sure, it has many characters that aren't straight, white and/or gender conforming, but its not making some grandiose statement against bigotry or corporatism or anything like MGS. It just wanted to be an Overwatch clone.
For Honor is in a similar place. "Wokeness" isn't going to make or break the game. Aesthetics and gameplay are wayyy more important to its success.

Are they buzzwords or WE Just condition with so much wokeness to See anything slightly less woke AS a masterpiece? The Game has Made little tweaks to make it more woke with Male or female to Body Type 1 or 2 , some new Characters etc. Nothing groundbreaking but still unnecceasry and it IS an Ubisoft Game.
The biggest issue probably would BE If the sequel will BE fully woke or If they finally learned their lesson and Go Back to basics

Not to be rude but females in terms of biology are on average weaker then men. Men are just biologically better for hard labor and fighting which is why in war bigger, stronger, stockier men were very desirable as soldiers. Not to mention women were valuable to people and nations back then and needed to be protected, this because without women how would a nation or civilization grow and get new people, immigration did happen but it wasn't en masse as it is today
Its not until modern warfare where the battlefield is on a level playing field with vehicles carrying heavy equipment and weapons requiring accuracy instead of pure strength to wield, that women soldiers became more common or at least in America.

Every game that has a playable female character or characters from multiple ethnicities is considered "woke" nowadays, apparently.
The issue here is "woke" has become a buzzword that serves no purpose beyond provoking conflict between people who have an agenda or strong political views (and that goes both ways). No serious reviewer, no serious fan would include "being woke" as a criticism to a story. They are delusional right wingers punching the air, and the same goes for the left when they "take offense" to anything that isn't to their liking so they're able to boycott it, or at least try.
Modern politics as a whole are a poison for the entertainment industry.
The closest thing to what the right wingers are doing that has happened in the left is Black Myth Wukong and the Hogwarts game, two incidents spread out almost 3 years. Even then reaction was mixed.

100%, I especially agree with that last line. Politics is the realm of the amateur. That's why so much of this explicitly political/biased media is just soooooo bad, be it Mr. Birchum, High Guardian Spice, Velma, etc. They're all made by amateurs who got in probably through nepotism and don't know how to make quality stuff, so they just shove their dumb political takes because they think that makes them smart and that people care. And they aren't talented enough to put their politics in there in a smart way, they just punch you in the face with their ham fists.

Let's be real, the majority of gamers simply don't care that much. Those who are not chronically online can differentiate what is fiction and what matters in real life. What is cool and fun sells to the masses.
And that is what videogames are right? things that are fun and cool.
The aniti-woke group shown in the video is an example of people so deep into online petty fights that videogames to them are no longer entertainment, but political statements that try to convince players to hate men or something. These people need to socialize and make more friends, genuinely speaking.
There are people who make problems out of everything everywhere, and they are normally disliked. But the internet allow them to group up and spread negativity and hatred for anyone who dare criticize or oppose. And what is meant to fun for everyone got ruined for it.

Yeah, this is why I just don't give a crap about things they call "woke". Their reasonings just doesn't make any sense and really, this whole "woke" thing just makes me irritating that people would automatically just dislike something just because it doesn't goes with their political beliefs? It's been nearly over 4 years which is half of For Honor's life span since we got a both gender option hero. That Ezio skin male gender switch was proof that the devs can make both options, but chose not to and keep the same repetitive and exhausting cycle of boy girl boy girl boy girl. Even Varangian had an army of other Varangian guards backing her up, were they all female too? They had some males in that crowd but didn't place one of them in the game. Having some gender-locked is fine but not for every single new character so far.
Come to think about it there's no mention of "LGBT" in For Honor but there's a theory of Apollyon and Mercy being a thing, In the pre-mission description for Mercy she calls Apollyon "A natural predator". It's either true, or some random theory made by weird down bad people or brain rot.

Like, the term first rose up to media that protrayed actual problems in society so, why would you be against of that kind of thing?

People like to call anything they dont like woke, and when you ask them for an explanation to why they call you an offended snowflake or whatever because they dont actually have an explanation that its not "me no see white straight men, me no like"
TLTR: the word woke has lost any "meaning" it could ever had and now its just an excuse to shit on basically any minority possible.
The way I look at it is this:
I don't want political agendas and real world narratives being forced into entertainment mediums like games, movies, and shows. I want those two things seperated. I want to enjoy a game without seeing the political and social pandering of an ideology on screen.
When I hear the word woke, that is what I assume they mean by it: The forceful inclusion of ideologies into a medium. But I'm slowly beginning to realize there are some people out there who are so hateful, they really just throw that term at anything they deem bad. When I responded to the chart, I was looking at the term woke from the perspective I'd always seen it as...but it seems that I overestimated the intellectual fortitutde of many, as now I'm facing harsh criticism from folks in my own community for not calling out the wokeness in Ubisoft. They are calling me a 'woke shill' or a 'leftist defender,'

Remember the articles from early in For Honor's history claiming the game was islamophobic because of all the knight players running around as Crusaders and yelling DEUS VULT as they fought the vikings and samurai? It's funny how 8 years later we've apparently gone to the complete opposite extreme.
I have a feeling the 'woke' label is partially if not entirely because of how some players customize their heroes and emblem.
Edit: To add - The list's take on SM2 seems to be mirroring what Synthetic Man said in his video on the game that having black, scottish, and asian marines doesn't make sense because space marines are "supposed to be clones of their primarch born from gene-seed." This is after openly admitting that he doesn't know much about 40K and starting his video by pointing a bolter at Chairon and saying "I can tell this one's corrupted by his skin!"

Raven, I’m going to be clear with you. Yes, it is kind of a weird video regarding the topic. But you know what, you waisted your time addressing the issue. Let me explain why:
1) Most of the community, myself included, don’t give a flying duck 🦆 about who’s gay, who’s a lesbi, or who like receiving it from behind. We don’t care. What we really want is gameplay, we want you to explain the history, historical context, and the historical creativity taken in the creation of each hero, we want you to rated executions, and we want you to entertain us. That’s it.
2) Second, did you enjoy the making of this video??, like I’m being serious. My guess is not. So don’t do things that you don’t enjoy. I do got to say, that I understand you were told by DMs about the list and whatever, and maybe you fell for peer pressure or that you weren’t busy so decided to it, whatever the case is.
Anyways, when you hear anything about “WOKE”, gosh I despise that word, just ignore it. Ignorance is a very powerful tool.
Some people gotta figure out that for honor is not a direct teaching of history, for example: I am pretty sure it would be hard to be doing 3 midair backflips while spewing archaic curses while wielding a double bladed axe while wearing a mask you can barely see out of, executing a poor sinner in one shot.
This is dumb. It’s the fact that For Honor doesn’t try to lie and be like “This is historically accurate!” and instead they just state out in front that they just do what they are wanting and that’s completely fine
I love for honor so much I spent hours making miniatures on heroforge trying to get them mostly right😂 but I really don't care about the politics, I've always agreed with the stance that you can like what you like, and if you really like it, you'll look past the few things you disagree with. I was sad about Varangian being gender locked since the guard is one of my favorite historical armies in terms of armor😂
i don't remember which game in the list but it also complained "not recommended" just because of Boudicca being able to fight a roman officer being 'woke'.
and also about Arbalest in Darkest Dungeon because she's a woman fighting in the 'frontlines' (she's a backline crossbow fighter)
For Honor used to be a lot more historically accurate, but i wouldnt say its "woke".
That said, ubishit IS getting worse with this shit, so I would keep an eye out.

I finds it funny as Dark Souls 3 is on the list... sure it has body type one and two, but that is because Fromsoft believed that is what people in the west wanted. And the ring they talks about was also in the first dark souls and linked to a character with a tragic backstory... Gwyndolin...

Nope. In the Skyrim character creation screen, you have a slider labeled 'SEX.' You the slide it left or right to change the body type. The words 'male' and 'female' are never used. So, technically, it's no different than what For Honor does. Neither game uses gender terms.

Bro...are you serious? Firstly: I was responding to the reasons laid out in the stupid chart that I was asked to respond to. I said clearly at the beginning that I was asked to look at this chart, and so I was listening to the accusations laid out in this chart. The chart did not bring up 'DEI factions, hot pink armor, or disco dancing.'
Secondly:A DEI faction? You mean outlanders? The Outlanders are literally just warriors that can't be fit into the original four. They wanted to add other warriors from outside of the original four factions that couldn't fit into them. I don't think that's DEI.

I totally agree with most of your points. While I also think it's "silly" to have "body type 1" and "2" that doesn't affect my gameplay, I also don't want to support creators who want to make that the new normal, so I vote with my wallet, even if I'm losing myself in an experience I might like. Since it's their list I think it's totally fair to put recommended or not on whatever criteria they want, as ridiculous as it may be. I also agree that some criteria are conveniently forgotten for certain games, or not detailed as well. Thankfully, I am an adult that can look it up the information to see if its worth my time or not, and ignore some things they criticize that won't bother me (such as women in the frontlines).

@@firetube8288 Because body type 1 & 2 is used, to don't say Man and Woman, or Female and Male. In short it is denying the intrinsic/natural/classic characteristics and shape of male and female body (exemple: If your character have bigger hips, no diggler between legs and bump on the chest, it is safe to say it is a femelle, but to not hurt the minority of a minority and Baîzos you re going to say it is a type 2.)

it's not woke, but like a number of franchises, it is seeping in a little. the bodytype bullshit is one example. plus, the development team does seem to have some "woke" historical perspectives at times rather than just objectively taking inspiration from history.

The idea that for honor is woke is very laughable In fact I think keeping it relatively obscure has helped it stay away from DEI practices for a very long time because I think the devs of this game have a lot more freedom to do what they want compared to something like ac shadows where the higher-ups were very clearly trying to push stuff and hiring The wrong people to make a game that ticked off the very audience they were trying to attract.
One small point you made that was incorrect on the lore of 40k. The Ultramarines did only recruit from a handful of worlds before the fall of cadia. The 500 worlds had been broken up. But the more diverse Ultramarines in SP2 aren't from the Ultramarine recruiting worlds. They are from Cawls' grey legions, and he recruited from the ENTIRE imperium. The devs even make this distinction plain in the service studs. Notice that only the white characters have them? Thats because they are firstborn while the others are born primaris.
Eh, even then, you're not going to have entire planets entirely composed of white people. I mean Salamanders and Space Wolves canonically have different ethnicities on their singular homeworlds, and one of them literally has a mutation that makes your skin jet black with glowing red eyes when you become a Salamander. Just because most if not all promotional space marines are painted white means that they're going to be majority white. That's just some serious tunnel vision.
For Honour isn't really big enough yet for Ubisoft to consider worth making fully woke. If anything, potential sequel being woke as fuck would be a more pressing concern. But I am gonna point out that Afeera, Medjay and Ocelotl have some serious woke undertones to their writing, with basically boiling down to 'everything was hunky dory until white man showed up and ruined everything'.
I doubt a sequel will come.

@@RavenKnightYT The "perks" broke the game. A downgrade from what it had been before. (Which wasn't perfect, but was at least playable) Since then it's been an inferior game. I never said the game was woke, but it's likely going to end up woke. Ubisoft generally produce woke games and nothing else these days. Woke companies produce woke games. Every game they've produced lately is woke.

I don't see Space Marine 2 being woke because the developer himself reached out and spoke against it, maybe because of Gameworkshop pulling off some stupid stuff with Warhammer 40k universe is probably why. But you've brpught up the change body type issue so yes For Honor is definitely woke but that's not the only reason either, plus the developers can still insert their ideals even if they don't directly say it.
The women being portayed in a way with this game is most likely the reason why some people are against it, most are very much man-like especially with the alt body types removing some of the feminine features that actually defines a woman. For example Glad and Raider have female alternatives but they have mostly just muscle and flat chests, you would think thry just looked like dudes but skinnier. There are very few exceptions that keep this from being completely blown up is characters like PK, Nuxia, and Nobushi for example. And the wokest female seen so far is the Pirate which is why she got the biggest backlash from the community.
Another woke agenda was some of the stories being told like the Ocelotl season and Afeera season. They've painted the civilizations as peaceful when they have they're own dark histories like sacrificing and mass slaughterings. But the knights seem to be in this spotlight too much because every wokie cries "But the CrUSaDEs.. they are evil!!!". You discussed that subject in the past videos so yeah that is woke too that they did.
And I have noticed their isn't a single white character in the Outlander faction and Medjay skin tones are nearly the same. Isn't that a bit racist of the developers to do that? Everyone else in the roster you can color them with dark chocolate skin tones but no light color for Medjay. Medjay may have darker skin in history but they've thrown the accuracies out the window since launch so they can't use that excuse like what they're trying to pull with Yasuke (accuracies on what that figure has done in history with that case).
And finally I have seen no male villains in the game, just villainesses. You can do female villains if you do them right, but characters like Apollyon pass off as just bland and not intimidating in my opinion. I don't think the devs hate women (well not in that way), but strikes as "girl boss" or "Women empowerment" being the front. If they ever release a male villain that being a heroskin or a new character, then all of that can be disproven.
I'm not attacking you for defending the game, I understand because this game is unique and not like many others and there can be fun points to it. You have the freedom of opinion to think the game isn't woke. And you can choose to have fun with what you like and that's okay regardlessof what other say. But evidence being seen throughout the is clear that they are inserting messages, they're just not being loud about it nor is it being slightly subtle. The growing push of messaging has been spreading wildly for almost a decade and gamers are pushing back hard. And with Ubisoft's negative reputation lately that's going to reflect For Honor's image because they're still branded as a Ubisoft product, that's going to make people look at the game much harder than before and turn people away from playing the game regardless if that's the developers' decisions or Ubisoft's. And I see a rough future incoming for this game whether people want it to succeed or not.
You don't have to take my word for it or others, you can look at the previous contents you've covered on this topic and you'll see. I wouldn't mind hearing your opinion on how you would handle this game if you were a part of the dev team and what ideas you could suggest, and what if the For Honor team wasn't tied to Ubisoft, would the game be in a better state?
The game isnt woke unless they changed genders in the game which would be dumb on ubis behalf but the game has fell off no new maps and game modes come on ubi stop being lazy
Mabye they say that because a lot of the recent heros are ugly women(pirate, vangarian. Plz give us male variants ubi). Aswell as recent male characters kyoshin and wardens skin.
